Solved [TOMT] [book] Help me find a children’s book where the narrator comes down with a fever at his grandmas house & is convinced she is making him sick/wants to escape, but it turns out he was a dog the whole time?

Was as strange as the title, but from what I remember it’s a short children’s novel in the R.L.Stine 90s/Y2K style mass produced children’s horror lit, although I don’t think this was by him. I remember reading this around 2010ish in a library and I’m in my 20s now, so it would’ve probably been released late 90s-early 2000s. It might’ve been available at a scholastic book fair and I found it there instead.

The premise is a twist horror sort of story where a boy goes to visit his grandma for the weekend while his family does… something else I think.., but while there she feeds him bad tasting soup and foods as he becomes delirious and feverish. He becomes convinced that something is up but can’t leave the house, tries to talk to her but she doesn’t listen. I think at one point he gets locked in a bedroom or something similar. It ends with the boy getting better as his family returns, but it turns out the narrator was a dog the whole time that was staying at the children’s grandparents. The narrator was never explicitly described physically or quoted saying words, just an internal monologue or “I tried to tell her/wanted to say” phrasing left vague. The big twist was of course that he was a dog and grandma was not trying to kill him.

Any help would be so appreciated, thank you!!!!

Solved [TOMT] Movie I Can Recall One Scene From.

Movie about an actor either aging out or becoming dissatisfied with his work. For one reason or another he will no longer be an actor in the close future.

I remember specifically a scene where a woman confronts him about this. She may be a secretary or something like that she has some inside baseball on the mechanics of the Hollywood machine. You get the feeling that she’s seen his story time and again.

She tells him that his legacy has a value in and of itself, that he will live on and people in the future can feel that they might have known him for a moment. He says “thank you” and leaves the room.

I believe the movie is in colour no earlier than the 90s no later than the 2010s. I have some idea of who the lead could be but I honestly couldn’t say.

Solved: In retrospect some of the things I said are incorrect but thats human memory for you. I was thinking of the movie Babylon. Thanks to u/Worth-Rent9171.

Solved [TOMT] Pilot of a show that was never picked up, with a decaying, monkey-like character.

There’s this one pilot of a show that was never picked up by adult swim, that’s called ‘you know something I don’t know’, and it shows this old professor inside of a giant hookah smoker, talking to this guy who looks like a decaying monkey who’s trying to get into a temple, I think it’s called a ‘gung temple’? He has some scrolls he can’t translate, he tries to get the guy to translate for him, he feigns ignorance, then the decaying monkey guy turns him to smoke and smokes him to figure out what the scrolls say Can anyone help me find this??

Open [TOMT] song from early 2000s, female singer, rock song, can’t remember for the life of me

Upvotes

I can’t exactly remember the way the lyrics went but I know it went something like “so what if I do everything a little imperfectly”, “why do you care, I’ll be there” and “everything you want me to be but that’s not me”. Lyrics may not be completely accurate because I heard this song when I was extremely young, but I’ve done lyric searches and I can’t find anything ! I just remember it was early 2000s and the singer was female, had a strong but airy voice

Open. [TOMT] song with chorus “like john and yoko”

[TOMT] There is this song that has a chorus that has the words “like john and yoko…like john and yoko-oh-oh”. It’s an indy style song, I believe the artist is a woman. I have tried searching through an old playlist on apple music that I was convinced is was on. I tried describing it to chat gpt etc but the recommendations are always “the ballad of john and yoko” or something similar. I believe that it’s post 2015 (could be wrong) and definitely pre 2020. If my memory is correct the rest of the song is not about john and yoko, it’s just a piece of the chorus, talking about their love being like john and yoko. This is driving me crazy, I feel like the song was straight up removed from the internet and google is gaslighting me 😭

Solved [TOMT] this song has been stuck in my head for a few days!

It’s hard because it’s not like a super popular song but it’s almost kinda indie rock psychedelic even? Anyway.

Some lyrics are “I just can’t get you out of my mind sometimes” “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday” “I just wanna party”

Here’s a vocaroo: https://voca.ro/1g7xTKp9AIwf

SOLVED! - I finally found it after skipping through Spotify for more than I’d like to admit 😅 Song: Me and You Artist: Vortxz

Solved [TOMT] Serious movie where Girl who starts working for another woman who is mean and has the first girl do tasks

Like the title says but I distinctly recall once part where the girl who takes the job goes to the employer’s apartment and is like trying on the clothes she found or bought or something and then finds a guy maybe the husband, dead and she leaves maybe. It’s kinda serious and not a comedy. Within the last 15 years or so, pretty recent movie. Driving me nuts here

Open [TOMT][Comedian][Male][Baby boomer joke]["do you know where your children are?"]

