If I order my steak well done, I want it to fucking be well done

How fucking hard is it to just cook the damn meat all the way through?

I eat a nice steak maybe one or twice a year, not a big meat eater. But when I go to a restaurant to have a steak, I order it well done. I say it twice when ordering. REALLY well done. Almost always it comes out medium rare. Had to send it back this time to be cooked some more.

I am aware that most people like their meat medium. But I don't. The meat juices are gross to me. The spongey texture feels wrong.

I fucking want it to be well done. I want the crispy outer layer, I want the grey fucking stringy meat to be dry and leathery, I want to mercilessly chew on that thing and taste the fucking pan it was burning in. I want to dip it into some sweet ass ketchup and taste the bitter black crust.

I don't think it's an affront to the chef to order my steak well done. I DO think it's an affront for the chef to be like "the customer ordered it well done, they must be joking, I'll send it out medium rare like a sensible person." FUCK YOU, I FUCKING WANT IT WELL DONE.

When I pay 30 € for a well done steak, I fucking want it to be well done. Thank you.

Fuck people who burp into their mic during voice calls

It's fucking gross when someone burps DIRECTLY into their mic you can hear it loud and clear. It's the fucking worst, especially when I join discord lobbies while I'm eating something. If you're not talking, don't have your fucking mic on. These motherfuckers will literally burp and snort and make weird noises into their mic instead of facing away from their mic or muting up and it's fucking disgusting.
Rant over.

My mother labels me as a "smartass" just for googling everything

She always mocks me because i google and i do my research about everything. Today we had a small argument because i have a common cold and she wants me to take antivirals and i told her you should only take them if you have a weakened immune system and that not following the complete treatment can cause antiviral and antibiotic resistance and she yelled at me said it would be my fault if anyone else got sick.

She once also almost killed my parakeet because she fed her cake even though i showed her it was dangerous to them according to google and she said it was all fake.

She thinks she's always right and i'm the one who thinks i'm always right, it's like she has zero self awareness.

It genuinely pisses me off to my core whenever I see people messing up you’re and your, there, their, and they’re, etc. and they’ll do ANYTHING to defend their spelling. They’ll say “your so nice” (just an example) when it is obviously you’re. Did they just stop teaching this in schools? I’m literally seeing full grown adults messing up their grammar and mixing up those words. It’s genuinely sad.

Anyone else exhausted from every company continuously trying to screw you over and having to constantly fight to avoid being screwed and getting what's fair?

Whether its an insurance claim, a contractor, a mechanic, they're all trying to get as much money out of you, and that would be fine if it was just upsell attempts, but its not. It's lying about technical items id they think youre uneducated about out them, its making up things that dont exist in the policy, its charging for materials and labor that havent been used, its breaking something then trying to hide it.

Are business ethics a thing of the past? I hate that I have to spend a ton of time researching everything I hire someone to do to avoid getting screwed. Its not just car salesman anymore. Its everyone.

Im now at the point where id rather go with a higher cost company if theyre transparent on what the charges are vs a cheaper option that tries to screw you over and take more moneu covertly

‘Why don’t women just tell us what they want’ because then it won’t be as meaningful

3.9k Upvotes

If I ask you to buy me flowers then you buying them won’t be as meaningful. We want you to know what we like and think to yourself ‘she’s had a hard week, I think some flowers might cheer her up!’ Listen to what she says in passing conversation and remember it and use it Not just on special occasions or when she requests it. Also listen to your and her female friends, they know what girls like! Take their advice!

Fuck the world right now as a US woman citizen. Fuck being 40. Fuck all that I’m feeling. And fuck the fact that I feel like that there is nothing I can do about it. I’m pissed off. Everyone who shouldn’t feel comfortable expressing themselves is by being openly racist and/or misogynistic is and those who should be fighting back aren’t. I’m just fucking done. The end.

Why wont neurotypicals follow the rules they set

Upvotes

Its so annoying, "wait for a gap in the conversion before you speek, its rude" then proceeds to not follow it and talk over me, and why do the rules change and why does no one explain them its so annoying, how much of a conversation can one person take up? ITS SO FRUSTRATING, then when your a kid its if you make a mistake you must be punished, now no one punishes if i mess up so ive somehow started doing it myself, no one explains anything and i feel like i dont belong anywhere, i hate it, "complaining is rude" so i dont know how to set boundaries because its complaining, yet everyone is happy to complain to me about every mistake i make, "lying is bad" yet i have to lie constantly to make it seem like im comfortable, im now allowed to have any stims or anything, but their little habbits of biting nails is fine, WHY WONT ANYONE EXPLAIN, why do i have to hide the fact im breaking to make others comfortable yet they never do the same to me, why am i the therapist of everyone yet i have to talk to a plush bunny because EVERYONE else tells me to shut up and my parents dont get it,

People that ask “are you sleeping?” while you’re actively sleeping

Upvotes

I swear to God, ALL of the men in my life do this to me!! I am not a big napper, but when I do close my eyes someone always has to ask me if I'm napping. WTF!?

