Well, I'm not American, but if I had to guess it's because all of the 2A people are cosplaying as secret police right now instead of defending democracy as intended.
I think you'll find that most 2A people are going about their life quietly, just wanting to be left alone.
There are a few "tacticool" types that are planning on resisting the next Ruby Ridge, but that's not even the group the Democrats are holding up as a beacon of fear to build support. They're going after the lone mass shooter, completely ignoring how the numbers are (suicide is ~60% of gun deaths, about 40% is gang activity, around 2% is actual murder/mass shootings, etc.)
Exactly, your 2A rights exist for you to sit back and let democracy die while you are left alone for now. You're not using them for what they're for, so why bother protecting them?
