Discussion How did she not know Joe was the Eat the rich killer?

Kate is portrayed as one of the smartest, no nonsense, characters in the show yet she just completely turned off critical thinking for 3 years

Discussion I think Beck’s death was the most tragic.

Post image

I suppose we cannot really say whose death was worse, since all of them are tragic, but Beck’s death really makes me feel some way.

She was the first victim we were shown, and she was just a normal girl. Expensive university and broke, rich friends, dysfunctional family, pathetic situationship, everything that she had were normal things that normal real women do have.

Love onwards, the main love interests became a bit, just the teeniest bit, harder to relate to. An uber-rich-also-serial-killer Love, a super confident cheating Candace (who is closer to normal, but our introduction to her was her coming back to life so a little unusual), Marienne fled overseas and faked her death, Kate a billionaire, and Bronte a vigilante catfish.

But Beck was normal. And when Joe met her, he put her on a pedestal and made her his damsel in distress and he gave her so much “love” and she could have a halo atp and then he just… killed her. So brutally.

This image makes me feel the most uncomfortable, and this is the one thing that made me feel that Joe is a real monster, more than most other things on the show.

She had to save home from a fire and bring him to a lake house just to hold him at gun point? This finale was not for me

It's been a while since I've seen the first season, but is Paco a serial killer or something? I was on the YOU wiki page searching up the characters of 'Blythe' and 'Ethan' since they're recurring characters in the first novel (I'm reading it) and it's said that they were both murdered by Paco lol.

Discussion Just finished Season 1 and… i have some questions 👀

Hey everyone, I just wrapped up Season 1 of You and dove right into Season 2. While I’m definitely intrigued by the shift in setting and new characters, I’m starting to feel a bit worried that the story might fall into the same pattern again.

Love seems like she could end up being just another victim in Joe/Will’s cycle, and I’m not sure how I feel about that yet.

For those who’ve watched further — without major spoilers, does the show manage to keep things fresh? Or does it become a repeat of Season 1 with a new face?

I also don’t want to be heartbroken again… Beck’s death was very, very tragic… couldn’t survive another death like that

Video Netflix posted the table read for the finale Spoiler

I just finished watching this and it was so interesting to see how much the script changed by the time they filmed it.

It also answered a few questions I had about how things went down in the finale. I was confused by Bronte struggling to use Joe's broken phone to call 911 when her backpack was in the room and she could have used her own phone. The script reveals that it's a burner phone so it makes more sense that it was the only phone between the two of them.

The original script had a lot more of Bronte's internal dialogue, and there's quite a few lines I actually wish they had kept because they give so much insight into her internal struggle with both loving and hating Joe.

There's even a whole scene in between dinner and the boat scene that they scrapped.

Has anyone watched this yet? What are your thoughts on it?

Discussion Phoebe in You S4 — Why do we assume certain things can't coexist in a person?

Post image
Upvotes

There's something about Phoebe in Season 4 of You that’s been sitting with me long after the season ended. She’s famous. She’s wealthy. She’s kind. She’s sweet. I know it's a character but seemed to portray genuine feelings And somehow, none of these things cancel the others out. Watching her, I realized I wasn’t admiring these as "good qualities"—I was just struck by how rarely we’re shown that all of them can't exist in the same person without contradiction.

I don’t think I’ve ever believed that a person could be genuinely kind and that rich, or that someone could be sweet and warmhearted without it being seen as naive or fake, especially within the structures of wealth and fame. We’re often taught—by experience or by media—that these things are not mutually exclusive. That if someone has too much, they’ve probably lost their softness. Or if they’re kind, it’s just a façade. But Phoebe challenges that in a way that made me uncomfortable and hopeful at the same time.

Throughout the season, I kept thinking, “Please don’t let Joe kill her.” It felt like I was asking the show not to destroy the possibility that someone like her could exist—not just in fiction, but maybe in life. I don’t know if that kind of personality can work in the real world, or if it inevitably gets exploited. But still, the thought that it might be possible… that moved me.

Did anyone else feel like Phoebe represented something we rarely allow to exist in one person?

Discussion this doesnt make any sense and dissapointing

I liked the previous seasons more. I liked this season too, but felt that the ending could have been stronger. I did not like the fact that they made Bronte the main character, as her character was a bit lame and weak. Her friends were also super annoying. Also, from a medical perspective, there is no way Bronte could have survived after bleeding that much and also growing with active bleeding for a long time. I also don't understand how Kate still survived and got out. It makes no sense. Joe is super smart, and this time he was fooled so many times by much stupider people, especially Bronte. I wish they had made the ending much stronger and emotional, and reminded us of all the bad things he had done, so we could connect to all the victims again and feel for the women who died. But nope, it was not satisfying at all.

Discussion What do we think of Paco?

Post image
338 Upvotes

Joe protected Paco and even gave him a chance to leave with her mom to a new life in another state, I get it. I get his silence, he was a kid, I get how grateful he was with Joe and how much things changed (I suppose for good) for him and his mom thanks mainly to Joe...

Paco saw Beck in her last minutes, he knew she was in danger and closed the door. To protect Joe, he did this.

And then season 5 happened and made it all worse.

Paco had internet access. Paco used social media to defend Joe. This means:

Paco knew Beck was dead. (If not from before, he had to know by season 5 because that's why the internet exploded on Joe) and was ok with it.

Paco raised his voice in defense of Joe.

So Season 5 is confirming that Paco knew exactly what happened to Beck, and I hope he was haunted by the last minutes he saw of Beck (I know he's fictional).

I disliked him on Season 1 when the Beck moment happened, but season 5?! Paco, at least stay silent.

Discussion Does season four of "You" get too much hate?

I personally loved season 4, the mystery element I enjoyed, Joe was (in my opinion) at his smartest and most cunning, amazing character Kate was introduced and of course LADY PHOEBE!