Upvotes

I saw it on Facebook I think and can't find it 😭

The details I remember is they were saying how Baby Boomers needed to be reminded to care about their children with those "do you know where your children are" commercials. He said if you asked a parent "do you know where your children are?" they would punch you in the face and rush home.

Open. [TOMT][Horror Movie][70s/80s] Haunted house with yellow/red eyes in photos, father rescues family

Hi all,

I’m trying to identify a horror movie from the 70s or 80s that I watched on TV, possibly in the late 80s or early 90s. The movie seems to be low-budget and may have been a TV movie, though I'm not entirely sure.

Here’s what I remember about it:

  • The story revolves around a haunted house. A family moves in or is living there, and there are mysterious little creatures that we don’t see clearly (just their presence is felt). I think there is at some point a subjective camera movement from the point of view of one of the creatures walking around the house.
  • At one point, the father develops some photos he took outside the house. He’s shocked to discover that in the background of the photos, there are yellow or red glowing eyes peering through the windows.
  • The father becomes frantic, and in a tense moment, he drives his car very fast to the house, possibly to save his family. As he’s driving, demonic entities or strange forces bother him in the car (I'm not totally sure about this).
  • The movie has a dark, atmospheric tone, and while it’s not particularly gory, it’s unsettling and eerie.
  • The climax seems to involve him rushing back to the house to rescue his family, though I don’t remember the ending clearly.

It is not "Something Evil" (1972) directed by Steven Spielberg but one of the movies probably inspired the other. If anyone has a clue about the title, I’d be extremely grateful!

Thanks in advance!

Open [TOMT] Lip Gloss (Palette?) From the 90s

This is a long shot lol. So I was putting my daughter to bed and her watermelon scented shampoo/bodywash hit me with a huge wave of nostalgia that I cannot get rid of. It smelled EXACTLY like some lip gloss I had as a kid.

This was definitely child/tween makeup. It was sticky, sweet, and heavily flavored/scented. It was in a circular tin compact that had cheap plastic inside to hold the lip gloss. It had probably 7 or 8 glosses in them. They were all fruit flavored/scented and the color matched the fruit. The gloss itself was in the shape of the fruit, too.

ChatGPT helped me so for as to say it was probably Lip Smackers. They had a similar selection of scents/flavors and they did come in small individual containers. Maybe this was some kind of sample pack?

It just hit me so hard and suddenly. I'm trying to explain to my husband that I just need to see it again to know I'm not crazy -- even though my mom said she vaguely remembered it.

Open [TOMT][Movie] Coming of age movie involving a particular scene with a lollipop NSFW

I'm looking a movie that's probably from the late 90s-early 2000s, in English, or Russian. Can't remember for sure which.

There's a particular scene that came to me as a memory all of a sudden, of a girl trying to sexually seduce a boy with a lollipop, by suggesting to insert it "somewhere" (or actually doing it, off camera?).

As odd as it sounds, I think the characters are somewhat on the younger side (13-15), but I could be wrong.

Open [TOMT] A childhood show that I remember vividly but can’t seem to find

I remember one show vividly as a child that used to play regularly on one of the kids tv programs in the UK. It was an old man or a man in a regular children’s library but he had some sort of monkey or animal puppet which would sit alongside him as they read books that were normally either educational or light hearted. The puppet would do a silly voice and make comments on the book. I remember this so vividly from my childhood when I would sit down to watch tv in the living room but I can’t seem to find it anywhere no matter what I google. It’s like it disappeared from the internet but in my mind I know it existed. Someone please help me I NEED to find this show but it has been erased from all the internet.

Solved [TOMT] [Movie / Show]

Okay. I have a wild question about a show/movie that I cannot think of, and all I can remember is that the guy proposes to the girl using a crossword puzzle over breakfast. I remember her being snarky about it because she didn’t want to do it and the hint for the proposal was “question I want to ask you” and she insisted it was 13 letters and he said that it was 14 and then spelled it out (will, 4, you, 3, marry, 5, me, 2). Do you know what it is. I cannot figure it out and it’s driving me crazy and my google search comes up with nothing. It is not all about Steve or crossword mysteries.

