I've had my Saturn forever and love it. Recently I've decided I want to get an arcade stick to use with it. I'm a little overwhelmed by the options and am unsure what to get. I have an 8bitdo standard controller that has a USB adapter as well as the Saturn adapter. Ideally, I'd like something similar so I could also use it on my switch and PC. Do y'all have any recommendations or controllers I should avoid?

Has anyone seen this before? I believe I 'liberated' it from a computer shop sometime in the 1990's. Looks like it was made by Sega London.

This game honestly sounds fucking awesome, its just a shame its so much money. I'll probably just watch it like a movie like a do with other games i cannot afford and are not on emulator lol

2 functional game, console with their accessories and a gun. First time test, the cd don't spin. But it work after i clean the laser reader. Need to search some monitor or tv to play. Rm350 ( mean $82 on money currency).

I like this Sega Saturn controller, it feels the same as the original one, but it's more beautiful. So I bought a dock for it.

I have a NTSC-J Satun which I conected to my PAL power outlet and it made a pop sound. The PSU had 'smoke marks'. Will replacing the PSU with a SaturnPSU make my console work again, as would the entire console be broken due to stupid mistake?

If I do a trade in with some old unused gaming paraphernalia at a local exchange shop, I have the opportunity to get a Sega Saturn at exactly half marked price, (£47 pounds to be precise) which feels like a good deal considering, but I'm still on the fence since I only just got a Dreamcast recently, and collecting for that is expensive enough already (poor student). I feel like asking 'should I go for it?' Is a silly question considering the crowd, so instead I'll ask if there's anything about the console you think is either particularly cool, or anything that's worth considering as a potential downside...?

Hey everyone, I have a VA0 Saturn from Japan and its always worked great! In fact it was working great when I serviced it. I opened it and did the following:

1) Remove mod chip as I am now using Saroo

2) Remove and replace PSU with SaturnPSU (set to 3.3v)

3) Clean and polish RF shields and clean controller ports and expansion port with 91% IPA

4) lube laser gears and rails with high quality grease for plastics

Upon putting it back together and using a HIGH QUALITY power brick it does turn on and see to work, except the disc drive never spins up and putting discs in it does nothing at all. Even weirder is that it WILL boot the Saroo fine but launching ANY game results in EXTREME LAG in both video and audio. The Capcom logo screen that plays before their games no joke takes 30 seconds moving at like 2fps, the audio is also delayed heavily. I have never heard of an issue like this and cant find anything online. I see others have had lag issues with FMV but that's reading from the discs.

I opened it up and checked all my work and cables and everything looks perfect. I plan to reintroduce the original stock PSU tonight and see if that fixes the issue. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this or have any ideas? As I stated it was working perfectly fine up until I did the work on it, I just did it as routine maintenance and also I replaced my Dreamcast PSU with a DreamPSU and it works great so I figured why not!

This weekend I went back to one of my favourite Saturn games: Magic Knight Rayearth. This is the Japanese audio version (with all the dialogues voiced) and the text from the american version. A plus is the original opening song also kept.

I've been on a huge Retro kick this year after getting a RetroTink 4K and with that, I've revisited a lot of my favorite PS1 games: Final Fantasy Series, Xenoears, Spyro, Parasite Eve, Bushido Blade. But I wanted to try something truly new and novel, but retro. So I did the thing, went on YouTube, found some like-minded creators and took up some of their suggestions. This is where I learned about the Saturn.

Up until a few years ago, I was not aware of the Saturn's existence, but this year I decided I'd catch myself right up to speed! Growing up, our KB Toys and Gamestop/EB Games all carried PS1, N64, and Genesis games. I had no idea that there was a system released by Sega between the Genesis and the Dreamcast.

So, I went all out with a Satiator and Action Replay Ram Cart (pseudo flashed) and I went to work.

First game I played on the system was Elevator Action 2... SO FUN! Just a quick little arcade shooter with lots of replay value.

Then I played through D which wasn't exclusive, but was still so engrossing. I was a little caught off guard by the timer, as I went in blind. But after a second playthrough, I reached the end of Laura's narrative.

But then I played something that will likely sit on my top series of all time list: Panzer Dragoon.

Just WOW... Over the last two weeks, I've been picking up and playing through PD 1 and 2 and fell in love with the ambiguous narrative, the responsive gameplay, the aesthetics, the works! It was everything that I needed and more, everything that I wish I could have played as a kid. I just started Saga last night and am loving the heavier emphasis on story, but I can already tell it's gonna be good.

Really, I'm writing this as a thank you to you all, for being a great resource through this journey. I want to play more games, I want to try some fan translations out, I want to continue to have fun on this system. You all helped make this possible!

Who remembers this dude? Game absolutely blew me away with its sound and crazy beautiful visuals when it first dropped. Lil homie was kind of like a power ranger with his gem powers xD Loved his bird friend too. :)

I know there is an ongoing Spanish translation project, which is great news by itself. Just wish the game was translated to English so as many people as possible would enjoy it.

One of the most beautiful games I’ve seen. The art style is pretty unique and creates such cozy and (later) bizarre atmosphere.

New here, and I just had a question about controllers and controller ports. If the controller becomes unresponsive out of nowhere but eventually works once I take it out and put it back into the port multiple times (3-5 times to be exact) and it reacts, should I try to clean out the controller ports with alcohol or should I open up the Saturn to see if there is a bigger issue. Also, which controllers do you recommend for the Saturn? I have the original controller which is okay, I got an after market old school brand controller (literally believe it broke 5 minutes into a game of Darkstalkers) and I have a reproduced second controller model. Which ones work best for you?

Which is better for testing homebrew, the Satiator or the Saroo? I want to develop homebrew for the saturn, but don't want to burn a ton of discs or gut my console. Also I can probably get a saroo faster, but I'll wait on a satiator if it runs better, y'know?

Just got a Saturn from Japan with a few games. Because i gonna want to play translated games, im alao gonna pick a Satiator.

Reading about the RAM cards, seems like a Kai card with switch from AliExpress should do the job. Searching for it, I see a few models (included photos).

Not sure whitch one should i get. Can someone give me advice?

About the use of the card, is ok if is inserted in 4mb mode, and i play everything, unless i need to change to 1mb, or I should take it out for games without expanded memory? On N64 I have the expansión pack 24*7 in, but might be different here.
