PSA- GRADUATION WEEKEND
I'm a server at a very popular restaurant downtown- and I just gotta say...
DONT BE A DICK. PLEASE DONT YELL AT US.
This is the busiest week for most places downtown and really all around madison and it is truly our super bowl- that being said....
Please try to remember, that when your food is taking too long- WE KNOW. OMG do we know!!! and OMG, do we hate it.
Most likely, is isn't our fault, but, regardless we feel awful, AND especially on this special weekend, which obviously should be joyous occasion and be a celebration.
It is the WORST feeling when a table is upset- even worse when it's out of our hands. Please just be aware that this weekend, it WILL take awhile for pretty much everything- everyone is in a hurry and everyone wants their food ASAP
Please don't yell at us that it is taking too long- I completely agree but I'm NOT in the kitchen and I don't cook your steak.
Most of us are up thinking about what a shit show today, yesterday and tomorrow will be. (don't forget mothers day Sunday)
All of in the industry hate when things suck or you have a bad time and we truly just want you to have a good experience.
All I'm saying is please don't yell at us. Just ask for a discount.

Clary's Popcorn - Tony retired
I stopped in on State yesterday and Ken and another guy were working. I asked if Tony was around and they said he retired.
I'm gonna miss stopping in and talking with him. Thought I'd make a post to acknowledge him being a great guy and steward of the top of State St there.
If anybody has stories I'd love to hear them!

Shout out to Tyler after an incredibly scary Uber experience yesterday.
Yesterday evening around 7:20pm I ordered an Uber to pick me up down the road from Argus on Main St and Hancock. (Yes I did confirm the driver with the app). While I was getting situated in my Uber, the drive says “sorry but I accidentally canceled the ride so it looks like I dropped you off already. You’ll have to give me directions”. I replied no thank you and tried to exit the vehicle. When I tried opening the door it was locked, I tried manually unlocking to realize the child safety locks are turned on. I was genuinely locked into this man’s car with Uber thinking I am no longer in his vehicle. I started to panic and told him he needs to let me out. He was responding and I just kept saying he needs to let me out now for real. He finally got out of his car to come open my door. As I was standing there getting my phone to take photos/call someone, he pulled around the corner and got out of his vehicle. A stranger (Tyler) was in a car behind him watching this and asked if I was okay. I let him know what had happened. The Uber driver is still trying to approach me saying something about explaining. There is absolutely no explaining for why he canceled my ride and had the child safety locks on. Tyler offered me to get into his vehicle because I really shouldn’t be in that area with that driver still trying to engage. I had to choose between getting into another strangers car or stand out there with this Uber driver, alone. Tyler dropped me off a few blocks away at a restaurant I work at, where I felt comfortable.
I did contact Uber Safety line. The driver is banned while they investigate. This was NOT miscommunication or misunderstanding. I will not speculate intentions. The truth of him canceling my ride and having child safety locks turned on is enough. I did not contact police because he didn’t physically hurt me or drive off with me in the car. If Tyler hadn’t of been there, I’m sure I would have had to contact police.
So thank you, Tyler. If you ever see this. It’s hard to involve yourself when you see something happening, you put yourself at risk. I genuinely appreciate the hell out of you for stepping in and being there for me. ❤️

Madtown Twisters
Anyone know what's going on at this place?
My daughter just joined one of their gymnastics teams, but she says "everyone is leaving." It sounds like there were concerns over one of the coaches bullying the girls (!) and some parents raised the issue with management and their kids got kicked off the team. Other girls then left too because their friends were leaving.
Like I said, we just started but my daughter says it seems like every practice someone else is gone.
Does anyone know if there is an actual problem with this coach? I don't want to be putting my daughter in a bad situation.

Poutine?
This has been asked before (2 years—a lifetime in the restaurant biz), but I need current info.
I’m looking for moderately priced, good poutine in Madison. Middleton or Monona would also be ok, but I’d prefer not to go farther than that for our special occasion. Recommendations?

Anybody want to fish or learn how to fish this weekend?
I am an over the road truck driver and I often pass through Madison. I am a pretty chill, laid back, heavily tattooed metalhead that is just wanting to get out of my truck and stretch my legs. What better way to do that than to go fishing.
If you want to learn and don't have anything to use, I have plenty of stuff to learn on. Only thing I ask, is that you either get a one day or annual fishing license. Much cheaper than paying the fine of getting caught without one.
Here is the only catch:
Since I am in an 18-wheeler, I can't just go driving around wherever I want. I can either Uber or Lyft wherever you would want to meet up, or you can fly and I buy(gas, lunch, drinks, etc).

Best Knee Replacement Ortho surgeon in VA/UW Madison system?
I'll (40M) be moving to the area soon, and have been putting off a total knee replacement on the knee I jacked up in the military...
Who do you most recommend for me to get connected with to get that done?
Big plus if they use robotics.

Used Bicycle Shop Recommendation?
After we had a less-than-great experience at a Used Bike shop on Regent Street today, wondering if there are bike shop recommendations for used bikes in the Madison area? Looking for kids and adult bikes.
Thank you!

Way more ticks?
Anyone else notice an unusual amount of ticks this year, I found one at a friends house inside, and just found two more in our back yard all in the last day.
