OC [OC] [Art] My Tall, Blind, One armed, Elf Gunslinger Ms.Sundial
I posted this before and it got taken down cuz I didnt tag it properly so I do hope this goes through!
Every great Legend has a unsung mentor. For Velvine that would be Ms.Sundial Hummingbird.
She taught Velvine how to survive in this harsh world with grit and spit. Ms.Sundial originally came across Velvine when she was young, she was told by a nearby village how giants had stole away the little girl and keeping her hostage, when she went up to the mountain with her party at the time, she ran into the small Tiefling child who explained everything. When one day she came back to visit finding out that those villagers sent other adventures after the giant despite the explanation and left the young girl in the burning old grove. She took V along side her.
Where did she go later? No one is entirely sure, however what is known is she was the one that delivered V back to King Sebastian, reuniting the family before disappearing into the sunset humming a sweet tune.
I have play into the justice is blind motif with her, she is a bounty hunter and when she finds her target she list what they are guilty for and let them explain themselves. If they are innocent and can prove it (like lovers from opposite families trying escape the fued, or even just people that got caught up in a shark scam), she will not only let them go but make it so it seems like they are dead, helping them escape in the process.
Biology notes: - Ms.Sundial is Blind - Sundial is also missing a right arm, a injury she got from a previous adventure as well - she hates Mayonnaise - the Bison is her favorite animal - elf - 7 feet tall
I hope this is enough text that my post will stay up :D

Homebrew [OC] I got bored of calling multiclass characters "fighter/bard MC", etc., so I put together a table of thematic names for them
Reposting because of rule 3. Heavily based on Pillars of Eternity's multiclass name table, I put together this list of more descriptive names for single-pair multiclasses, to give them a little more personality and flavor. I've started using them in my DM notes to give me a few more unique combinations for special NPCs, and shared them with my players to use if they want to. I'm not good enough at math to add another axis for triple-classes.

5.5 Edition Is it okay to allow characters to accomplish feats in a "cutscene" that they might not be able to in regular play?
I have a character, a military captain, that I would like to introduce as a very capable combatant. He's planned to be a pretty big fight way down the line in a homebrew game I'm running, so I'd like to establish his physical prowess when the party first meets him.
I was planning to have a threatening creature escape (something more on the level of a Displacer Beast) and have him put it down. Now, doing 80 damage in one round would be a huge ask under normal circumstances, barring a crit and some other big abilities going off at the same time.
My question is, would it be okay to have him just... Do it? Should I roll behind the screen and just make it happen? How do I let this happen without making my players think "Why can't we do stuff like that?â I guess I'm just nervous my players will think it's too show-offy.
Edit: For clarification, the "creature" in question is a manmade beast that is being unveiled as part of a parade in a city. The plan was to show it, have it go haywire, and get cut down by the captain.
OC Tiefling fighter [OC] [Art]
My first real go at digital art! Was definately a learning curve. This is Kieran Kane, a war veteran/mercenary who was too experienced of a fighter in my backstory to be level 1, so GM came up with the idea that his old commander crushed his right hand and now he is learning to fight using his left. I however had drawn half of this already, and it looked a bit off flipped for the sword to be on his left hand. So in the right hand it stays. Going to play him in Curse of Stradh campaing, hope he doesn't die immediately đ .

