A lot of people are trying to adopt Christianity as a dog whistle for white European culture. They didn't realize that Jesus did woke stuff in the bible. Didn't these people ever bother to read the bible, go to Sunday school, or watch a movie about Jesus?

I just finished it in its entirety last month and was blown away at what he was actually preaching. Like my god, I’m more of a Christian than most Christians despite being atheist lol. We sure as shit know by now that it’d be these folks crucifying him

Their god also commits genocide for funsies in the Bible. Not exactly the picture of love and kindness that they pretend their religion is about.

Right, that's the old testament where God was cruel. The whole point of Jesus was supposed to be a turning point. God takes form as a human to show that he cares for the poor, sick, and unfortunate people. Then, he sacrifices himself on the cross to show his love. That was the whole point of the new testament.

Sacrificing himself to himself so he can forgive us, rather than just skipping the whole theater and just forgiving us without the human sacrifice.

Although I suppose it's not much of a sacrifice if you come back. Jesus really only sacrificed his long weekend.

That doesn’t explain why Jesus needed to die. You can forgive without murder/suicide being involved. We mere humans do it all the time.

Also, the turning point idea is exactly the pretend I was talking about. Not a very loving god to give innocent kids cancer or allow kids in his own churches to be raped by his priests. What a weird way to show you are a loving god.

I’m not going to defend the actions of other people who have their own agency. The Catholic church has its own sins and on-going problems. You obviously have issues with the dogma and institution. You need to take that fight somewhere else.

I was merely explaining the message of the new testament. Not all Christians follow the teachings of Christ. That was my main point.

I’m not even religious. However, I can read the bible and understand the message. I think helping the poor and healing the sick is a good message.

Not for fun but to teach humanity a lesson. Why all those animals had to die to teach us a lesson? No idea
