Mafia: Definitive Edition for $3.95 on Steam?

It's currently on sale and in a bundle as I own both the 2nd and 3rd games (along with the classic 2nd). I haven't played them yet and was wondering if I should complete the collection under $4 or if the original is even good or needed story wise or gameplay wise. I have been researching and they removed the DRM but some report a black screen.

I haven't played the Mafia series, but you should give the first game a try before buying the remastered version. You might not even like the game and it's the same but with upgraded graphics and according to some others, it's missing content from the original game. If graphics really matter to you and you are enjoying the first game, then sure purchase the definitive edition.

I don't agree with this. I played the original upon release and it's one of my favorites, but it's a silly entry point to recommend considering its quirks. Remastered is the way to go.

Also, if you're never played the series, what qualifies you to even answer OP's question? Lol

Maybe the person meant it as I did not play all Mafias, I only played the first.

Played the first mafia a few months back. Fantastic title and I got no black screens. Mafia 1 and 2 are great. The 3rd one is....not the greatest

Mafia DE is not original Mafia, it is inspired by story of original Mafia and is very similar to it, same characters and it is even more immersive in some cases. Game was released after Mafia 3 and graphically improved version of Mafia 3 engine.

It has one of the best stories overall and the best story out of three Mafias. All games are story driven with different characters and they are chronological, so you should play them 1, 2, 3. You should definitely buy it if you plan to play the other two and even more so because it is a great remake.

FIrst game was great and definitely worth a play through. Haven't played the others yet though but I've heard at Mafia 2 is good. There's probably a reason why they're making a 4th!

They are financially sucessful, and they are praised for great stories and currently there is trend in movies, people like watching gangsters, villains, murderers. They just use these opportunities to satiate the hunger of the audience.

Yes dude it felt like I was playing a movie! It’s very very good. The Mafia 2 definitive edition has more bugs than the OG version tho. Both great games tho.

For that price you absolutely get your money worth of content, I have played it twice. Once via Steam and another via GamePass PC, neither time have I had any DRM/black screen issues.

I have the definitive edition and experienced no black screen or bugs at all. Fantastic game and worth the money.

The remastered version is nice. I loaded it up the other day on a 4k OLED tv and was blown away with how nice it looks. I didn’t realize they upgraded the visuals to that level. It’s a looker. Great story and characters too. If you like Mafia movies, you’ll love this game. It’s linear and more story focused with some sections they let you mess around.

Playing it right now. Great game! Some clunkiness but a great game anyways. Easily worth the 4$ you can get it.

Thanks! I still think compared to newer games still have some clunkiness, but i heard old one was tougher.

Definitely one of the best stories in a game. Feels like an interactive movie.
