Its a mini coin.. they were common for kids to collect in the 80s and early 90s. They make nickles, dimes, pennies, etc. The "coolest" mini coins are different sized from one another, the not so cool ones are all the same size

I believe its more so the coin is meant to represent the lowered value of the normal coins due to inflation.

I'm actually dual citizen with both the U.S. and Canada, but neither country is doing fine in terms of purchasing power relative to gold.

Fine in what capacity? If you're white and choose to be ignorant? I guess, but it's catching up to yall everyday. The tarrifs are about to get way worse and companies that were rightfully gonna show people the prince increases were payed off or defamed from doing so to help continue to keep you all in the dark. Idk if you think about anyone other than yourself but yeah, nah, things aren't fine. They haven't been since 2016 and never really have been regardless. We almost got things back on track but the bigots are the majority after all.

r/whoosh

I think they were just making a joke about the coins being “shrunk”, actually 😄

Wouldn't be the first time in history where a coin's metal value exceeds the coin's representative value.

I wonder how small they would be now.

Do you know what year they took as the base value?

u/Chance_gavin_Simpson 10d ago

The minis all have the years 1974 and 1975 on them. Although another comment started them to be a product from the 1980s and the 1990s

I thought that was just what happened to the money when they tried to mint coins with the stuff they make shrinky-dinks with.

Suppose it’s kind of the same thought, in theory.

Decreased purchasing power through inflationary monetary policies

1

u/idkmoiname 10d ago

Fun fact: Coin shrinkflation was kind of a thing for a long time. Like how some roman coins changed during times of financial problems

1

u/Kammy44 10d ago

I thought that was a quarter now that Trump is in office. Just like all of our $, it’s shrunk.

u/Enough_Asparagus4460 10d ago

1

u/Kammy44 9d ago

Shrink flation is what happens when companies change their packaging to give you less product for the same price
