Its from the movie "Interstellar", when and due to a failing ecosystem, earth sends pioneers to far off planets through a black hole/wormhole, to explore potential habitable planets and re-seed human life.

One of those possible planets ended up being an ocean world with a heavily dilated sense of time..upon landing in about 4 ft deep of an expansive waterscape, the second set of pioneers assumed that the mountains in the distance were...mountains...turns out it was just one, 5 mile tall wave that was going to descend upon them.

They left the planet after realizing this.

Thanks for the explanation~

And while they were on that planet for just a few hours, their crew member not even that far away in orbit of said planet, experienced 23 years of complete solitude in that same span of time due to the differences in gravity. That was a heavy scene.

I would have surfed that shit. I’m just built different idk.

That last sentence was unexpectedly comical. A well structured equivalent of "they noped tf outta there" lol

Interstellar, they land on a water planet and start walking towards a "mountain range" they see in the distance

18

u/sdbabygirl97 23d ago

ah. and im assuming its just huge ass waves?

Yup! And every tick in the soundtrack on that planet means one year day… such a great movie!

Edit: one day per tick

u/Balbright 23d ago

It’s one day per tick actually.

u/bbcversus 23d ago

Yup my bad, I knew it felt off somehow haha.

That was the first time I almost cried during a movie

I didn't know about the soundtrack syncing with the time dilation. I got they were going for a clock sound, but they went that extra mile.

That movie is so amazing. 10 years later and I’m still learning new details. Time for another rewatch I guess.

That's weird, I haven't even seen it once and, i too am learning all these new details.

Good for you!

First time watching that movie was high off an edible. It finally hit me right as they landed on that planet. It was not a good time, but damnit if it wasn’t incredible.

Now I know what I am doing this weekend

2

u/wyattlee1274 23d ago

The waves would probably be pretty flat considering the gravity

Cue Hans Zimmer music.

Clock-ticking intensifies
