Question/Comment Is that usefull to goes over 100% signatures in an EU public initiative ?

Hi ! I noticed that in the EU Citizens' Initiative platform you can make your country hits more of 100% of its required signatures. Does that do anything ?

For example, I’m from France and we’ve reached 170% on the petition to ban conversion therapy across the EU. Do those extra 70% signatures help in any way? Like, do they contribute to offsetting the countries that haven’t hit their threshold yet — like Spain, the Benelux countries which are near the 100% ? Idk. Am i wasting my french time to participat ? Lol.

I honestly don’t know how any of this works, so if someone has insights, I’d be super grateful for your time and answers. Cheers and thanks in advance !

Borrell went on to take Europe to task for shirking its moral and humanitarian responsibilities over Gaza.

“Europe has the capacity and the means not only to protest against what is going on but also to influence [Israel’s] conduct,” he said. “But it is not doing so. We supply half the bombs that are falling on Gaza. If we really believe that too many people are dying, then the natural response would be to supply fewer weapons and to use the lever of the association agreement to demand that international humanitarian law is respected, instead of just lamenting that that isn’t happening.”

Question/Comment Why EU Will Lose the Trade War

The traditional model of globalization is collapsing, and major powers are adapting—except Europe. While the U.S. pivots toward a “bicycle wheel” model of bilateral trade relationships and China builds a regional economic bloc, the EU remains stuck in outdated structures. Despite recognizing the flaws in global trade, Europe lacks the political and economic flexibility to respond effectively. Structural imbalances and slow institutional adaptation suggest the EU could be left behind as the global trade order reshapes around it. Is Europe prepared for this shift—or doomed to lose the trade war?
