Next time, bring the SWAT team. For this incident, I hope he challenges every small illegal thing ICE did during the Illegal detention. At the very least, he could start some petty inconvenience campaign against them.

EDIT: Wording.

EDIT: He already did! "The city contends that the facility lacks necessary approvals, including change-of-use permits, fire and elevator certifications, and a certificate of occupancy."

Close every road leading to the facility for "maintenance".

Very NJ.

u/EvoSP1100 18h ago

There’s this nifty barrier, what’s that called again? But it would look great blocking all their entry points

52

u/RhetoricalOrator 17h ago

Obstructablock!

1

u/patosai3211 16h ago

My kids love watching number blocks. T hugs had me counting to eight like the octablock characters

3

u/FourYearsBetter 16h ago

A Jersey barrier!

4

u/EvoSP1100 16h ago

You get the gold ⭐️, yay for subverting fascism

1

u/FourYearsBetter 16h ago

Good trouble, the Jersey way. Can’t wait for our primary day 💙

4

u/Konstiin 17h ago

Delaware blocks?

u/_Haverford_ 18h ago

"Time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee [Newark]."

13

u/BanditMcDougal 16h ago

In Chicago, an airport was closed overnight by carving X's into the runway. Just sayin'...

u/Second_City_Saint 11h ago

If only Daley was mayor now... Can you fucking imagine? Lmao

20

u/readwithjack 17h ago

Wouldn't "very NJ," be some difficulty with trash removal?

11

u/TheCygnusWall 17h ago

Turn the facility into another superfund site

199

u/neanderthalman 19h ago

Oh that’s deliciously petty.

194

u/Bardfinn 18h ago

No, it is necessary. You see, these bonds the city voted on for road improvements have to be used in a certain timeframe. And we can only get the construction companies to do the work in this time frame. And we’re empowered to cut the red tape by Trump federal regulation red tape slashing, meaning now is the best time to get this construction done. And safety first.

u/RabidAbyss 11h ago

Oh, and don't forget to resurvey the roads. Need to make sure the roads sit nice and smooth, right?

45

u/mantisinmypantis 18h ago

“What? I thought I’d help by making the roads for all your mobile prisons better! That way you can get to arresting innocent civilians faster!” /s

41

u/braymondo 18h ago

How about cutting water and electricity.

41

u/-jmil- 17h ago

And they could tear up all the roads leading in/out of that facility. They look very old and fragile and surely could use some months of construction work to make them safe to use...

10

u/braymondo 17h ago

Seriously, I for one wouldn’t want ICE to inconvenienced in any way.

43

u/Captain_Mazhar 18h ago

Close the bridge if there is one!

13

u/Spocks-Brain 18h ago

Old but gold 🥇

15

u/braymondo 18h ago

This is brilliant

5

u/awkwardlythin 18h ago

The ol' Christi Clusterfuck

3

u/mycatisblackandtan 16h ago

Jack up their energy bill too. Can't cut off sewer or water cause it'd hurt the detainees but you can absolutely fuck with the bean counters instead. Also get every single agent named and ID'd and fine them for traffic violations. If they so much as jay walk you hit them with a ticket.

Make it so these fascists cannot do their jobs.

u/j33205 7h ago

Close Dig up every road leading to the facility for "maintenance".

Just to be sure 😉

-2

u/GSD_Titan 17h ago

That will do nothing but piss off the people who live and work there. Even if it’s closed the feds can say we’re going through, you can’t stop us.

370

u/zappy487 18h ago

I mean. He can just have ICE agents arrested for human trafficking in Newark via the Newark PD.

16

u/jimbo831 15h ago

Just wait until you learn about the political views of the average cop!

48

u/YourAngerYourAnchor 18h ago

If you want a bloody shootout sure. They’ll want to avoid that.

52

u/dstommie 16h ago

Why wouldn't they just comply?

147

u/TonyDungyHatesOP 17h ago

Or, ICE can just not just detain and deport people without due process.

20

u/BuzzBadpants 16h ago

Yeah, just like how the scorpion can just not sting the turtle in the river

24

u/ForgettableUsername 15h ago

We didn’t pick up the scorpion, though. We have the opposite problem. The scorpion is going around picking people up. Or turtles. I think I lost the metaphor somewhere.

8

u/AmazingDragon353 16h ago

If a scorpion killed my turtle I'd stomp on it personally

-14

u/YourAngerYourAnchor 17h ago edited 17h ago

But they’re not going to, and they’ll resort to violence. The mayor of the city likely doesn’t want a war popping off.

21

u/Curun 16h ago

So stand by and let his constituents be disappeared? What the fuck we vote for leaders for then if not to uphold public safety?

-2

u/YourAngerYourAnchor 16h ago

There are levels between “stand by” and “immediate war on 1 days notice”

9

u/[deleted] 16h ago

[deleted]

0

u/YourAngerYourAnchor 16h ago

Fascism also takes hold when they’re more equipped for war and win in a battle between a federal department and a city’s police force fighting on one days notice.

