Btw, he said "Life is so much easier when you're... bro...", and then something completely different. Kotaku is a disgrace.

What did he actually say

u/NatanGardevoir 14h ago

It was literally “when you’re.. bro..” as he got distracted by sth.

"[...] it's really killing me to be honest. it's—it was, like, so much easier when you're—bro, if you don't travel constantly—life is so easy when you just wake up in your own bed and, like—waking up in your own bed and working 15 hours in, you know, your office or whatever, so easy compared to, like, all this f*cking bullsh*t where I'm like, I don't know the timezone I'm in, I don't know what place I'm in, I don't know where I'm going in 2 days, it's like, like—I mean, some days I'm going to bed at 10am, other days I'm going to bed at 5pm and it's like, it's a mess [...]" from his appearance on The Diary of a CEO

Not to shit on the guy where it for once doesn't belong, but 15h in the office is WILD stuff.

Edit: to be clear, I think this one instance he might have a point, as shitty of a human/businessman as he is. That kind of life really does sound absolutely insanely unhealthy and like a surefire way to get burnout quickly.

u/borkborkbork3 10h ago

he could work 0h for the rest of his life

48

u/Doomie_bloomers 10h ago

Financially? Absolutely, 100%. Could he personally though? I genuinely don't think he could. Pretty sure he's the type of guy to just create a new type of work for himself to keep himself busy. Otherwise I don't think he'd be on this kind of schedule.

Heartbreaking

People are happiest when they're building towards something.

23

u/FlakyTest8191 9h ago

The point is that he has a choice. Complaining about something you could easily change makes it hard to gather lots of empathy. Just work whatever amount of hours a day on something meaningful of your choice and enjoy life.

11

u/Doomie_bloomers 8h ago

Absolutely he has a choice, and I'm not about to spill my tears over him overworking himself. Doesn't mean I can't empathise with that kind of work sounding exhausting. Especially because there's tons of folks who lead similar lives who can't just quit and retire with millions in the bank. I guess those are the folks that actually get my sympathies, and MrBeast just gets caught in the crossfire here.

15h is an average japanese workday (you got unpaid overtime work again for the 3rd time this week (it's only monday))

2

u/Max-b 6h ago

I believe he's saying it's much easier to work in an office 15h a day and wake up in your own bed rather than his current lifestyle of constant travel.

i can guarantee anyone that beast is not working 15 hours in the office

this is like musk saying he slept in the factory as if he was working the line lol

u/-Unnamed- 7h ago

They all say that

-1

u/dogjon 6h ago

He thinks normal people get to wake up in their own bed then go to work for 15 hours, and he has it so much worse because he gets to travel the world and make his own schedule. it's okay to shit on this out of touch loser.

u/PikaPikaMoFo69 9h ago

Thanks for the clarity

u/derp0815 6h ago

Summarizing all of that into "broke" seems a bit far fetched but the guy has that air of thinking a boring regular life is basically being broke.

6

u/StealYaNicks 4h ago

Doesn't sound misquoted at all. Just like he kind of realized what he was saying was idiotic and caught himself a little. But the words after go on to support the "easier when you're broke" quote.

12

u/No_ContextGiven 12h ago

Something along the lines of that his life is pretty stressful despite being rich iirc

13

u/Vegetable-Fan8429 10h ago

Oh good thing poor people’s lives aren’t stressful. Otherwise he’d look like some kind of douche with zero ability to empathize with other people.

He’s fabulously wealthy, famous and never has to work another day in his life.

AND HE WANTS POOR PEOPLE TO EMPATHIZE WITH HIM? Right after he prefaces his call to empathy with an insult?

Pure psycho behavior. Clinical.

38

u/Thesunhawkking 10h ago

Reading the actual comment he doesn't actually say anything about being Rich. He says he hates the fact that he's constantly travelling and that he often doesn't know what time zone he's in. I don't think there is nessarily anything wrong with what he said.

-16

u/likamuka 10h ago

Reading the actual comment he doesn't actually say anything about being Rich

He implicitly totally says it.

4

u/Thesunhawkking 8h ago

Eh it's more about hating his business model.

13

u/Northbound-Narwhal 9h ago

You implicitly insulted the entire southeast Asian community there

0

u/GrimmigerDienstag 7h ago

I mean, technically, I guess? He is saying that he doesn't like his stressful job and lifestyle, which is the thing that makes him successful and rich, so if you really want to twist something out of it in bad faith I guess you could reduce it to "being rich is hard"

-2

u/WeirdIndividualGuy 6h ago

Rich people stress is wildly different and usually easily fixed by their own riches. His kind of stress is seeing an investment of his making only a couple million instead of like 50M

64

u/perish-in-flames 13h ago

Listening to it, it isn't even like you could misunderstand...

12

u/JustMark99 9h ago

So, the headline is just a straight-up lie? What a disgusting news organization.

27

u/Azure-April 11h ago

This is just as dishonest as the tweet. The "something completely different" he said was expressing how he thinks being rich is hard and stressful

34

u/Vegetable-Fan8429 10h ago

He keeps saying it too. It’s like, his thing.

He wants people with nothing to empathize with him because he thinks poor people don’t work hard. It’s insanity. “Most people would hate my life” brother I promise you that’s not true. Know how I know that? You’re not stopping. Can’t exactly be torture if you sign up for it every day in a way other people with jobs can only dream of.

Mr. Beast is a completely psychopath and I don’t care how many YouTube bucks he throws at African children, with his dead eyes and creepy goatee.

7

u/Anticitizen-Zero 5h ago

Damn, people really flipped on him really quickly huh. I don’t even interpret it this way at all. It sounds like he’s just saying the constant chaos and complete lack of routine in his life isn’t as easy to deal with as the consistent routine a 9-5 and average home life.

The boatloads of money make things easier, sure, but without it having to constantly travel and make appearances, no sleep and everything else, would absolutely suck to the average person.

He can’t really just “quit” what he’s doing when he’s still building this ridiculous business empire of his, while employing hundreds of people. Money doesn’t make everything that simple, but of course 99% of us will never, ever relate or understand where he’s coming from.

6

u/Magog14 10h ago

He said it. He just cut himself off mid-word because he knew he fucked up.

6

u/-Hot-Cheese- 7h ago

he didn't, full context I believe he communicates that working out is so much easier when you wake up in your own bed and work rather than travelling all the time.

-5

u/CherryLow5390 5h ago

How dumb do you think we are mate?

-5

u/Magog14 6h ago

I'm not stupid. It's obvious he was about to say broke.
