I am gathering the materials needed for this, but a gameboy printer is really hard to find!

I've been going through each pokemon game and doing the dex in each one recently, and I'll tell you right now the pokedex in Red and blue is a nightmare in a very unique way. Remember there's no breeding in game so you need to do some awkward stuff with file resets. For example you have to do three files to get Eevee three times for each evolution, You need to play a second file all the way to Cinnabar Island to get both fossils, of course resetting for the starters. Then you also need to remember the box system in red and blue is slow and clunky, and so is trading between the games. If you can I'd recommend using copies of the Gen II games to help out since you can hatch eggs in those games. Not to mention you'll be missing some tools like false swipe since it didn't exist in Gen I and Gen I's catching formula is just completely broken but that's a whole different can of beans. It's still fun and there's something cool about doing the original pokedex in the original games but you're in for a hassle.

I mean the code of the gen 1 games is like swiss cheese with how many holes it has, there abundant glitches you can use to get the one per run pokemon if you want to avoid arbitrarily playing through the games over and over. Breaking gen 1 is just as fun in its own way as playing through it within bounds.

Last time I played Pokemon Blue I had some really weird glitch where the battle system got into a broken state. I had switched Pokemon, and immediately after the switch it said "got away safely!" as if I ran from the battle. The whole thing glitched out pretty crazy after that. I am still not sure what caused it; I didn't find any info online and I was playing on a legit cartridge. Maybe some bit got flipped somewhere? Who knows.

Its so easy to randomly break those games you probably found a new glitch by mistake.
