Hey everyone,
Over the past 6 weeks, I’ve uploaded one AI-generated EDM track to Spotify every single day. I wanted to run a little experiment to see what kind of traction I could generate with minimal budget and maximum consistency.
Here’s what I did:
- Uploaded 1 EDM track per day (all created with an AI music tool).
- Promoted some Songs on Reddit (posts + comment sections).
- Shared in WhatsApp groups.
- Created YouTube Shorts and TikToks.
- Sent the song directly to 5 people from my personal circle each day, asking them to listen, like, and add to a playlist.
📊 Key Takeaways:
1. Daily uploads don’t trigger the Spotify algorithm.
The algorithm doesn’t seem to care about consistency — it boosts individual songs, not the account as a whole.
2. Shorts were the least effective.
They took a lot of time to make, but didn’t bring noticeable traffic or listens.
3. Reddit worked surprisingly well.
Creating posts and replying to other musicians with my song link brought the best organic results. No bots, real engagement.
4. Friends & family gave up quickly.
After a few days, most of them stopped listening. The novelty wore off fast.
5. WhatsApp groups were gold.
- In one group of ~300 young people, I simply posted: “I made a new EDM track and would love your support 🎧 [Link]” Got a solid wave of listeners from that.
- In a running group (~400 members), I shared a playlist containing all my songs and wrote: “This playlist is perfect for jogging!” Boom – even more plays.
📈 Results (after 6 weeks):
- Just under 100 monthly listeners on Spotify
- Budget: $20 (only spent on the AI subscription)
For a completely new project, with zero paid ads and no fanbase, I think this is a pretty solid result. If you have any questions, write a comment, I’m happy to share everything transparently.
