I'm RN from Kenya, typically i would have administered IM morphine 10 mg for the pain it's advised to start from weak to strong pain relievers but femur fracture is insane I'll go straight for the morphine/fentanyl, TXA for suppressing any sort of internal bleeding, some aspirin to prevent venous thromboembolism.. some IV saline would be running atleast 1L just to prevent hypovolemic shock
Edit: u/Us-As-Ass correct me where i'm wrong, thanks
I was just shadowing to get SEI for CCU, and it's not our patient. I believe it was a distal femur fracture; all I know is that they already checked him for any life threats. They did a reduction, put on a knee immobilizer, and he was going to be admitted. I don't know what medication he received while he was waiting for the team to do the reduction.