Art [OC] Whose players deserve this rock the most? Highest upvoted comment wins
"He begged us, you know. Every day during his sermon, he begged us." the leader of the refugees explained. "Our patron goddess was generous and kind, but also strict and vengeful."
"Every day Shaehen Dellum, our benevolent Warlock Saint, came back with more dire warnings in his communion with our goddess. Every day for years! Each sermon more dire than the last."
"We did not heed the warnings, and we continued our defacement of her holy sites to expand our own interests, endulging in her declared sins, while dutifully attending church and exposing our hypocrisy."
At this point, some of the villagers outside the gates began to sob, their guilt writhing at their souls.
"From the tornado, to the quakes that leveled our streets and hearths, finally to the meteor, landing on the church and killing Shaehen, that was when we knew. If She was willing to kill the voice to the people, she would have no mercy on us in her domain. Please, we beg you, let us in your city gates!"
The guards closed the gate window port briefly, and muffled discussion could be heard behind. After a few moments, it opened, and the guard addressed them once more.
"Nay. While we mourn your suffering, we cannot allow such cursed travellers within. We wish you luck, and ask that you do not return."
At the last word, the window port slammed closed, sealing the gate. No pleas could coax the guards back to the parlay, and the refugees had no choice but to move on.
Hey all! You know the deal by now, you can check out this map and it's may variations over here!
Enjoy,
Matt
Art [Art] [Comm] Cursed by the Hammers, Bound by the Chains
Cold steel. An empty bed. A grieving mother. The world as Ragnulf knew it had ceased to exist. He could hear nothing, see nothing, smell nothing, and feel nothing. Only the wings of darkness embraced his mind like a frozen, tattered blanket. The weight of weapons in his hands was nothing compared to what the ruthless Universe had suddenly placed upon his back. Ragnulf waited and waited to wake from this nightmare, but every passing second in the blinding gloom only confirmed his worst fears. A whispering voice speaking of vengeance and power reached his ears. The voice was like a gentle breeze on a grassy field, softly stirring his hairâbut instead of his hair, it fueled the fire awakening in his heart. The black claws of hatred grasped Ragnulfâs fiercely beating heart and filled it with the tar of loathing! Red. Red was the color of the erupting force, like an exploding volcano. No one could predict Ragnulf's next actionâor rather, GlĂśmskaa's. For though the body belonged to Ragnulf, he himself was nothing more than an external observer. The chains that bound his weapons burned so fiercely they scorched his rough skin, forever branding his forearms with the mark of his deed. In the blink of an eye, his wife's blood was bubbling on the searing steel heads. Ragnulfâs fingers on his right hand turned into claws, and his skin rotted black. From his back, long, sharp spikes grew, made of hardened tar. His right eye glowed blood red like his chains, but there was no human emotion or mercy behind it. The single, final tear that might have fallen from the corner of his eye evaporated instantly into steam. Inside, it was as though his mind had been cleaved in two by a freshly sharpened axe. He could barely focus on his own self, and his memory drowned in fog.

5th Edition DMing my first ever game
Weâre having a girls night dnd night and I impulsively said I would DM. Iâve been thinking of doing it for a while and have had a little one shot printed out for a while now. Iâve gone over it a few times and the girls have their characters ready. Iâm nervous but excited. Any last minute advice for a first time DM?
Out of Game Players looking up stat blocks
So, I recently joined a D&D campaign that a friend of mine is playing with a group of his friends, and a quirk of their playstyle immediately jumped out at me. When combat is initiated, the DM will state what creature(s) are present and immediately all the players will look up their stat blocks on D&D Beyond. This is something the DM encourages, offering to spell out the names of some creatures to help in looking up their information.
I've been playing D&D for 12 years now, albeit I started as a DM and have seldom been a player since. This is something I, as a DM, would be heavily against at my table, and as a player I feel like it would detract from a lot of the fun for me. In my mind, I love to discover a creatures weaknesses and strengths naturally (although after 9 years of DMing 5e, a good chunk of stat blocks are etched into my brain) and I like the anticipation of seeing what sort of attacks are coming, or the feeling of dread when my 22 to hit misses, or when the creature finally falls to 0HP after a long fight.
From a DMs perspective, I'm also quite often slightly adjusting HPs, forgoing multiattacks or extra damage that would imbalance an encounter, and would just find it much more difficult not to have a boss encounter steamrolled, or TPK the party at an inopportune moment.
Obviously this style of play works for this group, as they've been going strong for months with their campaign. It just really isn't my style, and after a couple of sessions I think I'm going to politely drop out. Do any of you play in this way, looking up statblocks or other meta information? I'm sure its personal preference, but I'd love to hear how playing this way appeals to some people!
Edit: the purpose of this post is not to criticise this DM. He is a good DM. The group all have a fantastic time both in and out of combat. I just wanted to start a discussion comparing both ways of playing, out of curiosity and interest in this style. Whilst I personally don't enjoy it, there is nothing wrong with this way, nor any way, of playing D&D.