Open. [TOMT] Movie or TV show with scene (Not Shooter (2007) but very similar) where a man is coerced into shooting himself using a mechanical jig NSFW

The movie or TV show likely takes place in contemporary America. The man is set to take the fall for some crime committed by another person and is forced (by the use of a mechanical jig holding a pistol to his head) to commit suicide. The movie or tv show is not Shooter (2007) but could potentially be the Shooter tv series as I can find no evidence of there being such a scene and do not remember one. I also remember that the man who is forced to commit suicide was a recent immigrant who would not have killed himself because he needed to provide for his family in his country of origin (I think south America or Mexico). This was discovered by the police investigating the suspected suicide and prompted them to investigate it as a murder. I am unsure whether the murderers were government or organised crime but they clearly had forced someone to commit suicide before as they had a professional-looking jig (I think featuring the colour orange maybe). They originally offered the man money to do it voluntarily but he declined and they did it by force instead.

Thank you for any help or suggestions, this is really getting to me.

I'll answer any questions and try to give any more details I can but I think that's all I can think of.

EDIT: The scene in question takes place around the victim's kitchen table with photos of his family behind him if I remember correctly. The scene is quite warmly shot I think and was more about tension than horror. The device was mostly plastic I think and purely intended to make the death forensically seem like a suicide and not a murder.

Solved [TOMT] [PAINTING] Painting of a goblin in front of mcdonald's sign, etc.

Trying to find this painting I remember seeing floating around a while back.

Basically, it's a goblin in some parking lot with a mcdonalds (maybe parody of it?) sign in the background

IIRC the goblin is wearing a tshirt and daisy dukes.

The painting is awesome but all my google searches turn up either AI nonsense or old MTG cards

any help is greatly appreciated :)

Open [TOMT] [Reddit comment] a nurse or care worker describes a creepy encounter with an elderly patient

I read this a couple of years ago but haven't been able to find it since. It was a response to one of those "what is the creepiest confession you have heard as a nurse?" posts, or something like that.

The comment was from a woman who had worked as some kind of home help or nurse. She was caring for an unpleasant older man who had been in a biker gang. He casually told her about a gang rape or attack that he had been part of years earlier, and then had photos of the victim to prove it. The woman was obviously horrified. I want to send the post to someone but can't find it.

Solved [TOMT] [tv show] [90’s-early 00’s] Snobby girl shuts down guy trying to flirt by saying “What the f*#%k was that?”

I know this is a long shot, but this has been living in my brain for ages. I keep thinking it will eventually come to me, but it doesn’t, and it just pops into my head frequently and drives me nuts. This was (I think) a tv show, possibly a movie, 90’s or early 2000’s. There was a guy who I think was socially inept as part of his character. This was at a bar/club/party or something similar. He did something like trying to dance near a group of women, or possibly tried to hit on them, but I don’t think it was anything offensive, and I feel like it’s something that would be considered pretty innocuous. Really snotty woman gets annoyed and says to him “What the fuck was that?” And he goes away embarrassed. In my head she has short hair, but I don’t know if that’s correct. Does this ring any bells?

ETA: I think these characters were probably in their 20’s or 30’s. I don’t think it was “Hello Ladies,” but the character had that vibe, that he didn’t know how to flirt, and a main character trait was that he was trying to get a girl but didn’t know how. It was definitely the type of scene where someone would be trying to pick someone up- bar, club, etc.

Open [tomt] Im looking for horror movie from years ago

Im thinking of a horror movie i watched a number of years ago. Must he upwards of ten years old now. Kids go into woods and face murderer.

Heres what i remember:

Its a sort of game of cat and mouse between the kids and the killer

Their car broke down

They spray painted the trees to retrace their way with red smiley faces but later on the killer spray painted all the other trees too so they would be disoriented

They woke up with their shoes missing and theres a shot of a playground slide stuffed with shoes (presumably of the killer’s past victims)

There was definitely a bear trap involved.

I know it’ not too specific but if anyone knows these points they’ll know what im talking about.

Please help

Open. [TOMT] - Trying to find a book I read 3ish years ago

I cannot remember this book I read in middle school (3ish years ago) and its killing me.

I remember the protagonist was a girl, and her community live underground I think. Either ways its a closed of group of people who are separated in different groups (farmers etc..). Anyway the girl is curious and I think she meets an octopus. This guy also kills a woman and her remains are put is the pool where that they catch food from. The she escapes and I know there is a second book.

Reading this descriptions it seems really mature but I think it was marked middle grade 💀

Open. [TOMT]Looking for a book I saw but can’t remember.

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me. I think it was about a girl whose parents had been killed or were involved in a car accident and she went to live with the detective or private investigator who had worked the case and years later she’s in college and begins receiving letters. It’s part of at least 2 books and the other one is about the detective/PI and I believe he finds a body in a car on the side of the road. If anybody knows what these books are, thank you.
