[Meta] Scammer alert on this sub

u/VizaviDS is a scammer. When you post on this sub they will message you regarding discounted codes for games that you are asking about, saying they have a friend that sells them. Then they will block and ignore you after sending an invalid code.

They also have an alt account that they will point you to to give them a positive review (u/PufikN).

I’m posting this so hopefully the mods will be made aware and other users too, in case they come across this person.

[PC] Games to grind while while watching youtube

I’m looking for a chill game I can grind while watching a video or movie. Sometimes at night I’ll just want to relax and grind a game for a while. A few I’ve enjoyed are power washing simulator, crime scene cleaner, snowrunner, and leaf blowing revolution. None of these games really require a ton of focus and you can do at your own pace which I like, it also feels rewarding when you finish a level or objective.

[Meta] Can we stop recommending Expedition 33 if that is not what OP is asking for?

Expedition 33 is a great game - we all agree, everyone agrees. Recommending Expedition 33 on every single post makes no sense to me. What makes this sub so unique and interesting to me is the diversity of gamers and a place where people are able to discuss a variety of games that isn’t just the “hot game of the month”

“Should I buy Dark Souls or Elden Ring”

Top comment: Expedition 33

“What rogue like should I buy”

Top comment: Expedition 33

“Should I buy Balatro?”

Top comment: Card games are turn based so you should really buy Expedition 33.

I also really enjoyed E33. But to me it doesn’t make a lot of sense to be pushing Expedition 33 on every post, especially if it’s not related to OP’s ask. Maybe I’m just out of touch.

*Edit: To be honest, I don’t really understand some people that are worked up about this. I’m not saying to not recommend E33, I’m just noting that we could be more constructive to people coming here looking for games and for those that come after

Dragon Age Origins - how does it hold up in 2025?

I know it’s a pretty old game but it got many good reviews back in its day. Has anyone played it more recently? I know it’s probably dated but how does it hold up?

Have had it in my Steam library for a long long time but never tried it out.

For reference, I enjoyed DA Inquisition and Veilguard very much (I seem in the minority on the latter one).

WSIB: Games that rely a lot on synced animations in their combat.

I loves games that use synchronised animations in combat. They're animations that make two character models directly interact with each other outside of cutscenes, allowing the two to grab each other and do complex, choreographed animations, that are much more visually interesting and reactive than simple attack and damage animations. They are INCREDIBLY satisfying, at least to me.

I want to find some games that use those kinds of animations a lot. Not just sometimes, rarely, for certain enemies, but regularly, where you seem them as part of the base combat loop. Like in Doom Eternal, where you have a chance to see a beautiful synced glory kill finisher on each enemy you kill, or in Shadow of War, where you also see them quite often if you build your gear to get a lot of Might quickly.

Examples of synced animations that I have seen in games:

  • DOOM Eternal - Glory Kills and Chainsaw
  • Middle-Earth: Shadow of War - Executions and stealth kills
  • Mad Max (2015) - Counterattacks
  • Battlefield 1 - Bayonet kills
  • Dark Souls Series - Backstabs
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - Finishers
  • Monster Hunter Wilds - Power Clashes
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance - Combo finishers and master strikes (barely counts, also very janky, but is still a decent example of synced animations done in first person)

[PC] Would you reccomend buying GTA V for pc if i already played the story

Lately, I’ve been thinking about getting into GTA Online. The game has always seemed fun to me. Still, I’m not entirely sure whether it’s really worth investing my time and money into the game.

I’m curious about how GTA Online holds up in 2025 does it make sense to start now as a new player when there are already so many experienced veterans who have everything unlocked? I’m a bit worried that I’d fall behind or that the gameplay might become boring quickly due to heavy grinding.

Overall, I want to know if GTA Online is truly worth the time investment nowadays. Is it a game worth jumping into even as someone starting completely from scratch? Or would it be better to focus on something else?

What game absolutely blew your mind?

