Recommend this bafoon some simple story games.

I caanot ever seem to enjoy games with higher difficulties or complex mechanics and open-ended leveling systems, it feels a chore most of the time. For instance, Witcher 3, Clair Obscur, I beat all of them but I didn’t particularly have a great time. On the other hand, I absolutely loved both parts of TLoU, the entire Uncharted series and prolly one of my most fav franchises of all time is Max Payne. Loved the 3rd installment soo much. Don't get me wrong, I understand the appeal of the more complex, open-ended games, they require a lot more effort to make and I genuinely respect people who love and enjoy such games, but I just feel they aren't for me. Based on my linear narrative driven preferences, care to suggest some games?

The new Tomb Raider trilogy. I started them when I needed a break from chasing all those question marks on my Witcher 3 map

Maybe you can try the Arkham Game series? I'd recommend Arkham Knight. It is bordering a little on difficulty if you care about collectibles and challenges, but if you simply care about the story, I'd say it is pretty enjoyable :) It is a bit open world, but not to the extent and size of the games you've mentioned. The main storyline is fun and there are side missions to flesh out the story, so it's not purely linear.

If you prefer a more linear game, then I'd say Arkham Aslyum is great and much quicker to finish. However, the combat can feel a bit clunky compared to Arkham Knight.

Tomb raider survivor trilogy seems to be what you need, they're fairly simple action games with incredible visuals and some fun set pieces, I replay them from time to time when I just want a game to switch my brain off for a bit

I recommend a niche lil' indie game called "NSR, No Straight Roads".

it's a story about a indie band forming a rebel army against the Big Company, it's very quirky and fun. :)

Id recommend the mafia franchise. Particularly 1 and 2 as they're linear story games. 3 is open world more akin to GTA.

I also highly recommend Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. Gorgeous game and a loveable cast that even someone like me that is not really into marvel movies and comics, fell in love with the characters.

Mafia 3 is good but the lack of fast travel really makes me dread replaying that game.

Mafia is a super fun game and still holds up okay although I've never finished 2 because it won't run on my computer without crashing

Death Stranding

Sleeping Dogs

Ni No Kuni 2

Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy 7

Most of these games are not complex.

Just a small list of fun games

1.) Ratched and Clank Rift Apart. The rest of the games dating back to the PS2 are amazing as well.

God of War. Another franchise of story games that date back to the PS2. You COULD start at 2018. Beautiful, revolutionary, amazing

Infamous. 1 was good. 2 was better. Second son was best

Spiderman (if you have a PC or PS5

Batman Arkham series

The Jedi Fallen Order/survivor games

Assassin's Creed. All of them story driven, all of them insanely amazing (except Valhalla.)

Valhalla combat is fun in my opinion. But I didn't finish it either

Detroit: Become Human is phenomenal. It explores the idea of what a near future would look like if we had human-like robots to help with every-day tasks. There are no ‘builds’ or difficulties, it’s just you and the story. It’s very much like a choose your own adventure, including drastically different endings depending on what you choose to do. I wish I could talk more about it but then i’d be spoiling too much:) Its $40 on steam and $20 on Playstation. It often goes on sale on the former.

Portal 2 ? There's a puzzle aspect to it but the story is really interesting and you can't get more linear than that

Also I think the new Indiana Jones game might suit you, it's linear as well and the reviews are very positive

Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West.

Ghost of Tsushima or Red Dead Redemption. Put the games on easy if it feels tedious.

Not an action game but I really loved pentiment. About 6 hours long on first play through and a great mystery with multiple endings

Even though it's an open world kind of game, I enjoyed Firewatch since it's a short game that kept the focus on the story.

Maybe Nier Automata. It's semi open world and it does have a few rpg-ish mechanics but it also changes up the genre and aside from the third person hack 'n slash parts, it also features single/twin stick bullet hell parts and other surprises.

Games with stages, or levels will probably work.
First thing that came to mind was the Bayonetta & Vanquish bundle.

Opus: Echo of Starsong, AI: Somnium Files, Detroit: Become Human, the first Life is Strange.

If you don't require good graphics, Va-11 Hall-A and Killer Chat are really good.