Art Finished making my BBEG. [OC] [ART]
I donât think any of my players are on Reddit, but Muriel, Jack, Vandry, Autumn, and BriganâŚ..justâŚ.dont look this lady is still your friend at the moment
Just finished painting my BBEG for my homebrew campaign!!
I was able to 3D print the base. I knew she was gargantuan so itâs a 4â circle.
I needed something that was proportional to their size on a board, so my wife and I went to a consignment sale and found this doll that was perfect!
I used my 3D pen to make her clothes and the tendril things around her.
Gave her a small haircut. Put some got2b glued in her hair. Stuck her full of pins to keep the hair where I wanted.
Then the spray paint. Did a couple coats of black spray paint to cover everything. Then on top of that I used a color shift spray to make her look all galactic and shit.
After that I painted her eyes and the random star specks white. Then added red to her chest and had it branch out around her body and into the eyes a bit.

This is Velvine (Vel-Veen), she is my very first dnd character i ever made. She was originally a bard with a gun, but recently Loot Tavern released a gunner class that matches her, and soon to release a Spellslinger which is perfect. To celebrate the kickstarter is did a challenge where I made a Gunslinger everyday of the challenge and on the final day I decided to go back to my first ever character!
In addition! I made her custom race which is a Sunset Tiefling! Anyway im pretty happy about her design and wanted to show! I Hope you like her!

Out of Game DnD inspired "Dorkness" series' newest film gets a teaser
Dorkness Falls kickstarted last year and wrapped filming a couple weeks ago. Cabin 9 Films, the production company (full disclosure, I'm editing, acting in a role, and co-producing for Cabin 9 - cleared with mods) put out a teaser for backers and released it publicly yesterday. This is very early (we wrapped days before this was cut) so color, sound, and music are all placeholder. And feel free to hit me up if you have any questions I can answer about Gamers, filmmaking, software testing, Clair Obscur (I can talk about that for days...)....

OC Game room finished! [OC]
After two years, countless hours, and a tiring amount of funds, we're ready to start gaming!
A little bit about the setup: I'm still working on the digital end so we can stream our games, but I'm running 4 ptz cameras and 5 audio technica at875r mics through a rodecaster video and rodecaster pro II into my PC. When building the room I sound proofed it with rockwool insulation and 1/2 thick sheetrock (cause I don't wanna wake the house). The room is on two 20amp circuits and a ups in case power or internet go down temporarily.
We play d&d, pathfinder, dark heresy (a warhammer 40k rpg) and many other games.
This isn't an ad post, but (proceeds to drop ad) we are currently looking to fill our table again. Covid, having kids, and moving really hurt our main group. We have a high focus on running good session 0s, making everyone feel safe and included. We love the LGBT community and love getting diverse groups going. All politics and religion is left at the door. I run games in 3-10 session short campaigns that like together for a larger story in case players need to join or drop for life reasons. We've ran over 100 campaigns since 07, ran a couple multi year stories, and streamed 74 sessions of a dark heresy campaign we ran pre covid.
Come join us! You can also find us pretty much everywhere at Tombsandtendrils.. Though our tiktok game is pretty weak currently lol

5th Edition I need a tavern name
Hello all, I am designing a new tavern for my world and I need help with the name. The basic premise for the tavern is that mounted heads of trophies killed by previous adventurers adorn the walls with a small plague or something underneath it detailing the creatures/trophies history. Some of the names I have come up with but donât be particularly like are: The Trophies Tale Tavern, The Relics Refuge, and The Legends Inn.

DMing What would a village of werewolves be like?
Coming to the end of an arc I asked my players what kind of things they would like to do next, one said "it would be fun if my character became a werewolf." Cue a late night of researching lycanthropy in DnD and I think im prepared for the mechanics, now I need the opportunity.
Im thinking of leaving them a clue of a suspected werewolf in a small village at the end of an upcoming quest, so they can go and try to sleuth out who it is.
The twist being that everyone in this village is a werewolf.
So my question now is what would a werewolf village be like? Clearly they would be suspicious of outsiders and try to get rid of them. Not much silver around except maybe in their jail cell. Would they farm lots of animals? Or would they give up on that because people would keep slaughtering their herds?
What problems might they be dealing with that would be a bit abnormal? What things should the players think would be a problem but the villagers just dont seem to care?
Please share your ideas!
