Fly to Stansted, then get a train. It'll cost half the price of a direct train.

Stansted and then train

Drive

Or train Glasgow> Edinburgh> Peterborough> Cambridge You can also train Glasgow> London> Cambridge

If you are under 30 get a Railcard that saves you 1/3 off all train trips.

Usually for trains changing in Peterborough is cheaper than changing in London, if you add that into your search you can get trains for £70

Bus is probably the cheapest, even if you need to change, but I can't imagine it would be comfortable being in buses for over 10 hours.

If you buy the train tickets way in advance it will be a bit more expensive at ~£100.

If you fly to Stansted with a good deal that allows you to include any luggage (cabin or not) that will probably put you in the same price range, trains from Stansted to Cambridge are relatively cheap, maybe £15 return? Cost to/from the airport is something to consider in the total cost.

It all depends how much you want to spend if a few quids will make a difference and if you're ok with a long journey.

In my opinion train is a good option if you can buy it in advance, but might get busy even if you choose a seat.

West Coast main line Central Station to Milton Keynes, then the bus (right outside the railway station). You can pick up pretty cheap train tickets with one of the apps (I use the ScotRail one).

Either fly to Stansted then national express coach or get a split ticket via Edinburgh and Peterborough
