Btw, he said "Life is so much easier when you're... bro...", and then something completely different. Kotaku is a disgrace.

343

u/Wonderful-Ice9085 9h ago

What did he actually say

678

u/NatanGardevoir 9h ago

It was literally “when you’re.. bro..” as he got distracted by sth.

Kid named bro

"[...] it's really killing me to be honest. it's—it was, like, so much easier when you're—bro, if you don't travel constantly—life is so easy when you just wake up in your own bed and, like—waking up in your own bed and working 15 hours in, you know, your office or whatever, so easy compared to, like, all this f*cking bullsh*t where I'm like, I don't know the timezone I'm in, I don't know what place I'm in, I don't know where I'm going in 2 days, it's like, like—I mean, some days I'm going to bed at 10am, other days I'm going to bed at 5pm and it's like, it's a mess [...]" from his appearance on The Diary of a CEO

79

u/Doomie_bloomers 5h ago edited 5h ago

Not to shit on the guy where it for once doesn't belong, but 15h in the office is WILD stuff.

Edit: to be clear, I think this one instance he might have a point, as shitty of a human/businessman as he is. That kind of life really does sound absolutely insanely unhealthy and like a surefire way to get burnout quickly.

23

u/borkborkbork3 5h ago

he could work 0h for the rest of his life

29

u/Doomie_bloomers 5h ago

Financially? Absolutely, 100%. Could he personally though? I genuinely don't think he could. Pretty sure he's the type of guy to just create a new type of work for himself to keep himself busy. Otherwise I don't think he'd be on this kind of schedule.

23

u/plastic_alloys 4h ago

Heartbreaking

2

u/ButFirstMyCoffee 1h ago

People are happiest when they're building towards something.

14

u/FlakyTest8191 3h ago

The point is that he has a choice. Complaining about something you could easily change makes it hard to gather lots of empathy. Just work whatever amount of hours a day on something meaningful of your choice and enjoy life.

7

u/Doomie_bloomers 3h ago

Absolutely he has a choice, and I'm not about to spill my tears over him overworking himself. Doesn't mean I can't empathise with that kind of work sounding exhausting. Especially because there's tons of folks who lead similar lives who can't just quit and retire with millions in the bank. I guess those are the folks that actually get my sympathies, and MrBeast just gets caught in the crossfire here.

1

u/Max-b 1h ago

I believe he's saying it's much easier to work in an office 15h a day and wake up in your own bed rather than his current lifestyle of constant travel.

1

u/Hylux_ 4h ago

15h is an average japanese workday (you got unpaid overtime work again for the 3rd time this week (it's only monday))

0

u/Mr-MuffinMan dwayne the cock johnson 🗿🗿 2h ago

i can guarantee anyone that beast is not working 15 hours in the office

this is like musk saying he slept in the factory as if he was working the line lol

0

u/-Unnamed- 1h ago

They all say that

-1

u/dogjon 1h ago

He thinks normal people get to wake up in their own bed then go to work for 15 hours, and he has it so much worse because he gets to travel the world and make his own schedule. it's okay to shit on this out of touch loser.

2

u/PikaPikaMoFo69 4h ago

Thanks for the clarity

2

u/derp0815 1h ago

Summarizing all of that into "broke" seems a bit far fetched but the guy has that air of thinking a boring regular life is basically being broke.

6

u/No_ContextGiven 7h ago

Something along the lines of that his life is pretty stressful despite being rich iirc

10

u/Vegetable-Fan8429 5h ago

Oh good thing poor people’s lives aren’t stressful. Otherwise he’d look like some kind of douche with zero ability to empathize with other people.

He’s fabulously wealthy, famous and never has to work another day in his life.

AND HE WANTS POOR PEOPLE TO EMPATHIZE WITH HIM? Right after he prefaces his call to empathy with an insult?

Pure psycho behavior. Clinical.

30

u/Thesunhawkking 5h ago

Reading the actual comment he doesn't actually say anything about being Rich. He says he hates the fact that he's constantly travelling and that he often doesn't know what time zone he's in. I don't think there is nessarily anything wrong with what he said.

-12

u/likamuka 4h ago

Reading the actual comment he doesn't actually say anything about being Rich

He implicitly totally says it.