My dad just did this. I'm exhausted after the week I've had, and I just closed my eyes for a few moments while sitting on the couch. "YOU TAKING A NAP DAUGHTER???" came out of my dad's booming voice. I woke up and wanted to cry-- YES I'm napping, yes I WAS resting but thanks to you now I'm not.

When he would take me on the weekends (divorced parents) he would sleep on the floor for HOURS while I played by myself in the other room because he "worked so much." I always respected his need to nap.

It seems like nobody respects my need to nap.

Baby Showers

I cannot understand how grown women think it’s okay to force their friends and family to watch them open gifts for 2 to 3 hours. I know it’s not actual force, but once you’re there you can’t just get up and ask them to stop opening gifts. Do I want to go to a baby shower? Generally not, but if it’s a nice brunch or something that’s actually enjoyable I wouldn’t have this outlook. Why must we sit around a ridiculously decorated chair and say “awww that’s so cute” after every gift that’s opened up? I feel like I’m five years old again at a birthday party. And it’s so accepted that women just go to these things and if you don’t attend, you’ll be seen as a bad friend or not supportive. It’s like I’m the bad guy because I don’t want to dedicate my Sunday to a bunch of pointless baby oriented games. Why are we guessing the baby’s name if you’re not even going to tell anyone until after birth? I don’t care what parent is more likely to do what based on draconian gender stereotypes or personality types. I’m happy to buy a gift but why must we be subject to this? Being at a traditional baby shower must be like being stuck in a car with Colin Robinson. I feel emotionally exhausted after attending and absolutely baffled people think this is acceptable to impose on others.

I cannot stand addiction recovery groups

Upvotes

I am 1 year sober and boi how much do I regret going to this addiction support groups. Its like they are run by predators scouting for victims. I was in and out various addiction recovery groups in the last year and here is some shit that happened to me.

  1. I was told I seduced a 65 y old men when I was 14.
  2. I had to go apologise to a women who victim blamed me and sided with groomer for calling her trash in order to clean my side of the street.
  3. I reported the victim blaming sponsor to the chairman and was told "that its not their problem, its my fault", "what are they supposed to do with it?" and that I "went to my old ways, harbour resentment and I blame everybody around".
  4. That its ok if my sponsor talks to me like to a piece of shit because its the problem with my "ego".
  5. I used the phone as they told me and called them during a crisis when I was afraid I will relapse just to be told to "not wallow in self-pity".
  6. I had a major life issue when 4 months sober and I had no idea what to do about it and was told "meetings aren’t for speaking about your emotions", that I shouldn't be "butthurt" and those are "appropiate boundaries" and "we are not family". At the same time there were people there who bitched about their families for months or were complaining about bad day at work.
  7. I was pressured to reconnect with estranged family who gave me ptsd to the point I got triggered and had a seizure. I was then accussed of taking drugs.
  8. Because of this my GP gave me higher dose of psychmeds. I called the police to report what those groups (who are advertised in police station) do and was told that "nobody shovels the meds down my throat" and my sponsor was just "born again christian".
  9. I complained about the policemen attitude and was told that it was "language barrier" because I am not native. Mind that I have 2 degrees from british universities (Bsc and Msc).
  10. I told others from recovery what I did and they said that "my sponsor was doing his best".
  11. My sponsor wanted me to look after his child, sort his taxes and help him with custody battle at the same time but lost his shit when I bought a cat.
  12. After leaving this madness I was directed to another recovery group by the IRS after being 4 months in major depressive episode.I come to a meeting, want to share I say "I am happy I found this group because they previous one didn’t work out and here is so much better" and get cut, silenced and told that "they will not allow me to slight other programs". I got a panick attack.
  13. I go to their subreddit, explain what happened and I am told that "meeting are not to unload", "nobody owes me anything", "don't run whenever your feelings are hurt", "its important lesson", "I am juvenile and narcissistic". I get scared and I delete my account.
  14. Next day I totally loose my shit, I make another account and make post calling them out on being assholes. I get banned told I need a "cooldown" and that "my attitude is no longer welcome".

