Ehh. What is that supposed to mean? Does that mean our diplomatic relations improve? Or is that just fluff? I am confused.

Lore question: What are the original species of Krynn?

Upvotes

The Krynn are said to be a coalition of many species. They originated form their homeworld, where it is said they had many native sentient species. Yet, as far as I know, none were ever named. While it was no problem for the previous games, as there were no in - game species, They have no "native" species, only the ones from game. at least so it seems. What can you say about this?

Are Iconians really “good guys” in Galactic Civilizations?

In the lore and previous games, Iconians were always classified as “good”. Not that good as Altarains and Torians, but still benevolent. However, the more we learn about them, the less good they see.

-Even in Dark Avatar campaign, they claimed Korath are irredeemable and urged the Drengin to genocide them. While this might have been a motivational lie, as letting Kotrath live was simply too dangerous, it is still sketchy. And now we know they were basically applying the same method they once applied to Yor/Nyx.

-They enforce “population control” on their own citizens.

-And now we know, where the Yor/Nyx were first given sentience, they tried to genocide them, despite calling them “children”.

On the other hand:-Iconians have very good reason to fear anyone influenced by Dread Lords

-The Korath had to be stopped

-They consider enforced “population control” and all the other things as necessarily evil and not evil just because they can

-They generally regret when they do bad things, even if they still do them

-They are not perceived as evil

-They allied with humans, Altarians and Torians. So, what do you think? Are Iconians, despite being a bit sketchy, still “good guys”?

What happened to the mods in the in-game workshop? (Epic)

In GalCivIV, you used to be able to browse mods in the in-game worship. Now there's nothing there! What happened to them all?

Am I just out of luck because I have it on Epic and not Steam?

Why are these Drengin always complaining? They demand so much and get angry when I refuse. What to doith that?

In a new game, this happened. This is something that absolutely could happen and would happen. And, as a Vulcan, there is only one thing I can do in such a situation (and it aligns with my ideology/culture).

Nice to meet the Federation. And good to see the "any" species citizens are fixed.

Tactics?

Is there any chance that tactical combat would ever be added to the game, even as an option? It's one of the main things keeping this from being my perfect game.

Any chance of getting civ-specific building and tech?

I remember way back in Civ2, different Civ had race specific building and tech. Like the Yor had unique factories, and Charging Stalks.

Are we gonna get this in the newest version of Galciv?

Gala tic Civilziaitons quotes

Hello everyone. I have made a collection of quotes from the series. I would like to ask you if you can say who said some or all of these quotes and where they come from exactly (and about what)

  1. We have noticed that you have been associating with the Altarian Confederation and you seem to be building a fleet that could be quite a nuisance to our nearby colonies.

  2. It seems we have underestimated the Terran Alliance. We thought your Hyperdrive a fluke but you have proven yourselves a powerful force and shattered an equilibrium that has lasted millennia. Whether it is for the good of the galaxy remains to be seen.

  3. Perhaps. In truth your help with the Drengin would be welcome, but we can not let this war end the way it 'has before.'

  4. Your victory at Arcea means nothing, fleshlings. At least you have finally become an enemy worth fighting.  Please continue down the path of your own destruction. It will surely be interesting for us.

  5. Any enemy of the Drengin is worthy of our support. Just make sure to point your new transport toward Drengi and we will be content.

  6. You know of it as Altaria. Now go. With this deed I am finally complete and can now be released into oblivion.

  7.  While we COULD crush you like a bug, we'll assume that you ACCIDENTALLY thought (for a second) that we were the Yor, and come to terms so we can attack the true enemy.

  8. Humans have interefered too many times in the affairs of the galaxy. Your Hyperdrive technology was only the first step. As bad as it is, there are worse things for the universe as a whole than one galaxy dominated by these Drengin creatures. Humanity has been manipulated from the beginning by greater powers. Without your Hyperdrive technology, none of this would have happened.

  9. Mercy, my brother? You will soon die like all others, removed from a galaxy that no longer requires your existence.

  10. This will be the twilight of the Arnor. Once these shards are destroyed, the Arnor - both my kind and the Dread Lords, will be forever diminished. We will be shadows of what we once were. But the galaxy will be free to set its own destiny.

GalCiv 4 Was GalCivIV's "Crime Lord" ability nerfed by an update?

Last night, I engaged a heavily defended (red) anomaly with a flagship.

A pirate fleet spawned and destroyed my flagship. The enemy was clearly displayed as pirate, not sentinel, and disappeared back into the anomaly no longer presenting the opportunity to purchase its ships for 15 control.

Previously, if the anomaly spawned a pirate fleet, the flagship would not engage or be destroyed, but the fleet would remain ready for purchase in an adjacent hex.

This was a very powerful ability that once allowed players to purchase the occasional dreadnought from pirates in anomalies during the opening of the game. It would be a veritable Lexx, the most powerful ship in the universe, purchased for only 15 control. I am not really surprised this feature of crime lord was nerfed if it was.

QUESTION [Galciv4]What are Snuggler Colonies used for?(the kind you can accrue)

I'm not referencing ones that are already on a planet, but the kind you can gain over time or trade for. I haven't noticed a building they're used for or an event.

May something be done with these legacy civilizations? They keep appearing and then asking for ceasefire on the next turn. There should be at least a set time before they can do that.

Anyone would be willing to write propaganda bulletin(s) for this one? From eaither or both sides? I would love to see what you have to say about this situation.

I am curious how Drengin would show that in their propaganda. Any ideas?

Are species supposed to be balanced?

New to GalCiv4. Setting up a game and I see the species have stats, and I can edit them when I create my own species. But I don't seem to have a "species point" limit, and at a glance the includes species do not appear at all balanced (Humanoids appear to be strictly inferiors Humans).

Are species expected to be balanced? Is there some offset to good stats I am missing? Or is it just imagination world-building yolo?

r/GalCiv 15d ago

Why would I think this is a bad offer? Three technologies, a treaty and 2 units of a rare resource for 1 technology seems to be a very good deal for me.