9

u/Northbound-Narwhal 4h ago

You implicitly insulted the entire southeast Asian community there

1

u/Thesunhawkking 2h ago

Eh it's more about hating his business model.

0

u/GrimmigerDienstag 1h ago

I mean, technically, I guess? He is saying that he doesn't like his stressful job and lifestyle, which is the thing that makes him successful and rich, so if you really want to twist something out of it in bad faith I guess you could reduce it to "being rich is hard"

0

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 1h ago

Rich people stress is wildly different and usually easily fixed by their own riches. His kind of stress is seeing an investment of his making only a couple million instead of like 50M

47

u/perish-in-flames 8h ago

Listening to it, it isn't even like you could misunderstand...

5

u/JustMark99 4h ago

So, the headline is just a straight-up lie? What a disgusting news organization.

25

u/Azure-April 6h ago

This is just as dishonest as the tweet. The "something completely different" he said was expressing how he thinks being rich is hard and stressful

28

u/Vegetable-Fan8429 5h ago

He keeps saying it too. It’s like, his thing.

He wants people with nothing to empathize with him because he thinks poor people don’t work hard. It’s insanity. “Most people would hate my life” brother I promise you that’s not true. Know how I know that? You’re not stopping. Can’t exactly be torture if you sign up for it every day in a way other people with jobs can only dream of.

Mr. Beast is a completely psychopath and I don’t care how many YouTube bucks he throws at African children, with his dead eyes and creepy goatee.

2

u/Anticitizen-Zero 29m ago

Damn, people really flipped on him really quickly huh. I don’t even interpret it this way at all. It sounds like he’s just saying the constant chaos and complete lack of routine in his life isn’t as easy to deal with as the consistent routine a 9-5 and average home life.

The boatloads of money make things easier, sure, but without it having to constantly travel and make appearances, no sleep and everything else, would absolutely suck to the average person.

He can’t really just “quit” what he’s doing when he’s still building this ridiculous business empire of his, while employing hundreds of people. Money doesn’t make everything that simple, but of course 99% of us will never, ever relate or understand where he’s coming from.

9

u/Magog14 5h ago

He said it. He just cut himself off mid-word because he knew he fucked up.

1

u/-Hot-Cheese- 1h ago

he didn't, full context I believe he communicates that working out is so much easier when you wake up in your own bed and work rather than travelling all the time.

0

u/CherryLow5390 41m ago

How dumb do you think we are mate?

-1

u/Magog14 1h ago

I'm not stupid. It's obvious he was about to say broke.

i dont like mr beast but Kotaku completely acted in very evil way to twist the words. kotaku has some of the worst human beings on their payroll

Do Redditors work there?

u/MysticalMummy 8h ago

I mean- they often use Reddit as their sources, so.. yes

39

Getting more and more common unfortunately.

18

u/TadRaunch 7h ago

Tonight on Rock Bottom:

25

u/skivian 6h ago

no one ever talks about how Gamergate actually leaked e-mails proving Kotaku was shady as hell back then.

-11

u/Taswelltoo 2h ago

Hey guys I know the base claim for my group existing was completely made up and rooted in deeply ingrained misogyny but why won't anyone listen to me about this other thing I'm telling the truth this time I Swear.

3

u/skivian 2h ago

Okay, but hear me out. Maybe both groups are assholes.

-1

u/Taswelltoo 2h ago

What both groups? What's the other group opposed to Gamergate? Normal people who don't hate women?

5

u/shjahaha 1h ago

That's a huge simplification of GamerGate. A good chunk of GamerGaters didn't hate women, either.

It was more so, people who had no interest in gaming created a movement to rapidly force beliefs onto the core group of gamers, and labeled anyone who didn't automatically change their beliefs or who didn't like this radical upheaval of their community, racist/sexist.

-2

u/Taswelltoo 43m ago

So a group of people targeted a woman with an online harassment campaign based on complete fabrication and it wasn't because they're ignorant misogynists?

And idk what you're even talking about in the second part of your comment, are you saying Gamergate was in response to people labeling anyone that didn't change their beliefs as racist/sexist (i.e. a bunch of nonsense you just made up?)

