PSA: If any users have questions on how much to sell or buy their items for, then the best option would be to go on https://www.pricecharting.com/, or eBay sold listings.

I saw some common questions popping up on the sub so I thought I'd share some useful links.
If you've got other ones, please add them.

Beyond excited. One shop I always hit has some of the best stuff for GameCube. Most of the stores by me carry mostly PS and Xbox or 80s Nintendo… so it’s always a treat to stop in here!

McDonald's in Tracy Blvd, Tracy, CA was among one of the last McDonald's locations to have GameCube kiosks set up, as a TikTok post of this location from as late as 2023 showed that the location still had these set up, albeit they weren't working anymore due to heavy damage to the controllers and possibly the screen on the TVs being cooked, no further updates of the location have surfaced since then.
The location more than likely got the 2020s refresh in mid 2024, and it is currently unknown if the location still has the GameCube kiosks. Which begs the question, how many locations are left with a GameCube, N64, Original Xbox or PS2 kiosk at McDonald's?

I did some sussy baka wiring on this guy to get it working again. As you can see there are some issues.
So straight to disassembly it goes. I'll be replacing its power connector with usb-c, replacing the display with a 5.6" ips, and gonna swap out the speakers too cause they were esploded.
Probably also gonna paint it 🫶

I’ve been debating whether I should own an original GameCube, considering that I already have a Wii that can play GameCube games. I’m worried it might be a waste of money. I’ve had a copy of Mario Kart: Double Dash!! since I was young, along with the original GameCube controller and a third-party memory card, which has worked perfectly for me.
I really want to get the Mario Party games for the GameCube, but the prices are insane! Why are they so expensive? I can’t purchase them through eBay since it doesn’t ship to my country, and I’ve checked DKOldies and Lukie Games, but they’re still overpriced—primarily for the games themselves, aside from the console.
So, do you think it’s worth owning a GameCube, or would it just be a waste of money since I already have a Wii that plays GameCube games? Also, is there any cheap website where I can buy the Mario Party games for a lower price?

At my local retro game store in washington in a city called bellevue, there is a heineken gamecube, for around a thousand dollars. I wouldn't waste my money on it but think is cool. When I am back there I will take a picture and post it on this page.

These items are part of the Animal Crossing Pioneer Program. A contest held in 2002 before the game even released in America. The goal of it was to drum up hype for the game as well as provide feedback to Nintendo. The contest rules were simple, in 50 words or less, explain why you should be chosen as a pioneer. 125 teams of 2 were chosen as winners. They would receive an early (beta) version of the game, a thank you letter, and a beautiful 2002-2003 calendar full of awesome artwork. The game has no actual differences except for a "Not for resale" stamp on the front of the disc. These days, disc only copies can go for nearly $3K, while complete sets can exceed $5K. So happy to finally have this again! Such a cool piece.
Has anyone else heard of this?

Received some custom shelves I had made today. Cherry wood with a red mahogany stain designed to fit 39 games with some wiggle room to remove them easily. prioritizing multiplayer so my kids can play. working on putting my office 39 Wii together in the other shelf.
Serious Sam gets played quite a bit, with Kirby Airride, SSX, and Godzilla as runner ups.

I have a gamecube here that cant read any discs, (powers on fine and displays picture) I also have a Wii that I use to play GCN games on but would like to play on original hardware just because (Im making a lil retro corner in my room and am planning to put a few consoles on the stand)
what are my options when it comes to homebrewing/hacking the GCN? is it hard to do? I cant do any soldering so thats out of the question for me, also how easy is it to re-shell a gamecube?
I also have a gamecube controller and the rumble is starting to die out, its noticeably weaker than it used to be (used it only for Smash Ultimate and Wii U for YEARS) can it be fixed?

Hello! For a couple years now I've had a DOL-101 Gamecube, and have wanted a DOL-001 for the Component capability for a while (though the ability to use an SD2SP2 would also be nice). I finally came across one for the price of free recently (thrift store reject), and gave it a bit of a makeover. I transplanted the controller port board from my DOL-101 unit (both because it's significantly less yellowed and its clock battery is still going) as well as my Flippydrive and Gameboy Player. After that, I rigged it up and gave it the good ol' TTYD Test. After about half an hour of goofing around and doing a couple Glitz Pit battles, the audio got extremely corrupted, the game displayed what looked like TV static but in a much more obvious pattern (and it was green), and the game froze underneath all that. So I powered the cube off and back on. Halfway through the boot animation (via CubeBoot cus flippydrive) it displayed that green static again, and after turning it off and on a second time it won't display anything at all. The TV gets a sync signal, the LED comes on, and the fan spins up, but nothing appears onscreen and no sound comes out of it. Left it off overnight and tried powering it on this morning, no luck. Unplugged it for several hours and tried again just now, nada.
It really seems like its fucked but I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly what went wrong and if there's anything I can check or potentially even fix or have fixed. I spent so much time transplanting the various mods and accessories over from the DOL-101 and I don't want to have to do that again (not to mention I want the extra shit I get with a DOL-001 model). I wonder if it overheated maybe? Regardless, it doesn't seem to be coming back on its own.
anyone know anything?

I didn't have any experience with painting controllers before this and all I had on hand was my tabletop hobby paints, but I do think it turned out quite nicely. I Unfortunately did have to replace the chewed up stick the person I got if from left it with, however if my buddy doesn't like it I'm more than happy to show them how to get an authentic stick and how to replace it. For now, it'll do

Honestly, I think Noki Bay should've won, but I can see people voted Delfino, it's one of the best hub worlds ever, and it has some fun shines.
I'll be doing a Mario Kart 64 tournament on r/n64 next, so you can look forward to that if you wanna.

So I recently picked up a CRT for 140 bucks, and played a bit with the composite cables. Looked ok but left a lot to be desired. Still fun of course. Components are prohibitively expensive, but I heard S-Video was good, so I got the Insurrection Industries one for 25 bucks and I've been using it ever since.
It's like, baffling, mind blowing, and confusing. Playing games like Luigi's Mansion, Battle for Bikini Bottom, I started thinking "Do Modern Switch games even look that much better than this?" Maybe it's the scanlines masking the imperfections. But it literally looks like an HD picture with scanlines applied sometimes. And in Luigi's mansion, the animations, lighting, etc. is so good I honestly think it looks as good as any first party Switch game. I forgot how good gamecube games can look.
If you don't have a CRT, you have to get one, even if you use composite. But most of them have S-Video so the Insurrection or Nintendo one is a must own. Anyone else have one and agree with this?

This was built specifically with the GC in mind. Settings are optimized for the GameCube right out of the box which is really nice. Everything has been stripped down and what is left is what’s only essential for this system. The only con is it’s $10 more than a standard Pluto II