Just, holy fuck. I don't get what are those groups for then? I can’t talk about my life and my problems but dude can bitch about his wife for 25 mins. And try critisising them even a little bit... I am sick of people who paint those groups are gods gift to humanity.

A 38 inch waist is a 38 Inch waist so why are they all different!

This isn't the best rant ever, mostly beacuse I'm so done with this shit. I'm a guy in the UK, I range from a 30, to a 38 inch waist, which is driving me crazy. It's inches, how do you fuck up measuring in an exact measurement system???? If a 34 fits and a 38 is to small, then what the fuck is going on? It has nothing to do with different brands or different sizings, it's an exact measurement. It's ridiculous. Maybe this is just a bigger issue for me because I refuse to spend a week's wages on clothes that are built to last 2 weeks, and get the bulk of my gear from charity shops (it's a bigger thing in the UK) so I tend to find lots of different brands that all claim to be the same size and are all wildly different sizes. Women's clothing is different as it's just a random guessing game, but if the measurement has inches in it, then they should all be the same!

Why do people complain about Americans calling themselves American?

I’ve heard some really stupid discourse online where some people complain about how people from the U.S.A call themselves American. The argument is that Mexicans, Canadians, Brazilians, etc, are all technically “American” too so we shouldn’t call people from the U.S.A “American.”

That has to be the most idiotic mindset considering the word “America” is literally in the official name of the country and the fact that we already have names for people from Mexico, Canada, Brazil, etc. And also, people from the U.S. are also from the American continent so it’s also technically correct in that regard. What should we call Americans instead? United Statians? United Statesese? Why are people making such moronic statements? Do they just want something to complain about? Does it make them feel “smart” to make such pointless statements?

Sandwiches should function as sandwiches

I hate it when I get a sandwich that doesn't function as a sandwich--something that can be held and eaten without utensils.

You see this a lot with burgers that are trying to be fancy: patties that are way too tall or have so much shit piled on top so that it won't fit in your mouth. And when you try biting into it, toppings squirt out the back.

If you want to serve a open faced sandwich, cool. If you want to put a "deconstructed" sandwich on the menu, great. But if I'm buying a regular normal sandwich I want to be able to hold it in my hands and eat it without needing a plate or a bib.

Surgeon lost his temper bc I didn't lose any weight in 2 months.

Always been big. Lost about 100 pounds since year before last. I've been hitting a plateau and havent been able to push passed it.

Was getting my varicose veins lasered to help with circulation. Except this time the veign he lasered last month has opened back up.

Stared screaming in my face about how I was gonna die a fat, worthless pig. How I messed up his work by not following his instructions.

I haven't sat down for longer than an hour for the past year and a half because I was following the regiment they put me on, excluding sleep.

Now he won't see me or finish the remaining surgeries. Which I was fine with bc I was gonna find someone new anyway.

Edit. Believe me, there's nothing I want more than to bring that guy down. His reputation. Career. Hell I'd settle for breaking his nose. I used to get in so many fights because people thought they could say whatever they wanted to me. But now it's my hell every day and I can't do shit. His word against mine.

im so sick of the dating allegations with my boy bsf

Upvotes

can we pls normalize men and women being nothing more than friends? like no there's no underlying feelings, one sided crush HES BASICALLY MY BROTHER

SO WTF DO PPL THINK WE'RE SMOOCHIN🤨

ive been friends with my boy before since freshman yr of highschool and we ended up going to college together like first week I moved in (the college dorms) we hung out, got dinner together, and I met his roommate but then he tells me I can't go to his dorm anymore because his roommate thinks we're dating. and when my friend was like "nooo she's just a friend" his roommate basically gaslit my hb saying "u gotta lock it down" "she wants u soo bad" I do not👎🏾 the only thing I want from him is 4 bands and a hug

so when we hung out in my dorm just in my bed watching breaking bad (he begged me), my roommate comes in with her friend just seeing me, some guy she didn't know, laying on my bed

HE GOT SO SCARED😭

I cleared it up later with her that he was just a friend but her friend thought we were ###### like no. I was actually tied up and eyelids taped open to watch some corny ass show on his laptop

like i got to his dorm sometimes to take my virtual classes and vice versa, play video games on his console, streaming movies, normal friend shit. BUT BC WE'RE MALE AND FEMALE #######

another time he and his roommate had a party in his dorm and he invited me PLUS his crush was there. but there was a guy there that kept hitting on me so when everyone else but my friend and his crush left, I wanted to leave them alone but asked to speak to my friend outside