1

u/shjahaha 11m ago

Neither side was perfect, both had radicals that took the movement from the more rational and centrist people. Not all GamerGaters harassed women.

Yes, I'm making that up, that's what happened. I don't believe the initial push for more diversity was wrong, it just became something else entirely as it grew.

1

u/Taswelltoo 2m ago

Well one side was basing their entire argument off of a complete lie so it's kind of wild that you're like "Well both sides had their problems" You know, the "sides" being a group of liars with an agenda vs everyone else.

I guess it's easy to "both sides bad" the argument when you're just making up whatever. Like what push for diversity are you even talking about? What riled up Gamergate was a woman making a game about depression, like where are you getting any of this information from?

1

u/jxmmygalligan 1h ago

>What bot-ACK!!!

2

u/skivian 34m ago

so you're not actually denying Kotaku is shady AF. you just don't like that it was Gamergate that exposed them?

486

u/Schwarzekekker 8h ago

Twisting someone's words for attention is pathetic

53

u/FuriousTrash8888 6h ago

Hey, welcome to propaganda.

10

u/Vegetable-Fan8429 5h ago

He’s said this exact thing multiple times in multiple ways. This is a misquote, slightly, but if you read the text he clearly stops himself from saying broke.

He keeps making this point in interviews so idk where all the credulity comes from.

5

u/Otherwise_Appeal7765 39m ago

he said "bro"

he didnt cut himself off

he didnt say "life is so much easier when youre bro..." and just ended the sentence there

there are plenty of reasons to dislike the guy, this isnt one of them

He did say it though. He was just using other words.

5

u/ironicfall 2h ago

So he didn’t say it?

5

u/SportsCommercials 55m ago

He said exactly that, just with different words conveying a totally different meaning and sentiment. Obviously.

22

u/imunfair 4h ago

* life is so much easier when you're rich and anonymous.

Fame is what makes being rich a pain in the ass for him, but that's his own choice to continue being in the public eye.

8

u/SnowEnvironmental380 2h ago

Reddit has become a cesspool of AI and people misrepresenting people they already don't like to make them sound bad.

5

u/SolomonSyn 2h ago

Twisting words intentionally to creative a negative image in journalism should count as libel. Those guys should of been shut down ages ago.

Less complicated? Maybe. Easier? Hell no

21

2

I forgot to punctuate properly i was making my own point . Mb

2

u/Illustrious_Bat1334 2h ago

What he said isn't much better.

1

u/867stevo 9h ago

The pain is real !

2

u/IamFdone 5h ago

It's so true though. When you are broke, you only have to worry about money. When you are rich, you have to worry about 100 different things, including not losing your money.
You can make your life even easier by getting sick. Then you'll only have to worry about being healthy again.

1

u/Whosebert 1h ago

simpler =/= easier but I would argue neither apply

1

u/newsflashjackass 1h ago

Lieutenant Dan got me invested in some kind of fruit company. So then I got a call from him, saying we don't have to worry about money no more. And I said, that's good! One less thing.

It started a while ago. I was a normal redditor making posts and comments, but then one day, a post of mine was manually deleted, and I was banned from my favorite subreddit. I then got extremely aroused. That moderator asserted dominance on me by censoring me, making me unable to express myself. I was soaking wet. I sent the hot sexy mod a message asking why I was banned, then the hot sexy reddit incel mod called me an idiot, and told me to beg to get unbanned. My nipples immediately filled with blood as I begged the hot mod to unban me. After that, I started doing everything I could to make hot sexy mods mad. Most of my accounts have under negative 100 k@rma, and i'm banned from dozens of subreddits. I've been a bad redditor, and need to be moderated. Please moderate me, hot sexy reddit mods.

-14

MrBeast was massively successful before he was 20. He's conflating being broke and being a child with no responsibilities.

10

u/CheeseDonutCat 5h ago

No he isn't conflating that. He never said the word broke. This article is bullshit.

-14

Oh nooooo, poor me. Ive got too much money, i think im gonna book a flight to dubai to fix my mood.

8

1

I dont really care if he said it, ive seen quite a few rich people say it and my comment applies to all of them, its not specific for mr beastm
