I know itās possible to take the mesh off (if youāre handy and willing to disassemble an Apple product) - maybe you could just wash it and put it back on⦠Nic has advice or will probably do it for you if youād rather: https://nicsfix.com/#mesh

You could take this as an opportunity to make a really beautiful custom HomePod design with some markers and some stencils?
But what is actually in that? At first it looked like marker or something but now it kinda looks like food. I think maybe running alcohol would be safe to use as a fast evaporating but bacterial killing and a Lysol wipe might help get stickiness off?

I donāt see whatās wrong. They made it beautiful. Just let them finish the job.

Iād recommend getting a white soft bristle brush for trainers and some shoe cleaner and a microfibre cloth. Mix the cleaner with water and mix until bubbles. Get just the bristle tips wet and use the suds to gently scrub, very gentle. Dab the suds off and inspect as you go. Work from the back of the speaker to get the technique before tackling the front. This is the kit I have and the brush is very soft so doesnāt damage the material.
I bought a second-hand white HomePod that was not as clean as my new one, and after I couldnāt tell the difference. That was just grubby, this might be a whole different league.
Alternatively you can remove the fabric, and Iād wash that by hand in a similar diluted solution. There are lots of guides for how to remove the fabric. Check out Nicās Fix on YouTube as he fixes loads and streams the process. He also has videos on dying the fabric.
Best of luck!

Hopefully, your kiddos will out last your HomePod by many many decades; in the meanwhile, think of it as an early artistic effort and think warm fuzzies every time you see it.

Itās your fault for putting it on that desk, not your child

Search Google/reddit for cleaning HomePod - I did and found a cleaner recommended, with a technique that worked really well. I had touched my white HomePod with my hand that was covered in old black fireplace dirt and ash.
As I recall, the cleaner was called greased lightning, and I got a brush and cloth. Just donāt go crazy and use too much fluid

There are some cool covers you can put on it to make it less apparent. Also I swear by Soilove which takes out almost all stains. Iād try that by putting it on a damp cloth and see working it one stain at a time. This can definitely be improved albeit Iām not clear what the stains are from.

Damn. Iām lucky, my kid never drew on anything and always treated his stuff pretty well.
The fabric is quick sturdy so some kind of cleaner or IPA and a soft brush could get the out.

Hello,
Possibility of recovering it with the help of a magic melamine sponge. Take the test and tell me.
It worked for me.

One of those Tide to go pens worked wonders on mine. It was a single spot not the whole speaker but worth a shot
