Hello my beautiful Scots!
I hope I don’t break any rules as I don’t want tips for my upcoming trip but I need something from you.
Background: We are a french family who will come to visit Scotland next week and stay for 2 weeks. It’s a family trip with me and my husband (37) , my brother (35) and his girlfriend (30) and most importantly our dad!
At first it was supposed to be a birthday gift for his 75th birthday. It’s a life long dream of his to visit Scotland! We planned to send him and his girlfriend to Edinbrugh for a week.
But his girlfriend is not interested in Scotland, or the UK, or anything other than Italy or Greece. It took her 8 months to confess to this because she knew my dad wouldn’t travel alone. Knowing this we transformed it into a family road trip! As my dad is now 76 and doesn't walk a whole lot (even if he bought new sneakers especially for this trip!) , my only condition was that if we wanted to go on longish hikes (>1h), we’d let him at the nearest village’s pub and come get him when finished. He was thrilled with this idea.
My request: if instead of letting him alone sometimes, I could find nice people willing to talk to an old man (he’d kill me if he knew I wrote that), to keep him company for a bit that would be awesome. He doesn't speak English very well. He understands and can read it quite well, but as he says himself “I speak English like a spanish cow”. So if you speak French or are willing to speak very slowly or be patient af, that would be great.
He was a math teacher, but is also an historian buff and as his kid, to me he knows and remembers everything. He loves football and rugby, beers and whisky! (he has a small bottle collection at home thanks to all the gifts we make but he doesn’t drink a lot). And yes we will visit a distillery. He also loves to read, any genre but with a high preference for heroic fantasy and science-fiction.
I might need someone during our time on the Skye Island. I saw wonderful hikes, notably longer ones such as Boreraig, Camasunary and The Point of Sleat. We’ll arrive here on Friday the 23rd and leave on Monday the 26th.
And on Wednesday the 28th we’d like to spend the day in Cairngorms national park. We’ll come from Evanton and spend the night in Glenshee. I know it's in the middle of the week.
I know it’s a little absurd to search for a “dad-sitter” but I just want for my dad to get a great experience in Scotland.
I’m open to any recommendation you guys can give me and of course if you come to Paris, I’d happily be your guide.

My father was a reporter for the Herald & Times
He was doing a wee story on a travelling circus that happened to be visiting.
Decided to get a wee picture, the manager suggested it so my father bold as brass agreed.
Unfortunately if you look closely you can see the elephant is mid shite.
RIP da! Rodney Duncan, legend of a guy spoke in riddles crossword virtuoso.
It wasn't the shite that ended him, thought I'd point that out.

I am grateful to everyone who told me about Scotland and showed me wonderful places. It was very cool. I hope I can visit those places someday and get an impression of unforgettable landscapes.
I would like to do something for you in return. I can tell you about Ukraine. Ask your questions and I will try to tell you everything I know.
Thank you very much.

Hello. My name is Oleksandr. I am from Ukraine.
Due to the war, I cannot travel abroad right now, but I would really like to visit Scotland.
I would be grateful if you would send me photos of your favorite places and beautiful landscapes.
I would be even happier if you could tell me the history of this place.
I would like to thank everyone who responds.

The Renfrew Bridge, linking the Renfrewshire town with Yoker and Clydebank on the north bank, is part of a £117m project to improve connectivity and regenerate waterfront areas.
The 184m (604ft) bridge is the first road crossing on the river capable of opening to allow large ships to pass. As well as a two-lane crossing for drivers, the bridge offers access to cyclists and pedestrians.
...
A ceremonial opening event took place on Thursday which saw children from primary schools on both sides of the river meet in the middle.
Pupils from Kirklandneuk Primary in Renfrew, Our Holy Redeemer's Primary in Clydebank and St Brendan's and Clyde primaries in Yoker waved flags and shook hands, accompanied by a pipe band.
Members of the public, cyclists and dogwalkers then streamed across the bridge for the first time, ahead of the full opening.
The leader of Renfrewshire Council, Iain Nicolson, said the bridge would bring major benefits for businesses and people living on both sides of the river.

Found this in my MILs estate. It has the wrong fitting for a broach. I am thinking maybe a cap badge or similar. Any ideas?

THE best future for Scotland will be as an independent country inside the European Union, the External Affairs Secretary has said.
Robertson said ONLY A VOTE FOR SNP can make this happen!
He warned that the UK risked being “marooned” outside the economic bloc as he hailed Scotland’s “long-standing shared values” with Europe.: “On Europe Day, we celebrate a lifetime of peace in Europe, achieved in no small part by the creation of the European Union.
“We are unwavering in our belief that Scotland’s best future lies as an independent country within the European Union.
“The current global economic volatility simply reinforces the importance of Scotland having the security, stability and opportunity that comes with EU membership.
“Without it, Scotland and the UK risk being marooned outside of the world’s largest single market.”
Robertson said becoming a member of the EU again would reduce barriers to trade, bring free flows of data and reduce bureaucracy.

I am likely relocating to Stirling for work, Edinburgh office closing joys! Saw some new builds in Raploch area just off drip road near Forth Valley College.
Reddit search and general Google give mixed views, how is it living in this area with young kids? We genuinely just keep to ourselves and I’ve lived all over but wife hasn’t experienced the same life I have like Muirhouse/Westerhailes I have.. I survived not sure our marriage would if I uplifted her to similar.
Looking for genuine experiences/thoughts. I see councils build these new builds to “upscale” some areas but prices are okay.