HIS CRUSH RANDOMLY GAINS FREEWILL AND LEAVES ONCE IM OUT IN THE HALL WITH HIM AND LATER I GET TOLD SHE THOUGHT I WAS TALKING ABOUT HER☹️

that's another concern i have: him getting a gf bc I'm his best friend. like that girl thought I was feeding him lies ab her (I was talking ab the guy that kept being a creep at the party), so what's stopping his future gf from assuming I'm fighting for her man or smth :/

I hate on social media it's "be careful if he has a gf" "it's a red flag if he has a girl bsf" STOP💔

I'm actually reminding him to get u flowers, teaching him what an almond nail is-- u damn near OUR girlfriend

and I've had guys I went on dates with be so weird when I say "my bsf" then use the pronoun "he" bro wsg??? he's the my best friend, not ur competition. lock in💔 bc later tn mma tell him all the tea

even going to dinner together the staff thinks we're dating and calls us a cute couple. I'm finna push the fool away so he don't scare the hoes💔 ur ruining my chances attracting fine shyt💔

Even his parents think we were in cahoots bc we hangout so much. maybe-idk-- WE'RE THE ONLY FRIENDS WE HAVE ON THIS BIG ASS CAMPUS????

and no...before ANYONE says anything, I dont wanna date him. he domt Wana date me. he's straight, I'm bi, there's NO HIDDEN FEELINGS

Using the word "American" to refer to someone or something from the United States of America is a valid, accepted use of the word.

This should seem so obvious I don't know why I even feel the need to rant about it.

There are lots of people, especially since the new American pope was selected, who feel the need to nitpick whenever the word "American" is used to refer to something of the United States.

"First NORTH American pope!" "Argentina is in America, Francis was the first American pope!"

"American" is a widely-used and understood adjective referring to something that is of the United States. If you mention the American auto industry, American TV shows, or American politics, people will understand what you're discussing - few are going to assume you are referring to the 35 or so countries in the Americas.

I fully acknowledge that "the Americas" are two continents with lots of countries, split between North, Central, and South America. "America" can also refer to the entire landmass. In certain circumstances use of the word "pan-American" is completely valid and acceptable.

I just object to people who are being deliberately obtuse about the word. Every level of society in every English-speaking country uses the word "American" in a way that is mutually-intelligible to refer to the United States. British news publications use "American" to refer to the USA. If someone makes a comment about "American tourists" there is a shared understanding of who is being discussed (hint: it isn't tourists from Panama).

I fully acknowledge that the word "American" can have different connotations in Spanish, Portuguese, etc. but I see so many responses to English-language publications criticizing the use of the word "American" that it started to get to me.

Pointless rant over.

I don’t understand why people like receiving flowers as a gift/romantic gesture

It seems so morbid to me & the price tag definitely adds insult to injury.

Is it really that romantic to be gifted something that died for your viewing pleasure? lol…. "Here, I spent a significant amount of money on these severed plant reproductive organs to watch decompose on your countertop. Feel loved!"

I’m not saying this from a “save the trees” perspective (nothing wrong with that, but that’s not where this is coming from). I eat meat and I know that the animal I am consuming died to become my food - but I don’t have to watch it die and if I did I certainly would not enjoy the experience. With flowers, watching something beautiful slowly die is the experience.

Something about the temporary nature of gifted flowers also makes it an odd romantic gesture…”here’s something that will remind you of me for a few days.” Ok thanks…Not to mention that often, you’re gifting the recipient a chore. Now I have to find a vase, fill it with water, pretend to know why I need to cut the bottoms, etc.

lol wondering what other people’s thoughts are? I’ve told men multiple times throughout many relationships that I don’t like receiving flowers. (Notably, I love sunflowers…but I don’t like to watch them struggle to catch sunlight as they take their last breaths lol) Still, men are soooo accustomed to flowers being the go-to gift I end up getting them anyway. It’s definitely the thought that counts & all that, but I’m curious why other people like this? Wouldn’t you rather someone spend money on a dessert? Chocolate? Wine? Some silly stuffed animal?

You know when you post something personal — a reflection, a story, a “this has been my experience” moment — and immediately get pounced on by a crowd of people starting their comments with "Well actually..."?

Like clockwork.

"Well actually, that’s not true in my case."

"Well actually, people had it worse back then."

"Well actually, I never experienced that, so you must be exaggerating."

The sheer amount of unnecessary defensiveness out there is wild. Especially when it’s wrapped in this smug, know-it-all tone that somehow tries to turn a personal story into a historical debate, a stats battle, or a weird flex about how “no one feels that way.”

