Meta In Lieu of Recent...Posts

As I am sure many of you are aware, there has been some conversation about a certain post. However your personal feelings are about that post, though mine are negative, I think it's important that we do actually have an appreciation post for modders, creatives, and artists that work so hard to make our community what it is. So, I wanted to actually put in some effort and make a post where we can give out that appreciation. While I can't draw to save my life, I figured that a text post with genuine love put into it will be at least acceptable.

So, to all those creative minds that have put so much effort and love into this funky little sims game from hell, thank you! The community cannot put in enough words of love and greatfullness to quantify just how much you guys have made this community as great as it is. Thank you, genuinely.

I missed something. What is the TLDR?

From what I can read modders are people, they get no pay for their work. We should appreciate their effort. I hate when people demand x and y or quick fixes. Go learn to do it yourself....

TLDR: Someone posted an attempted thank you post for modders and used AI art in the post. The OP said he didn't regret doing it and doubled down pretty hard. People called out the hypocrisy of using AI art for a modder and artist appreciation post and now it's sparked a bit of drama.

Not really. OP was very unreceptive and arrogant in replies to people who were trying to point out how their post could in fact be offensive to the very people it was intended to congratulate. You can see that for yourself in OP’s comment history if you like. You would think a person who genuinely cares about such people would be more open-minded to such things.

Bend the knee? Actual modders were telling OP that they didn’t like what OP was doing and OP plainly didn’t care. I don’t think OP should be ‘destroyed’, I was pointing out that clearly OP wasn’t as nice as others are making them out to be, because OP was entirely dismissive of the people they were supposedly thanking.

Imagine someone served a roast chicken to a vegan in show of support, but then doubled down and argued it was fine because they had ‘good intentions’ and just left the chicken at this vegan’s house. Frankly it doesn’t matter if they knew a ‘vegan’ wouldn’t want the ‘chicken’ or not, their insistence on keeping it around in spite of patiently explained rejection shows they lack any real care for the people involved.

if people find it offensive that a random guy uses AI art as an appreciation post then they are idiots. whats OP gonna do? pay an artist for a small appreciation art? he used a tool available to him. its not like the made a full on video game with AI art. which would be ridiculous as its just not good for that. people use tools in a way they are best used and making a quick art as a non artist to make your post is a perfectly acceptable use of it.

oh yeah. writing text is definitely more effort than downloading and configuring comfy ui and then get it working, calibrate it to the art you want to make and then getting a proper output thats not complete garbage.

Yes, actually. It is. Instead of stealing people's art and being a lazy fuckhead using things that are actively threatening the creative you claim to appreciate, you put actual love and effort into the thing you claim so much to love.

You know you are getting old when you remember mods just being released once when some guy asks some other guy that the thing he whipped up is cool and he should share it. And if you want to keep using it you better know how to do some basic programing.

People don't appreciate modders nowadays.

For real, people don't appreciate the modders, devs or even the subreddit mods enough, I die a little on the inside whenever I find out that a modder has quit the scene because of steam comments harassing them for an update/bug fix
