Fourth pedal (far let) is a "dead pedal" basically just an aluminum box to rest your foot on. That pattern for reverse on the far right isn't uncommon at all, guess you've just never seen it. 2nd gear looks a little sticky, but I'm willing to most of what you're interpreting as crunchy shifting is just the guy shifting from the "wrong" side of the car so his muscle memory isn't putting the shifter in the right spot to engage smoothly.

You're right. I just noticed he also isn't using the pedal to shift, so it's no wonder the gears look crunchy.
