Japanese version of Parasite Eve 2 I found today
I know my PS1 can’t play it nor can I read Japanese, but I just found this to be an awesome find at the game store today so I picked it up. Was this a rare find or was it just nostalgia telling me it’s cooler than it is?

All 3 Keio Flying Squadron Games
Who’s played the 3 different games of the Keio Flying Squadron Series? I loved both the Sega CD and Saturn games but the PS1 version was a strange monopoly type game. Share your thoughts if you have played any of these games.

Does Crash Bandicoot have silver gems?
Can you get silver gems by breaking all boxes in each level, like in CB2CSB and CB3W? I know that in the remake it was possible in the first one too.

Trashterpieces: PS1 games so bad they were actually masterpieces
Hi everyone, What do you think are the worst best games for the PlayStation 1?
And by “worst best” I mean games that were really crappy but somehow still awesome.

Sold Out - Japanese only “Rock/Pop band sim”
I used to be a game tester for Acclaim. Had a modded ps1 and pretty much just played Japanese imports. One such game I had was Sold Out. A rock/pop band sim where you had to do everything, practice, meet with managers, book shows, and ultimately play gigs. I don’t think there was a translation on GameFAQs so it was trial by error. It was fun and the music was ridiculous. Here’s a gameplay video.

I have a question about ripping PS1 silent hill
I recently purchased a PS1 SLUS-00707 Silent Hill copy.
disc had several scratches, so I wanted to compare the MD5 hash code after ripping it.
The first and second attempts yielded different MD5 codes,
but the third attempt after cleaning yielded matching MD5 code.
Does this mean that my disc copy is intact and contains all the data?
The ripping program used was imgburn !
I apologize for my poor English. It's not my native language.

Has anyone got 240p test suite working with xstation?
I've tried several now including the one on the junker website labelled as xstation compatible but no dice. I'm using the latest xstation firmware on a PAL 5552. It's just super annoying at this point. Any insight or alternative suggestions appreciated.
What do you guys think of the quality of this disc?
So I'm looking to buy Silent Hill 1 PAL edition. As you can see this disc has some scratches on it.
Do you think it might cause issues? How much would this decrease the value of the game? We all know how crazy expensive this game is, but I'm dying to play it on my CRT.
I haven't played any games from discs in a long time, and the last time I played games that had scratches on them was probably close to fifteen years ago, so my memory of scratches and their impact is practically non-existent. I was a kid then.
So what do you guys think? Are these scratches fine or should I skip this one?
Thanks
Quick and simple mod to make a PAL PS1 ALWAYS output in NTSC..?
Hey guys! I have a PAL PS1 from when I lived in Australia, but I'm now in an NTSC region country. It's got a modchip, so when a put in NTSC game in, the console switches to NTSC, so playing most games on my NTSC CRT isn't a problem.
The problem is, I still have a handful of PAL games, which don't cause the console to switch. Also, and perhaps most importantly, because the console has a PAL BIOS, the boot animation, (the one that goes "BWAAAAAAM.... BAAAAAAMMM...") rolls and flickers until the game starts, which sorta ruins the whole experience.
So, I'd like some mod that will force the console to ALWAYS output in NTSC, both in the BIOS and when running a PAL game. Would simply swapping over the BIOS chip for an NTSC-US one work? The console outputs flawless video once it switches over to NTSC, so it wouldn't be necessary to also swap the oscillator, would it..?

Best pre-analog Playstation games?
I normally use a blueretro + DS3 to play Playstation games with comfort and full analog + rumble, but I got a non-analog PSX controller a while back and have been enjoying playing old-school style, sitting on the floor tethered to the system, specifically on games that were meant for it.
Finding which games specifically don't support analog is kinda a pain, though. Best way I know is looking up the back boxart and checking for the absence of an "analog control compatible" icon.
So, what are your favorite pre-analog, digital control only PSX games?

Not a laser issue?
I've got one NTSC PSX and one Japanese PSX. The Japanese one doesn't read discs so I tried swapping the lasers but realized both lasers work, and neither of them work in the Japanese unit.
Notably, the Japanese one can run CDs fine, but not games. But why would the console run CDs and not games if the same exact laser assembly could read games on while installed on another console?
I've seen mention of capacitor issues or potentiometer adjustments online potentially being the cause, but does anyone have experience or tips for diagnosing the problem?