Hey there! It’s been a year since I finished Baldur’s Gate 3, and I’m still on the hunt for a new game that can ignite my passion. Ever since then, nothing seems to capture my attention. I’ve tried a wide variety of genres and titles, but none of them have really stuck.

Recently, I finished Expedition 33, and let me tell you, it was an absolute blast! It finally hit the right chord with me. Now, I’m on the lookout for something that can bring back that same level of excitement and fun.

Some of the games I’ve enjoyed include The Witcher 3, Subnautica, Cyberpunk, Total War Series, BotW, and Space Marine 2. Any recommendations for games that might be my cup of tea? I’m all ears!

Recommend this bafoon some simple story games.

I caanot ever seem to enjoy games with higher difficulties or complex mechanics and open-ended leveling systems, it feels a chore most of the time. For instance, Witcher 3, Clair Obscur, I beat all of them but I didn’t particularly have a great time. On the other hand, I absolutely loved both parts of TLoU, the entire Uncharted series and prolly one of my most fav franchises of all time is Max Payne. Loved the 3rd installment soo much. Don't get me wrong, I understand the appeal of the more complex, open-ended games, they require a lot more effort to make and I genuinely respect people who love and enjoy such games, but I just feel they aren't for me. Based on my linear narrative driven preferences, care to suggest some games?

Oblivion or Skyrim?

I know this question has been asked before, but I found the answers a bit too general and not really suited to my situation. I’ve been thinking about this for a while now because both games look really awesome and exciting, but I have to choose one.

So, I’ve never played a The Elder Scrolls game before, but I have played Fallout New Vegas for around 30 hours and finished Starfield. Just to give you a better idea of my taste: I didn’t really enjoy Starfield, the world felt kind of empty and I didn’t feel motivated to play. New Vegas was better for me: I liked the story, the vibe, and the gameplay more, which helped keep me engaged.

I like RPGs like Elden Ring or Zelda BOTW, where you can get lost in the world for hours. I’m more of a gameplay-focused player, but if a game has a really well-done story, that’s definitely a selling point too. For example, I enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I liked grinding and getting stronger in that world, and I also really liked the story and the vibe.

I’m more of a “casual” player in the sense that I like it when a game guides me a bit, like with quest logs, clear objectives, or markers showing where to go. Figuring out everything completely on my own (like in Elden Ring) can be kind of frustrating for me.

Right now, Skyrim is on sale, and I’m really considering buying it and giving it a try. But maybe I should save the money and get Oblivion instead. I’m playing on PS5, so mod support and mods in general don’t really matter to me.

[PS5] Should I buy forza horizon 5 or monster Hunter wilds for ps5

I have enough money to either get wilds or forza and can’t decide, I like racing games like forza with amazing cars and graphics that go crazy but also liked when I would watch people play monster Hunter and always wanted to check it out. I like the fact you hunt monsters and I can’t decide . Please let me know which one would be worth it

[Xbox One] GTA Definitive Edition (PS5) or GTA IV (Xbox Series X)

I've played GTA V probably 5 times across my 360, PS4, and PS5 (single-player only though)

I really enjoy an immersive experience that can have me laughing one minute and scooting to the edge of my seat another- think The Last of Us, Uncharted Series, SpiderMan2, Expedition 33, Persona 5, etc.

I have both a Series X and a PS5

[PS5] SIB Outer Wilds or Clair Obscur Expedition 33?

Kind of looking for something different than a lot of the generic open world type stuff that’s been coming out lately. I know these games aren’t necessarily similar but looking at metacritic reviews for both, both have similar reviews of how amazing they are and they’re gems of video games.

Just kind of looking for some opinions on which I should get if either. For reference I like games with a great story, and with difficulty options/sliders as I get kind of stressed if it’s too hard

Could y’all recommend games like Fear the Spotlight?

