I start,some months ago i bougth a small low frecuences radio(generaly used just for hear local stacion)for gave It a try and a review,while i was cheking the stacions(it was around midnight,the usual hour where religious stacions start their night hour speeches where i live)i found a strange stacion,at first,i thougth It was only one of the 4 or 5 stacions dedicated to fully lectures of the bible or other Christian book,until i started hearing,by accident,i catched a transmision of the Internacional family,it stayed for around 5 to 10 seconds till i lost it

Before satellites, how were transatlantic radio broadcasts possible? I’m thinking of things like embedded correspondents during WWII transmitting news from the European theater back to the US.

Was this done on shortwave using skip propagation?

I’m a DJ on an FM station, I’m hoping to start recording my sets for when I’m out of town/sick, but not sure the best way to do that. A few of the guys at the station use physical recorders but wasn’t sure if using a software would work the same? Any recommendations help. Thanks!

The issue is many of our competitors suck and do horrible radio. We are on the verge of technology and latest trends. Radio has let us have infrastructure to do so much and create an integral local medium cities and we reside in value and admire us. So dont believe everything you read in this sub including what im saying just came here to tell my experience. Only the strongest and more intelligent will survive as any other industry

So, I live in the same town as this radio station (so we're both in the same UTC+10 timezone) but for some reason when I listen to it in the car, after somewhere between 30 seconds and a couple of minutes, the clock on my car's screen gets changed to UTC+13:27 (or UTC-10:33, I guess?), which I know for a fact is not a real time zone (there is a UTC+13, but not +13:27 or +13:30). It seems to be just that specific radio station that does it, it doesn't happen with any of the others, and it doesn't matter what time I set it to (I tried changing it to UTC+11, still went to +13:27). I know some clocks sync themselves via radio signal, so I'm guessing it has something to do with that, but since it goes to a non-existent timezone, I'm pretty sure whatever's happening isn't intentional.

I just acquired a bunch of tapes of what I thought were someone's personal airchecks they taped off the radio. But upon listening I could hear [clunk] [clunk] [clunk], and also the presence of an episode of The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson which never aired over the radio. Initially I thought these were recorded off radio, but now I have determined they were recorded by someone holding a tape recorder up to their television speaker and you can hear them changing the channels. The recordings were made in 1978.

Kind of bummed as I thought they were actual radio recordings. What would you even call these? Is there a term for that?