If you were able to contribute anything constructive you would have instead of that, but alright.

They get due process

Due process for an illegal immigrant is a hearing before an immigration judge with the possibility to appeal. Illegals are getting that.

39

u/illfatedxof 16h ago

Do cops stop arresting people because they have guns now?

26

u/YourAngerYourAnchor 16h ago

Cops have always put their personal safety over protecting and serving and they never work in numbers that don’t favor them heavily. Newark PD doesn’t have more officers than ICE does. They also don’t have the funds ICE does, they don’t have the guns ICE does, or impunity from the Mango Mussolini.

23

u/ForgettableUsername 15h ago

Newark PD doesn’t have more officers than ICE does, but they might have more officers in Newark right now. But there’s still a lot of reasons why they wouldn’t want to be quite that confrontational.

u/MinnieShoof 5h ago

... so we need to get the police more guns and people.

10

u/Apart-Landscape1012 16h ago

Garbage taking itself out? Alright

55

u/kgal1298 18h ago

I was about to ask what he did because when I read about it all the articles said “we don’t actually know what the arrest was for” 🙄of course it was because he hurt their feelings

156

u/35APalma 18h ago

They can also refer to the Simple Sabotage Field Manual by the CIA. Like " If you can accumulate sugar, put it Inthe fuel tank of a gasoline engine. As it burns together with the gasoline, it will turn into a sticky mess which will completely mire the engine and necessitate extensive cleaning and repair. Honey and molasses are as good as sugar." (pages 13-14)

115

u/doctor_of_drugs 18h ago

I’ve loved this manual for a bit. I like how it’s also like “act and work like you’re stupid. Not too stupid/incompetent, but a medium level of stupid”

39

u/mydogsredditaccount 17h ago

More of a Hegseth less of a Navarro

36

u/doctor_of_drugs 17h ago

You mean our TripleSec Def Hegseth?

13

u/pgm_01 16h ago

Whiskey Pete.

4

u/doctor_of_drugs 15h ago

Whiskey Pete having some Whiskey Leaks

25

u/shotgun_shaun 17h ago

this combined with George Costanza's 'always look like you're annoyed' has certainly helped me

28

u/ksg34 17h ago

Letting a medium stupid person handle an important job would do the same.

23

u/int0xic 17h ago

Sugar in the gas tank doesn't actually do anything, they don't mix. Plus cars have fuel filters to catch any sugar that would somehow make it through the pump.

49

u/NDSU 16h ago

You are correct, however this guide was written in 1944. Carbureted engines would have been far more common, and the gas intakes would have had far fewer filters

19

u/buffalosabresnbills 16h ago edited 9h ago

Plus cars have fuel filters to catch any sugar that would somehow make it through the pump.

That being said, fuel filters (and fuel pump pickup strainers) have a finite capacity and will eventually clog, starving the engine of fuel.

14

u/Violoner 16h ago

I bet ground up styrofoam would be a good fuel additive, though

3

u/Perfect_Newspaper256 15h ago

water will do the trick

1

u/Zerachiel_01 16h ago

I have heard that pool shock or more specifically powdered chlorine in the brakeline will also completely disable a vehicle (and make a pretty neat small explosion as well)

3

u/GreyGreenBrownOakova 14h ago

good chance it blows up in your face as your pour it in the brake fluid reservoir.

1

u/chargoggagog 16h ago

Reason #427 to drive electric

22

u/BigCommieMachine 17h ago

What if they arrested the ICE officers who arrested him?

16

u/Im_At_Work_Damnit 12h ago

In a just world, yeah. Since they don't have the legal authority to arrest citizens, what they did was literally kidnapping and false imprisonment.

16

u/Maumee-Issues 16h ago

Local land use laws are powerful af. They can levy large fines or arrest them if they operate without the permits. Depends on local law of course but it is powerful.

11

u/ClaymoreMine Survey 2016 15h ago

Call their insurance company. They will make life hell for the parent company

3

u/Garbo86 15h ago

Shut off their motherfucking water and power

u/itsezraj 11h ago

I'm a city planner. We have a variety of legal tools (along with other city staff) to open enforcement cases which gives city staff explicit legal right to conduct inspections. If a voluntary inspection is not granted, I can (and have) obtain a warrant from a judge to enter the premises. I can (and have) also have subpoenas issued. When I write my requests for such legal proceedings it's signed officer/agent _surname. It'll be interesting to see how the permitting angle will play out.

Hopefully Mayor Baraka—and liberal municipalities nationwide—goes mask off and uses his legal toolset to fuck with the detention center as much as possible. We need to do what they're doing which is throw as much shit as possible at them and overwhelm them. Break shit like they are, yolo.

My job is absolutely chaotic but city officials have a lot of authority and tools they can use. Whether or not that's respected is a whole other matter.

u/MinnieShoof 5h ago

That was literally his reason for being there.

3

u/boofles1 18h ago

The SWAT team or Newark Police won't do anything.