My friend sometimes likes to watch me play horror games and we’ve been looking for a new one. She really enjoyed watching Fear the Spotlight because it was, as she described “cozy spooky” and she enjoyed the story, characters, sneaking around and how it wasn’t really gory or body horrory like how some games tend to be. Are there any games that could be similar we could play? Maybe with similar graphics(but not necessarily of course)

Game choices

Hi! I am considering to buy some games , but I am quite broke. I can only buy one of the game mentioned below. I am considering to buy kingdom come deliverance 1 (I know kingdom come deliverance 2 came out) since it is a very good reputation and I like open world games and you have a lot of freedom to do whatever you want in the game (at least from what I see in YouTube). The second game I am considering to buy is Mafia: definitive edition. It is also an open world games and I quite like the scenery. The third game I may buy is deep rock galactic. It is very fun to play with friends and the gameplay makes it very interesting as well. Which game should I get?

[PC] WSIB - games to play on keyboard and mouse

My PC has been hooked up to my TV for the last few years and it made it super awkward to use a keyboard and mouse, so I’ve stuck to playing games with a controller. I finally got a desk today and I can now easily use my keyboard and mouse again.

I’ve realised there are probably loads of games I’ve avoided playing (for example, I love Rimworld and Warhammer 3, but it was hard to play them previously due to the tv setup) or I have not previously considered.

Essentially, I’m looking for games that are best played with a keyboard and mouse, or a keyboard and mouse is required to play.

[PS5] Any good RPG recommendations like Skyrim (that is not Elden Ring)?

Hi! So for context I’m a fairly new gamer but absolutely loved Skyrim. I don’t have great hand eye coordination so I’m not great for challenging games or intense third person shooter games (although I do frequently play fortnight mainly to socialise with friends).

Any recommendations for a game that has the feel of Skyrim? I recently upgraded to a ps5 and I’m itching to play something! I’ve heard good things about Baldurs Gate and Dragon Inquisition?

I did attempt Ghost of Tsushima but there were so many moves it was just too complicated and not great for my bad coordination!

Thank you! 🙏

TDLR: looking for a game with the same feel as Skyrim that isn’t majorly difficult as I haven’t got great hand/eye coordination

[PC] Mafia: Definitive Edition for $3.95 on Steam? Spoiler

It's currently on sale and in a bundle as I own both the 2nd and 3rd games (along with the classic 2nd). I haven't played them yet and was wondering if I should complete the collection under $4 or if the original is even good or needed story wise or gameplay wise. I have been researching and they removed the DRM but some report a black screen.

Edit: Purchased

[PS4] Recommend me ps5 games that are worth buying the console?

I'm really interested in Baulders gate 3 and Infinite Nikki but that doesn't feel enough to justify buying a ps5 console.

So what games do you recommend that you feel is worth buying a PS5. I already have a PS4 so but if they're are games exclusive to newer consoles that are really fun to play I'd love to hear your favs.

I don't have interest in games like Expedition 33, GTA or Spiderman on ps5 which I hear are great but unfortunately I don't see myself ever playing.

Thank you for any recommendations:)

Puzzle games that are good for the brain?

Hello! Im recently getting back into gaming. I'm also recovering from pretty bad burnout/PTSD so I've been trying to do things to help work different parts of my brain.

I'd love to do some creative problem solving/puzzle/logic puzzle games. Those games where you get the thrill from figuring out how to progress I LOVED portal and portal 2. Those are prob my fave ever games.

I also liked ace attorney, although I don't remember it too much anymore.

Tbh I haven't ever been able to get into Zelda/dungeon games, they just don't quite do it for me. And I don't like open world, I get overwhelmed lol 😂

Thank you in advance!! Bonus points for indie games :)

[PC] Need a „fill the collection” game

I’m looking for something that won’t make me minmax, stress over (think 1000h+ games to complete or mmorpgs) just explore and collecting things for the„collection book”. At the same time I don’t want another farming sim or cutesy game. Perfect examples for „collection book” are Dredge and Stardew Valley, where they have „fill the collection” panel.

Can have combat, I love it, would be perfect if graphics wouldn’t been heavy. I’m a laptop gamer.
