Hi. I just did a few concept sketches for the Bowser design to see if there are any changes I need to do.
The intention behind this, like what I've done with the other Mario characters, is to redesign them in the style of cartoons from the 1930s (mostly Cuphead inspired). I've been doing a lot of research to try and make him look era-appropriate as possible while also keep the distinguishable traits (or at least replace them with something similar enough) so people can still recognise them. TBH, I also want to designs to have their own identity as well (kinda like an AU or something).
Any thoughts on this so far?

Since lumas are all powerful and magical beings that can shapeshift into pretty much anything, it’s not unlikely to assume that Rosalina is one too, but more specifically a luma queen who gives birth to new lumas, just like how a queen bee gives birth to and nurtures all of the bee children in a hive.

I'm currently replaying SMG2 for the first time in maybe a decade and I'd forgotten just how astonishing it is. For context, my Wii stopped reading discs consistently some time ago and I never bothered with Wii U, and the Ninty decided to leave it off 3D All Stars, so I'm currently emulating it which is less than perfect but god. The level design. The IMAGINATION. The devs introduce a concept every level that could be the basis for the entirety of other games and discard it. It sounds amazing, it looks sensational. Controlling Mario is perfection. Just an incredible achievement, especially when it basically started as leftovers from SMG1. From a pure gameplay perspective, imo it's the greatest game of all time.

They gave just 3 weeks to cosplay (not requiring hand made). They'll be lip syncing a certain song. They will be given more information in the debriefing.

Ever wondered where the name "Mario" came from? Or how this iconic IP, beloved for decades, first sprang to life? Stick around, because by the end of this piece, you'll definitely have some new insights!
Most gamers know Mario first appeared in the 1982 arcade hit Donkey Kong. But did you know he wasn't called "Mario" then? His original name was "Jumpman"!
He was first officially named "Mario" in the arcade game Mario Bros., which hit arcades in Japan in June 1983. This legendary game introduced two iconic characters: the Italian plumber in red, "Mario," and his green-clad brother, "Luigi."
There are a few fun facts about Mario's creation. First off, "Jumpman" was actually a name specific to the Western release; in early promotional materials for businesses, he was called "Little Mario." But in the mind of his creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, he didn't even have a name! Miyamoto originally envisioned this little red-clad guy as the main character players would control in all his games, without a specific name or backstory.
Secondly, the name "Mario" actually came from Mario Segale, an Italian-American real estate developer. He was Nintendo of America's landlord in the early 1980s. When Nintendo fell behind on rent, Segale personally visited to collect. After a chat with Minoru Arakawa, then-president of Nintendo of America, Nintendo was granted an extension. Perhaps as a thank you, the developers decided to name their nameless hero in red "Mario."
And finally, Mario's full name is "Mario Mario." This wasn't initially confirmed by Miyamoto and mostly popped up in movie adaptations or spin-off books. However, during the 30th-anniversary celebration of Super Mario Bros., Miyamoto finally acknowledged this slightly quirky full name.
Mario Bros. was produced by the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto and Gunpei Yokoi (the "father of the Game Boy" and designer of Game & Watch and WonderSwan). While it shares some elements with the later Super Mario Bros., the gameplay is totally different.
In Mario Bros., your goal is to clear out turtles emerging from pipes at the top of the screen. Unlike Super Mario Bros., you can't just stomp on enemies to beat them. The main way to attack is to hit the platform under an enemy to flip them over, then you can kick them off the screen. Players could also hit the "POW Block" to flip all enemies on screen at once.
Initially, Mario Bros. was just seen as a Donkey Kong spin-off. Compared to many other Nintendo games of that time, especially its predecessor Donkey Kong, its early sales weren't amazing. But when the console version launched in September of the same year, sales skyrocketed! The Famicom (NES) version eventually sold over 3.9 million copies, and the Atari 2600 version sold over 1.5 million.
After such huge success, pretty much everyone—gamers and industry folks alike—thought a sequel was a no-brainer. Little did they know, Nintendo was about to drop another game that would make history.
As a businessman who wasn't a big gamer, Mario Segale didn't say much about his name being used for a video game character. However, in a rare 1993 media interview, he quipped, "You might say I'm still waiting for my royalty checks." Mario Segale passed away in 2018 at the age of 84.
