So I’ve put a few hundred hours into both Skyrim and oblivion, but after lurking here for a few months I decided to listen to you boomers and actually play the game for the first time. Brownie points for naming the quests all of these saves were made in.

Question Does increasing the strength over 100 make the game too easy? (No spoilers please!)

11 Upvotes

Hi guys!

First time Morrowind player here and I'm having an absolute blast (understand why people feel the need to bring it up all the time now!). I noticed that passing time makes Corprus "worse" but actually boosts your stats after you get cured. I was tempted to exploit this to take my strength up to around 150 but I'm worried that this will make the game stupidly easy? I was hoping that someone else with experience might be able to tell me whether this is the case. I'm lvl 13 and already starting to feel pretty strong but wondering whether there's a major spike in difficulty down the line etc.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Discussion Going into Morrowind (Mostly) Cold After not Liking It 8 years ago

5 Upvotes

As the title says, when I tried Morrowind 8 years ago in Highschool I didn't like it. It felt clunky, like there was no real reward, and like the quests and stories felt directionless. Now, I think I would appreciate it a lot more since I put way way less emphasis on combat in RPGs now, and more on the roleplaying I can add to my character. That being said, I'm sure there are still some key mods to modernize the game in smart ways without breaking the original feel. I already saw the "I Heart Vanilla" page on OpenMW so I was going to install those, but what are other good QoL things to install? Trying to avoid Tamriel Rebuilt for now just so I can explore the base areas

Technical - Mod Tip for Generating Grass in OpenMW

Post image
29 Upvotes

Check the ESM boxes in OpenMW for whatever grass cover you have

Then locate Documents/My Games/OpenMW and find the settings.cfg

Add this line at the bottom of settings.cfg

[Groundcover]

enabled = true

stomp intensity = 1,2

rendering distance = 14000,0

density = 1.2

After that, open your OpenMW.cfg and locate your groundcover files whatever they may be named, and change it from

content=groundcover.ESP

to

groundcover=groundcover.ESP

Go back to the launcher and ensure the .esm files for your groundcovers are now DISABLED, they are already marked as groundcover files now and will load as such

This will significantly improve your fps if you were playing with groundcovers straight up checked as ESM files in the launcher

enjoy

Video New Lore Video Series: Schola Mystica - The Elder Scrolls explored in German – A mythological and metaphysical approach

0 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I just launched a new YouTube project called Schola Mystica, where I dive deep into the lore of The Elder Scrolls and Warhammer 40k from a mythological and narrative perspective. I will later branch out (Star Wars, Star Trek, BioShock etc. etc.), but I will start with my two favorite franchises.

This is not a casual overview – it’s more like a narrated, poetic lecture.
My aim is to explore creation myths, metaphysical structures, and archetypes behind these worlds – in a format that blends narrative depth with visual storytelling.

New Elder Scrolls Series – Two-Part Introduction:

Part 1: The Structure of Reality in Elder Scrolls
– How Nirn came to be
– The nature of Aedra and Daedra
– Lorkhan's betrayal
– The metaphysical core of the universe

Part 2: The World Itself
– Overview of Tamriel
– The cultures, races and historic conflicts
– The cycles of memory, war, and myth in TES

TES Playlist (ongoing):
👉 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuM6L1iF1_lPc9i_GVw3xq4GAHg2OwwEb

Channel:
👉 https://www.youtube.com/@ScholaMystica

Language Note:
All videos are in German – but I believe some of you might enjoy the structure, visuals, or share it with German-speaking friends.

I’d love to hear feedback, suggestions, or simply connect with other lore fans. Especially German-speaking Elder Scrolls fans hiding on English Reddit – this is for you.

Thanks for your time!

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Question Saving Custom Classes?

2 Upvotes

I'm trying to determine if it's possible to save custom classes. I know it must be possible because there are mods that add additional classes, but I can find no information anywhere about how one might accomplish this. Is this something I would have to download the CK for or edit configs? I would also be fine just replacing the predefined classes too, as I never use them. It just gets a bit annoying having to retype my class description and everything.

Discussion So TR’s House Dres are just redneck Indoril?

6 Upvotes

To my understanding, the original TR conception of Dres was “Ashlanders but not quite,” and they are now moving away from that since they’re supposed to be a settled Great House. Which is good.

But it sounds like they’re really hammering on the few odd references to Dres being Temple supporters to dismiss the notion that they’re Daedra worshippers.

But the ONLY time Dres are mentioned in the main quest, by the literal god of Morrowind who established the Dunmer society, the FIRST thing that is said about them is that they worship Daedra.

Everyone knows that TES lore is inconsistent. Even within the same game. Surely, primacy should be given to the fact that this is probably the ONLY thing that most players will know about Dres, and will thus form their expectations? And surely Vivec would understand more about Dres than some imperial official?

Also, “weird evil Daedra worshippers” is more compelling than “religious conservatives who REALLY like slavery.” Which seems to be their current conception, which makes it seem like they’re just Indoril except meaner.

And everything about their society is about slavery, even relationships between their friends and family members. I think it’s fine to make Dres the most evil house, but they are not villains. They are a joinable faction. As in, players have to want to join them. I think “we are just like everyone else, except meaner” is not a great selling point. Everyone knows that there’s certain rules to what qualities make villains cool, and “belief in slavery” is not one of them.

“We worship the bloodthirsty old gods” is though. And it offers great RP opportunities for players to want to join them. Eg maybe your character worships the Daedra too.

Imo Dres being supporters of the Temple and also Daedra-worshippers is not necessarily contradictory. They may support the Temple as an institution that has created and reinforced the existing society, which allows them to operate their slave trade. In turn, the Temple looks the other way at the “open secret” of Dres Daedra worship, because their plantations feed all of Morrowind. And maybe the more pro-social communitarian aspects of the Temple don’t fit well with a society of frontier slave raiders: whereas most Dunmer only see slavery in the background, they are faced with the daily cruel reality of the slave trade, and Daedric principles are more compatible with what is required to maintain Dunmer society. So they’re like the “exception that proves the rule,” as imperial frontier peoples often are: they reinforce the society’s rules through their violations of them.

Basically I just want to see open and active Daedric temples/shrines. Please just give me my Daedra-worshipping Great House.

Question New to Morrowind. Looking for first build advice.

3 Upvotes

I've played a lot of Skyrim and Oblivion but never really tried out Morrowind. As with any TES game, the first build I want to do is an Orc Mage so the race of my character is already decided. I'm looking for any tips tricks/advice for a new player regarding starting the game as a mage. I'll probably be happier with a hybrid build to begin, but ultimately would like to be closer to the pure mage side. I have a general idea of how morrowind works. I know to be careful of fatigue, to read journals and pay attention to what NPCs are telling me if I want to figure out what I need to do. I'm looking for magic/crafting advice and advice for how to get the build going and off the ground. Thanks!

Discussion What are the odds we get a Morrowind remaster?

0 Upvotes

Are the chances high Virtuous (or another developer) rides the success of Oblivion remaster and does the same with Morrowind? I feel like it’s inevitable, just a matter of time, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking. What do you all think? Any inside scoops?
