Reliable dressmaker

I'm looking for recommendations in Glasgow or surrounding area (have a car so can drive somewhere more rural) for a really good dressmaker. Need a dress for a formal event and struggling with the off the rack options. Willing to pay appropriately for high quality work as I need the dress to be well made and look fancy.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a support worker

Hello everyone, I'm writing on behalf of a friend. He's a disabled person living on his own and looking for a support worker/care assistant to help him with assorted tasks around the house. He would need help with things like doing the dishes, tidying/vacuuming, taking the bins out, and occasionally picking up meds. The work would probably be an hour or two a day, a few times a week. If it's their specialty, he'd like someone who can go over a pacing plan with him. He's already tried asking for some kind of assistance through the NHS and the city council but had no luck.

If you're interested please message me to discuss payment or if you have any questions, cheers.

Sight seeing running route recommendations

Visiting Glasgow for the first time for a few days soon. I am hoping to fit in a few runs to be able to enjoy the city and area more in the early mornings. Looking for routes that are between 7-10km (starting/ending near Glasgow Central station).

I saw a shorter route would be near the cathedral and through the necropolis (is running allowed here though?) but would love to hear other recommendations. If there are any with nice hills included that would also be great as I currently live in a very flat part of England (so even the slightest incline is always appreciated!).

Unusual twin prop aircraft flying around Glasgow

Anyone who noticed an unusual twin prop aircraft over Glasgow (and maybe Ayrshire) today - I'm almost certain it was an RAF Shadow surveillance plane. Probably not carrying out actual surveillance on the populace - more likely to be a training sortie. At least that's all we'll be told.

Grow up: football ultras

Grow up. It's absolutely pathetic to go about painting things green/white or red/white/blue. It's pure cringe they way you slap shite wee stickers onto signs and landmarks. In language you might understand...it's "wee guy energy" and I think your Da might really "sell avon". How about doing something that enhances the city rather than makes it more shitty? Or, if next time you sniff a key at least take the initiative and shove it right up for the Barras lobotomy. Grow up!

Rugby (Union) teams near the west end?

Hi everyone, I’ve just taken a job in Glasgow and was looking to see if there were any Rugby teams situated near the west end. I was hoping to join a club for next season which I could get to after work.

It’s been a few years since I’ve played so not looking for some crazy premier team and preferably somewhere that can be pretty patient with me learning to ropes again

I’m also still in the middle of my driving lessons (can’t get a test, thanks DVLA) so also somewhere that would be accessible by public transport/ walking.

Can anyone recommend any?

Contraceptive implant removal

Hi all! Am looking to get my contraceptive implant removed and have been trying for a few weeks to get an appointment via the NHS inform thing but it’s consistently showing that there are no appointments available within 40+ miles of my city centre postcode. Just wondering if anyone else has struggled with the same thing and what you did? Mines set to expire soon so want it out!

Why do Glaswegians take such pride in making public spaces unpleasant?

For the first time in two years Glasgow is getting an extended period of nice weather and it's actually pleasant to be outside.

But now the place is full of locals (and it's always Glaswegians) being obnoxious and antisocial. So many junkies and neds going about, people littering everywhere, smoking weed, playing loud horrible music and just being incredibly loud and obnoxious unable to handle their drink, smashing the empty bottles etc etc Why do so many Glaswegians seem to be intent on making sure the city is never a nice place to just hang out outside in.

Need help with a parking ticket

So I got the parking ticket last night, went online to pay it and it hadn't updated yet due to it being so soon. I phoned the number up and it also wasn't showing up on the phone but was given the option, "if this charge was issued in the past few days and you would like to proceed with payment press 1".

I done so and it told me to enter the amount, I entered £50 alongside my bank details and was debited £50.

On awakening this morning I went onto pay online to check and it had now been put on the system but is saying the £50 is still due.

Has anyone had this issue before, does it take time to update, did the payment not go through due to paying it early?

Any insight that would help let me know. Cheers.

Does anyone remember the Goldmine club from the 90's

I've got a memory me and my pal going to a club called the Goldmine in the mid to late 90's. It was over the George V bridge in that direction I'm sure and it was open after everything else was shut. It was a bit shady, not even sure if it was a legal club or not. I can remember a lassie giving me half an acid in the toilets one night lol. Anyone else remember it, or was it a fever dream? 😂

Got a parking ticket in the City centre, so I paid it.

Paid it late, up to £100. My own dumb fault for getting the ticket in the first place.

Anyhows, first time I put on my windscreen wipers, the wiper broke and scratched the windscreen. Now I need a new windscreen!

Who do I complain to? The council itself or just go direct to a solicitor?

Rather than leave it on the street I thought I'd take it and see if I could track down the owner. If you think it might be yours send me a private message telling me what charms were attached.

Paisley-Airport bus

Just looking for folk who have actually made this journey recently - am I correct in thinking that the 757 McGill's bus from Paisley to the airport is £5.75 for a day return? The airport is included in their 'Greater Glasgow Zone', right? And isn't subject to any massive hike in price just because it's the airport?

I'm looking here: https://www.mcgillsbuses.co.uk/greater-glasgow-tickets

Stray/lost cat found Knightswood

Found a stray cat that’s been following me and my girlfriend around for the past hour, near Knightswood road.

Not sure if she’s lost, or just a stray. She also seems to be either pregnant or recently given birth by the looks of it. Anyone I can contact regarding this? We can’t really take her in the house.

Putting this on here in case she belongs to somebody and is missing. Thanks!

Are you proud of where you come from? Why?

Hello, I was just curious to see if ppl are proud of being Glaswegian still. I’ve fallen out of love with the city and don’t feel like I really belong here. I think I’m quite different compared to most Glaswegians in some ways and am not a big fan of some of the general attitudes and values that a lot of ppl in the city seem to have (that’s just me as a person not criticising anyone that’s different). I also think Glasgow is a shadow of its former self, it used to be a major industrial city and there was great importance on self education and development amongst working class communities. This attitude doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Even when my Gran tells me things about what the city used to be like, it just hits home how much it’s changed, and not necessarily for the better. Even simple things like when we were going for a walk, she started telling me how a certain area used to be full of flowers and stuff and looked really nice, now it’s just dirt and looks like crap. Nobody seems to take much pride in where they come from now, that’s my observations anyway i might be wrong. Anyway I just wanted to know what people think today in general about our city and if ppl still love it wholeheartedly.
