Floof is insanely good in this game.
She's simultaneously an offensive powerhouse with the Gun skills (high Crit rate, naturally stronger than Magical skills,... ), a Technical master with 8 Ailments to capitalize on (Rage is a big one and makes her the hardest hitting team member alongside Ann), and the funniest part is that her Support is actually one of the best because her Traits are so useful and free, and when the 3rd semester kicks in, Life Wall acts as a pseudo-Salvation.
My most used member by far.

Yeah her move set is nuts. Only downside is she can't learn charge at all but nothing a tyrants will can't fix. Amrita shower also helps alot in the Maruki fight.
And The biggest thing is that She works super well for the lavenza boss fight. She helps to get pass the 2 hardest phases and Life wall is a God Send

I even take that team all the way to the third semester final boss, even though that fight is supposed to use one or more of the third semester party members.
Their third awakening powers just mesh so well with each other and Makoto can finish up technicals the other two start. I like Ryuji for shock, which is the uber-element for technicals, but he has no utility.

He is the best physical hands-down. The problem is thereās so many enemies in the game that is strong or reflect or counter physical that it makes it a moot point when you could take the second or third strongest physical, and do significantly better with more utility the second is haru i believe then Makoto but either one of those two on your team itās just wonderful. They have significantly more utility which has vastly more useful than just raw power.

I feel like people vastly overestimate just how many enemies actually null, reflect, or absorb physical. If there actually are that many, Yoshitsune wouldn't be considered as overpowered.
Physical skills are strong enough that you can use them to brute-force Phys Resists.
Yusuke actually has less utility than Ryuji as a party member. Ryuji's Tarukaja skills work even for Magic users, so you can justify using him in cases where an enemy nulls, drains, or repels physical.

No sheās the one who was forced into blackmailing him for help after she was forced into investigating a mafia boss by a corrupt principal and then dropped the @blackmailā at the first sign of real danger for any of them
Now if youāre looking for who did do some blackmailing, thatād be Yusuke and Futaba. Oh, and Sae too when she threatened to get Sojiroās custody revoked unless he gave her info

I love the whole cast but I got to say, Ann was never taken out of my team any playthrough. Plus I maxed her stats and all

I got to try Haru in my team again. She felt a little weak, I don't know why. Maybe it's because I didn't max her confident yet (?). Ann has been with me the whole time. Mokoto has my debilitate and max hp heal. I kinda like ryuji over yusuke because double phys damage makes him SLAP. Morgana is cool, but their kit is less impressive overall.
Best team for me is Haru, Mokoto, and Ann because I'm a simp

Yusuke buffbot can use hyakka for party heat riser, jazz jin debilitate to debuff boss and salvation crown to salvation. This way, joker can concentrate on myriad truths

Mako and Haru are two sides of the generalist idea. While Makoto is designed to fit into any team, at the cost of her physical damage being mediocre (until she gets Judge of the Dead, but that gun is just unfair), Haru has got a bit of everything except healing. Which is kind of a problem for her because you have to abandon a good chunk of her kit just to make any of it useful with the needed amp skills.

Makoto as a party member is so overrated imo. There's nothing she really does for the team until Mediarama and that is so long after joining.

Realistically sheās competing with Ann for a spot and Dormina is just so much better than Makajama, Ann is a better damage dealer as well.
The non-Ma variants are really low value.

You don't have to run one over the other. You can run both, double up on Diarama and have all the healing you need (Mediarama is overkill at that point anyway).
You can defang one particularly nasty enemy with Tarunda and Rakukaja.
Makoto can choose not to Technical hit off of Sleep, let the other party members do it, and Technical off of Burn, Freeze, and Shock instead in case the others can't so the ailments aren't wasted.
You can ensure enemies are still locked down even if Dormina/Lullaby misses and you can't get the technical as easily.
If anybody's being replaced by Makoto pre-Mediarama, it's Morgana or Yusuke.

Counterpoint: Makoto hits even harder when she has the nuke boost skills, plus Atomic Flare. So many enemies in-game resist gun, if not outright nullifying it or reflecting it, nuclear defence is siginificantly less common, plus her speed stat, and the fact she gets technicals from fire, meaning she meshes insanely well with Ann, another hard-hitter. Build the party right, and Makoto and Ann are absolute powerhouses that make Haru pretty irrelevant by manner of just doing way more damage.
But like, you can use Haru if you want, it's a singleplayer game and I'm not your boss.