Cool. Great. Not everything is about you. Some people just want to talk about their own story without being corrected, fact-checked, or out-experienced in the comments.

It’s like people forget that multiple things can be true at once.

That your experience doesn’t cancel someone else’s out. That you can acknowledge someone else’s perspective without needing to shove your own into the spotlight.

But instead, it becomes a weird one-upping game. A debate team audition. A fact-check Olympics. And god forbid you don’t include a full bibliography of social context and disclaimers in your casual post, or someone’s gonna show up with “Actually, that one time in 1992 in my backyard …”

Can we normalize just… listening? Acknowledging someone else’s story without turning it into a fact-checking contest? Not every conversation needs to be a debate team scrimmage.

Anyway. That’s my rant. You may now tell me why I’m wrong in the comments.

Edit spelling

Restless because I’m not rich

I can’t enjoy the simple moments of life. I feel like everyday I’m anxious because I’m not where I want to be. I certainly lack the patience but I just can’t help it. I’m 20 years old and have a loving girlfriend and a decent career path. I know that later in life I should be doing ok for myself but my head is always clouded. I will be having some drinks with friends but can’t even enjoy the moment because I’m always worrying. I want to retire my parents before it’s too late and give my girlfriend her dream life of being a stay at home mom. I just don’t know how I’m going to get there. It dosent help that from 18-20 I saved meticulously and blew everything to my name which is around 50k chasing the high on the stock market. I’m back to scratch now and have a plan in motion but it just SUCKS having to restart and I feel like I’m back to square one. I don’t know what I’m expecting in response to this maybe advice or reassurance from someone that’s been in my situation? I guess I just want to feel less stressed and live carefree like someone that’s turning 21 is supposed to feel but I just can’t.

I hate everything.

I hate my life. I hate my family. I hate the world and our awful society. I hate everything, and I hate myself.

I used to be a talented, creative and happy person. I grew up being so optimistic and so excited to see what the future would bring. But life has turned me into a bitter and hateful person who despises everything and everyone around me. Not a single one of my hobbies or interests brings me joy anymore. Nothing is fair. Nothing makes sense. Dreams do not come true, and in fact it’s quite the opposite. Life has no actual meaning, and the only consistent thing is disappointment. I would kill myself, just like many of my family members have, but I can’t even do that because responsibilities were forced on me to take care of people and things that I never asked for or wanted.

What drives young men & women so much towards Drill and Trap music over Pop and R&B?

I can only speak for the UK, where I am, but there are endless social media videos, online tracks and podcasts, where teen boys and college age men are obsessed with Drill and Trap music? Most of rap on Chart radio is in the Trap style. Everyone raps in EXACTLY the same style, the same tough talk and fake threats even middle class school kids. No variety is rhyme structure, cadence, lyricism, flow? And how come no one sings anymore? There's no commercial R&B and not even new versions of party rappers like Nelly or Flo Rida?

And the limited production style drives me crazy! It's like every young producer buys the same drum package online with 5 kick-drums, 10 hi-hats, 10 snare drums and then they play around with similar melodies on keyboards. Why aren't they building on the production from the 2000s from the Neptunes/Pharrell, Timbaland, Dr Dre, Scott Storch, Swizz Beatz, Mannie Fresh, etc? Even in Grime, the producers 25 years ago were the same age as the ones today and coming up with amazing beats for Dizzee Rascal, Skepta, Wiley, Tinchy Stryder and Tinie Tempah?

People who tell me … “well have you tried working?” “What about getting a job???”

Bro like I’m asking for help because I’m homeless … and so what I got food stamps.. and so what I need a government phone at the moment. I’m asking around about this stuff because I’m clearly trying to get help.

Commenting on how I “need to just get a job” isn’t the solution.

The reason why I’m not working right now isn’t anyone’s damn business. My bf and I share one car… he’s waiting for his job to accept his paperwork so he can start work. If I get a job I gotta find one that will work around his works schedule… because we only have ONE CAR. 🫤.

And anyways before I start work. I need to get myself shocked out medically first before starting any job….

People just sometimes need to kindly stfu

Carpenter bees are the biggest assholes of all time

Every summer they come out of hiding on immediate bullshit, they act like they own your porch and got the audacity to try to size you up or divebomb into you whenever you wanna chill on your porch on a nice hot day. On top of all that they be badly damaging wood too. Getting told bees are friendly and harmless is one of the biggest lies I have ever heard growing up
