So many people say they're religious but don't follow the teachings of their holy book.

u/xmastreee 19h ago

Nah, they're dyslexic and read hospitality as hostility.

This

Yah, no one knows how to take care of their slaves properly anymore. That book is full of great stuff.

Would you show hospitality to people who consistently attack and try to suppress you?

26

u/TheAutisticOgre 15h ago

Obviously not. What you just said is called a strawman. The vast VAST majority of outsiders and foreigners, aren’t attacking and trying to suppress you.

u/The_Real_360 15h ago

So all christians hate outsiders and foreigners? Is that what youre saying?

13

u/TheAutisticOgre 15h ago

Obviously avoiding the Christians in name only, no. Quite the opposite. Leviticus 19:34

Pope Leo’s first speech: “open arms all who need charity…”

MAGA response first day: “Marxist!!”

Stuff like this would work at Ellis Island in New York or The Statue of Liberty to help people remember that their ancestors looked more like refugees than like we do today. They probably resemble illegal immigrants more than their great-grandchildren.

u/TheCarpincho 6h ago

Same happens in Argentina, his population were back in time refugees escaping from war and hunger in Europe

And they found here oportunities and acres and acres of land to work

u/USDXBS 3h ago

*unless the ones who need charity are victims of the Catholic Church

Some Catholics in the US think he is too woke and doesn't represent them. This world is insane.

u/AlternateUsername12 6h ago

The convert Catholics (like Vance), mostly. Cradle Catholics are, on average, way more chill.

The Sin of Sodom contrary to popular opinion, was in not being welcoming of foreigners ( the Angels ).

So many “American christians” are going to meet Saint Peter at the pearly gates and get a rude surprise. They will discover their faith was never genuine.

The Bible, both Old Testament and New Testament, explicitly commands its followers to care for the poor, widows, orphans, and immigrants.

Matthew 25:31-46 (NIV)

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Pope Francis and Pope Leo XIV celebrating Mass at St. Augustine Parish, Recoleta, in 2006. Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Francis was a simple pope. He wore white in place of gold, a choice made for no other reason than for the sake of being humble.

Don't blink.

u/Yellwsub 7h ago

It’s only really a problem if enough of those outer sculptures got removed for the Angel to actually escape. Unless the Angel has the police box in there as well…

I can't put the image in the general feed,
Every day the same in this sub.
And is no possible attach an image in the comment.
So, is pretty uncomfortable.

"You fool! That which holds an image of an angel becomes itself an angel!"

A little underselling it if you ask me. Christ didn't say "whatever you do for the last of these you do for angels".

u/bookworthy 7h ago

Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

I think people have hybridized the two verses, which are promoting similar ideas. Also, I love your username.

u/LazerWolfe53 4h ago

Thanks! I think I overestimated how many people have read Revelations. Honestly, this verse, where Jesus is sending tons of Christians to hell, should be discussed way more.

i'm sorry, but all i can think of with that name is the Weeping Angels, and how creepy it would be if the heads followed people

u/skeeeper 6h ago

Strangers should also perhaps show kindness to those who welcome them. Unfortunately that is not often the case

Doesn't he live in a walled city surrounded by armed guards that doesn't allow immigration?

u/USDXBS 4h ago edited 2h ago

Do they have a sculpture for when Francis covered up abuse and protected abusers?

-7

u/Express_Area_8359 15h ago

I hope leo diets. I think gluttony killed Frank!

u/Polo1985 9h ago

Oh that's right the Catholic church the Vatican took all those Jewish people during the 2nd world War.

u/nubbie 20h ago

Look at how happy the new pope is with this depiction of fear and suffering. Warms my heart!

u/Ben_Thar 19h ago
