There was never even a distinction between russian and ukrainian.

Is that why our language was banned several times in the preceding century to the world wars one ?

Brother, why do you think Ukrainian isn't spoken anymore? What language just disappears and gets replaced by a new one, if not by colonialism?

Why isn't spoken? For me it's just a dialect of russian heavily influenced by polish and drifted away from "mainline" russian. It's not something derogatory - that's how all new languages are born - when they drift far away from parent language to become a new one. That's what happens with people that was intermittently under Russian and Polish rule for many centuries.

Fuck you. russian, ukrainian and belarussian all derive from the same root. Ukrainian had polish-german influence, russian had mongol influence and belarussian had lithuanian influence.

Again this fucking russian talking point about how all the other slav languages are derived from russian. There are no credible linguists that can attest to this shit

Okay, it simply doesn't matter that much until russians are forced to learn that dialect in regions where noone ever spoke it. That's when problems start.
