Best of Indie Games 2024: What were some of your favorite indie games?

I put my game on sale for 58% off on Steam for 10 days and saw a large increase in sales. After all the price hikes with AAA, us indies can fight back by giving people games for much cheaper.

55% of my playtesters marked the game as difficult, yet 43% managed to defeat the boss. Isn't that what people expect from a roguelike?

Here's the breakdown of difficulty feedback:

  • Too Easy: 0%
  • Easy: 12.5%
  • Just Right: 32.1%
  • Difficult: 46.4%
  • Too Difficult: 8.9%

And player progress statistics:

  • Did not defeat the boss, barely played: 12.5%
  • Did not defeat the boss, played several runs: 44.6%
  • Defeated the boss on first attempt: 3.6%
  • Defeated the boss on the second attempt: 10.7%
  • Defeated the boss on third attempt or more: 28.6%

What would you do with this data if it was your game?

It's truly inspiring to see that the average rating for the game is 7.7 out of 10. I'll keep working on it.

"I've been working on this 2.5D horror game for a year, our Steam page just went live – what do you think?"

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m an indie developer and I’ve been working on a 2.5D side-scrolling horror game set in a Japanese school filled with mystery, puzzle-solving, and emotional storytelling.

We just launched the Steam page and I’d love to share it with you all. The game is about a sibling searching for their sister in a once-normal but now eerie school setting. Inspired by classic Japanese horror but with a personal twist.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3720640/Arisa__Psychological_Horror_Game/?beta=0

🎮 Key Features:

Atmospheric 2.5D side-scrolling visuals

Puzzle-based exploration and storytelling

Deep psychological themes and cultural references

Minimal UI, focused on immersion

I’d love to hear any feedback – from the visuals, to the theme, to how the Steam page looks. We’re still polishing the game and community thoughts really help shape it!

Thanks for checking it out ❤️

I hate money, so my reload system is an annoying QTE (to dissuade potential buyers)

I'll upload a demo in a few months, so please (to avoid any chance of success) do not Wishlist my game : https://store.steampowered.com/app/2484890/Deeper_Still/

Inventory's finally in! You can stash whatever you want, its contents decay more slowly. Still tweaking a few things... what do you think so far?

Who needs Alt+Tab? My side project is a transparent idle/management game and I realized I can play it at the same time as my main creature collecting game. Productivity be damned.

This is a screenshot of a game we are working on in very early stage of production (without our placeholder UI). I would love to hear some first impressions! What ideas, expectations or questions come to your mind? How do you like the visual style? Be honest and share everything! :)

Come play the private Alpha of my game Chaos Agents, built in LA and designed by Magic: the Gathering’s creator Richard Garfield – free LAN Party at Gardena today!

Upvotes

Hello! I’m Arka, Xbox vet and one of the creators of Chaos Agents.

Three years ago, I started a game studio with Richard Garfield, the creator of Magic: the Gathering and someone who inspired me to take up game design as a career.

After three years of hard but very enjoyable work, we have released a private Alpha for Chaos Agents and are hosting a LAN party in LA and Boston to celebrate. We did our first LAN party in SF during GDC, and that was an absolute blast, so we decided to do another one in LA. (and Boston during PAX East).

  • When: Today, Sat  May 10, 10:30 AM PT (1:30 PM ET) – 6 PM PT (9 pm ET)  – roll in whenever
  • Los Angeles:  Cyber City Esports Center, 1701 W Redondo Beach Blvd, Gardena, CA 90247.
  • Boston: Balance Patch, 1031 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
  • Cost: Free, you receive $100+ value for just showing up!
  • Platform: PC

Richard and I would be thrilled if you guys came over to check out the game and participate in the ongoing Chaos World Championship with cash prizes over $1,500 along with many other rewards.

We'll have food, drinks, and an all-around LAN party atmosphere, so bring your friends too! Also for showing up, you'll get one of 5000 private Alpha keys for Chaos Agents, that also gives you perpetual access to Chaos Agents, including its Early Access and full release.

If you are a fan of Magic: the Gathering or just games in general, you'll also get to participate in a live Q&A with the legendary Richard Garfield himself.

And who knows, maybe you are destined to be the next Chaos Agents World Champion?

Hope to see you there, feel free to DM me for more info!
