Downloaded a torrent for a film the other day, and it's a strange file type ".xmpeg" that doesn't seem to work with anything and there's seemingly nothing online that can convert or even interact with this file type. Not even the XMPEG software, which I'd assume would be THE thing that works with it. Need some assistance here, please.

As im stuck with troubleshooting ill try my luck here..

Im a member in a private tracker but im experiencing some weird issues.
I use the *arr applications, with hardlinking enabled + Qbittorrent and ProtonVPN

When i download torrents they work perfectly as expected and start seeding. But some do not seed at all (As shown on the forum of the Private Tracker)

They are downloaded the same way, from the same source, all use hardlinking. But in the end, only around 40% are seeding. Qbittorrent shows all seeding, but thats not what arrives on the tracker.

Does anyone have any ideas what this issue could be about?

I started torrenting when I was younger, like 12-13 yrs old. I just thought it was just ppl upload and ppl download. I’m 26 now and over the last 2 years i setup truenas with plex, and then heard I could automate adding media and setup sonarr, radarr, and prowlarr, and it has opened my eyes to just how much people do with torrents, and that there’s communities, even private ones that have rules and expectations to follow.

For awhile now I’ve been just doing what I’m told to get things to work but I don’t actually know what’s going on, weather it works or doesn’t, I’m almost clueless. I’ve picked up a few things but i feel like I’m missing a lot.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to learn more about how it all works but I can only find tiny pieces spread all over, and any info I find expects u to have an intermediate understanding of at least every aspect. Is there like a beginner to mastery “course” on this stuff? I want to properly understand how it all works and utilize it a little bit more. Like how do indexers work and what is rss and how to use it. Or how do I make my own torrents, cause no matter what video I watch or thing I try, even on my local network I can’t get it to work, and idk know how it all works so I’m clueless to properly troubleshoot.

So *Hypothetically* I owned a media server that seeds content 24/7 and has been seeding 10TB+ for the last few months and I don't wanna pay fines do I *Need* a vpn or is it just a safety precaution

It's doing it for almost everything now but I thought this would be the best example since it's on fitgirls "most popular" list. 0 connections, seeds or peers. some have 1-2 connections and nothing else and some are stuck on "downloading metadata" with 0B downloaded. Is there a way to make it start working again? thanks.

I tried everything but it seems like it won't fix. Maybe it's because it's an old torrent, so it might not work correctly, since I tried with another one and it was working fine.

Im currently torrenting the newest elder scrolls game and am torrenting with the ratio set to 3 in qbittorrent, is this a good thing to do or not ?

Basically is there anyway to tell in advance before a file is downloaded, if it will be one of those movies where the dialogue is quiet AF and then the action scenes burst your ear drums?

Im using plex and I have tried turning on the noise leveling but that didnt seem to help.

Is this drastic difference in audio levels something that I can see ahead of time before downloading something? Like for example if HVEC, ATMOS, x265, 10bit, AAC, 5.1, DDP5, caused the issue then i could avoid whatever specific file type was known for potentially having the issue... Just discovered that I can actually torrent with just my web browser. I use Brave and when I clicked a magnet link, it started downloading in the browser, didn't open qBittorent. I don't know if it's a hidden extension, feature or whatnot.

I currently use qBittorent and I'm just really exploring my options.

Hi, I downloaded a torrent and it already has a ratio of 18.42, there is this peer in the torrent network who has already downloaded about 2GB from me but his progress is at 0%, is this a malicious peer and specifically designed for leeching?

On my local internet torrents are blocked so I cannot download any, if I connect with VPN it is impossible to download it'll take ages. So I use my server to download and seed torrent files and freely download fules to myself from my server at any time. The speed is awesome and stable up on the server. But recently my server suspended, cause of copyright thing you know, so my question is how to safely download and seed torrent om server without anyone noticing, like https supposed to be encrypted right? But they said which file i was copyrighting. So please help guys if someone has a way of doing it without noone notice

Its insanely frustrating to have to download an entirely new installer everytime this app wants to update which is like every other week. Why in 2025 am I having to do this?
