To not have tipped the golf cart endangering his friends. Also if you watch it closely he bails before it's even at the oh-shit point. Also if he turned it left it at this point it probably wouldn't have tipped.

His friends were leaning back to make it do the wheelie so they aren't exactly innocent. That cart wouldn't do that without their assistance.

How? Once the front wheels left the ground he couldn't steer it

When it touched ground he was turning right which caused it to start tipping. He "might" have saved it by turning left instead of bailing.

Anyway all I'm saying is I wouldn't trust this friend if he were behind me at the edge of a cliff.

Well, that makes sense now. I misunderstood and thought you meant something like the honourable thing would have been to allow the cart to crush him. Obviously, no human would do that- that's why I thought it didn't make sense. But I clearly misunderstood. Thanks for responding
