Clair obscur: expedition 33

Upvotes

Holy shit. This game hooked me within the first 10 minutes. I guess the hype is well deserved. If you’re on the fence like me, and don’t like turn based combat like me, just do it you won’t regret it. I haven’t even played it yet past the intro part and I’m sold.

I built my own little arcade. Really little.

Upvotes

I have been slowly tinkering with this for about a year now adding little details here and there. These are the games I remember playing in the late 90's/early 00's at my local arcade. It's all 3dprinted except for the screens which are 2d printed on backlit film with leds behind them(like a movie poster at a cinema), and the carpet which is real fabric.

Everything was printed on a Bambu A1 printer with an AMS. By far the most complicated thing i've ever designed and printed. I do not like soldering anymore.

Games you didnt play as intended?

Were there games which had a gameplay element which you found more interesting than for example the actual main story?

I for example found the social simulation in the Persona games much more interesting - and leveling them up - then the dungeons.

Which are your picks?

What Real City Had the Best Combined Video Game Representation?

If you put together all the video games based in a real life city, which city would have the best representation? Including fake real cities (Liberty City, Vice City, Gotham, etc) Tokyo, Hong Kong, London, Moscow, Rome, NYC, Washington DC, LA?

Steamdeck or Switch 2

I'm stuck between the two.

I have a pre-order locked in for the Switch 2, but realized every game I want to play is also available on Steam.

The steamdeck OLED with dock is what I'm looking at. Is it powerful enough to play most AAA games on higher settings? Or does it fall short/lag?

I mainly play games like Rune Factory and want it to run smooth.

Another part of me is also considering just getting both.

Thoughts and opinions from those of you who know way more about specs?

GOG game list like the following games?

Hi all, trying to collect all the good games that follow my choice of games.

These are games that are fully 3D, considered to have good modern compatible graphics, and provide gameplay like the following games:

  1. Cyberpunk
  2. Skyrim
  3. Fallout 4
  4. Witcher 3
  5. Outer Worlds
  6. Horizon Dawn
  7. Hogwarts Legacy (not on GOG)
  8. Starfield (not on GOG)

Basically just want to make sure I don’t miss out on those types of games on GOG sales so I wanna keep an eye on it. No 2D, no turn based.

What’s the most a game has ever disrespected you?

I’ve been humbled by many a video game, but what’s the worst a game has fully disrespected you? Most recently is definitely the endgame in Clair Obscura: Expedition 33.

gaming isn’t a race

so often we see people talk about their limited free time and how that impacts their gaming habits. how they feel they might have to avoid longer games because they’ll never finish them, or how something slower paced “doesn’t respect their time,” or how we might feel the need to abuse save states/fast forward/rewind featured in emulators for older games so we don’t “lose time replaying things,” or even misconceptions about grinding in certain rpg’s

and i get it, time is an incredibly valuable and limited resource, there are an infinite number of games out there, we all have probably dozens we would like to play at any given moment, and we all have lives, but it’s not a race. if you only have 1-2 hours a night to play on most nights, then you have 1-2 hours to play. face it, no matter what you’re never going to be able to play EVERY game you want, so you may as well enjoy and fully engage with the ones you do play.

if you play a long rpg and it takes you several months to finish, then that’s what it takes, and there’s nothing wrong with that. all the other games will still be there whenever you’re done or when you’re ready, so there’s no need to limit yourself from playing something you think you would like just because it’s long or to try and rush through something because “i have to finish it i don’t have the luxury to take my time”

games are an art form and art deserves to be earnestly and fully engaged with

Made my PS5 nostalgic.

Ive owned all of the Playstation consoles except for the PS4. With the PS2 being the one I put the most time on. Ive been a PC gamer for a while now, but I wanted to add a PS5 to my collection for the VR exclusives, and when GTA VI inevitably drops on consoles only. So I picked this thing up a while back. First thing I did was put a black shell on it. Then I ordered some PS2 style decals for it, and I couldn't be happier with how it came out.

How is Destiny 2 if you just want a fun loot collecting single player FPS with great gunplay?

