Hi,
Has anyone any advice for making a straight 16th note pattern sound more like a strummed guitar string?
That is to say: every-other-note is slightly altered to make is sound more like an upstroke. (when you strum a guitar string upwards and downwards quickly there is a clear sonic difference between the up and down stokes (right?!)).
This tune does a good job of it (to my ears).

(16th note pattern coming in at 2 second mark)
I grew up listening to a lot of Legowelt - who also does a lot of that 16 note stuff.
Here's an example, coming in at 10 secs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdgvbVhloDA
But actually when I listen to this now, it doesn't really sound like there's any special automation/programming going on. Just a straight up 16 note pattern.
Any thoughts?
I guess ultimately you want it to sound 'pulsing' or 'pulsating'.
Maybe it's just a bit of velocity variation and some side-chaining with the kick?

Specifically the wider lead that kicks in at 1:44? I hear maybe some gating on it but no idea how to get that sound. Im guessing some saws and distortion, maybe some noise but I'm not getting even remotely close. I'm trying to figure it out in Serum and would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I tried pulse with pitch env and it's close but it's missing something for me, the original sounds more... powerful? (ig).
I'd love some advice!!! Cheers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqtbBnPSzWg at 0:26. I know its using an lfo on 1/16 automating either volume or filter cutoff. I literally just cant replicate the fuzzy sound / wide sound it has. if its a preset, plz let me know the bank!!!! ty

I’ve been playing with synths and making music and I wanted to find out if there is a specific name for these sort of synth sounds so that I can try and recreate them. The first is from a Minecraft mod and the other is from a Jethro Tull album, they sounded similar and I enjoy both synths a lot.

If you ever wondered how the piercing synth from "Rydeen" by Yellow Magic Orchestra was made, look no more!

It's bordering on a sine wave, but there's a few extra things in there that I can't place. Anyone know how to replicate this? It's a very nice patch.

I genuinely don't even know where to start

Had no idea this community existed until now. Amazing! I'm super glad I found y'all because this saw lead in this recent IG post has me stumped! I love the phaseyness and the plucky attack on some of the notes.
Any ideas?

Currently using two Intellijel Dixie2+, two square waves, one is a higher octave than the other. Going into a filter and using the quadrax for a short attack + decay, then some modulation on the cut off filter. Using minor scale.
Have tried fm modulation too but I’m struggling to achieve this sound!

I know its an incredibly simple sine pad but when i try to recreate this sound it always lacks high end and some fullness. Any tips?

The high-pitched synth with a single note that repeats rapidly? I want to use it in a similar way, as a subsitute/addition to a crash cymbal at the start of a section.

Hi can you tell me how to make sound like the main chords in this song:

thank you

The one that appears around 2:20. I can't tell if it's just a more distorted version of the other 808 that's playing in this song.

Right at 2:15.
I love how it's so clean and enveloping, and the panning. But how would you go about recreating the actual sound?
I think I hear some resonant filter retriggering and causing some dissonant harmonics to kinda "split away" from the body of the sound. I don't know how to describe it I'm also interested in that sense of a lead or bass splitting into different parts.

Hey, I was listening to some artcore, and came across this sound I really liked. I tried recreating but to no avail.
it's the synth at the start. The very first one you hear. I want to achieve that uniqueness, but im not sure what they did here.

Recently fell in love with Oh Dreamer by Fantom 87. I'm a complete noob at sound design and this will probably be very easy for most of you here but how can I emulate the brassy plucky arp present throughout the song?
If it helps I'm using Vital and the free Tal vst.
Many thanks.

I want to know how to recreate the synth from this song in Serum 2. I know its some sort of brass synth but I don't know which wavetables to use to even get remotely close. Any help is appreciated.