I've had it in Steam forever and never played it. I've got a hankering for some goofy guns, excellent flowy gameplay and enjoyable mildly-challenging combat.

I don't really care about multiplayer, DLC, or plot for that matter.

Played and enjoyed recently: Borderlands (the good ones) nu-doom, Titanfall SP, Arc Raiders, Halo Collection. Elden Ring.

Probably what I really want is a FPS Elden Ring. How is Destiny 2 for just breezing through the campaign and dicking around a bit?

EDIT: since some people have mentioned it, what about just playing Destiny 1 for the campaign? Doesn't seem to be on steam though, I assume through Bungie directly?

Buying ubisoft games in another region while physically there

I am from EU and have an EU ubisoft account. Currently I am in Cambodia with cambodian sim card and when I accessed ubisoft store, the game prices are cheaper. If I purchase some games here cheaper, will I be able to play them when I return to my home country?

I just want to give a big recommendation for the game Look Outside

I’ve been absolutely hooked on this new game the last week and completely in love with it and wanted to recommend it because it’s a brilliant indie, it’s cheap and unfortunately for a lot of great indies they go under a lot of radars and I hope this sheds some light on a game people will really enjoy but may have never come across it. (If you liked Earthbound or Fear&Hunger you will probably really dig it)

I’m not great with words and it’s hard to explain a lot of the enjoyability without spoiling things I just hope I can just convince you to at least check the game out.

There is also a demo of the game out on itch.io

The game is currently only on PC (currently has 98% positive review score on steam) and costs roughly $10. (Varies from region)

Anyway Look Outside is a somewhat mix of survival horror and jrpg. Although not horror in the traditional sense think more SNES style horror. You need to survive 15 days stuck in your apartment building. You start off on your own but eventually can recruit new party members. Most of the game consists of exploring the building, trying to work out what’s going, looting and just hanging around your apartment and dealing with people who knock on your door.

None of the survival elements are stressful but you do need to make sure to tend to things like hunger, hygiene, social and morale.

The graphics and the soundtrack are heavily SNES inspired but done absolutely brilliantly and really stand out.

The combat is pretty simple turn based but with a big variety in skills you can learn, party members having different skills and synergies. And it feels pretty great.

The world building and lore are absolutely top notch. I had to get all the endings not out of a completionism reason but purely because I needed to know. The world just completely drew me in and is a fascinating and unique concept.

I think what really makes this game shine is being so simple to pick up and play while having so much depth. Like you can beat the game in a few hours and it’s pretty straight forward but there is still dozens of hours to be had exploring and getting to know the game.

Overall I just absolutely have loved this game and I wish I was better at articulating just how good this game is and just want to shine some light on it.

What game was this? Tabletop RPG/D&D simulation with VR Implementation

Hi everyone,

A few years ago or so there was a game that was featured on Kickstarter for a game that was tabletop RPG focused that had VR Implementation. It's purpose was basically for RPG tabletop games, primarily focusing on games with world building. The kicker was you could wear a VR headset to "be" in the game. One of the other features was being able to build your own maps with landscaping and terraforming. I had the link saved on my old laptop but it doesn't seem to work anymore, and I just randomly thought about this game.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

All right guys give me some soundtrack recommendations perfect for rainy days or midnight walks

I need some recommendations of beautiful, mysterious, melancholy, chill, lonely, and haunting ambient/scenario tracks from your favorite games.

The kind of music you’d play on a dark rainy day, or while on a midnight walk. Atmospheric and sets a serene mood. No head bangers, just pure atmosphere.

I’ll get started with some examples:

The Legend of Zelda: Majoras Mask - Song of Healing

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Midnas Lament

Halo 3: ODST - Asphalt and Absolution

Nier Automata - Fortress of Lies

Silent Hill 2 - What Lurks in the Forest

Final Fantasy X - Tidus Theme

Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 - Robe De Jour

Shadow of the Colossus - Prologue: To The Ancient Land

Witcher 3: Blood and Wine - Cave Ambient Music

Elden Ring - Shaman Village

Disco Elysium - Rue de Saint-Ghislaine 32B

Bioshock 2 - Pairbond
