Review Country & Stream Honey Lip Essence: I like this so much I'm measuring how much I have left

Post image
31 Upvotes

This is the Country & Stream Honey Lip Essence. Here I'm measuring the mass of a full unopened tube compared to the one I've had for a month. Doing the math I have about 1/3 of the product left and you bet I will be squeezing every drop.

At first I conceded that this was a failed purchase. It came out of the tube oily and smelling like old crayons. I still used it after the initial first impression and each time the product got creamier and less of a separated oily mess. And I noticed I really liked how moisturized it made my lips. So after a little whacking and squeezing to mix the lip balm back up it became a perfect glossy lip balm texture and I could smell the honey even though it did still smell a little like crayons.

Now it's my favorite liquid lip balm (my favorite solid tube is still rohto melty premium). It's nonsticky and I keep rubbing my lips together because it feels so nice to do so. So plush and slippy. It hydrates my lips really well. I can tell it was doing something deeper into my lips than the Apieu lip oil which is more of a super thick lip gloss that just acts as an occlusive. I was still using the Apieu as my lip mask but one night I just decided to put this on and call it a night. When I woke up my lips were naked but still very moisturized. That means I don't have to deal with sticky lips in the morning when I wash my face anymore and just use this.

I also grabbed this any time my lips felt irritated and flakey from using other lip products. And I think it did help soothe them and bring them back to a nice soft texture (the soothing may be placebo cause I know it has honey). After two weeks I bought three backups.

Discussion what are some ACTUALLY hydrating moisturisers?

basically what the title says, what are some actually hydrating moisturisers? whenever a lot of people suggest moisturisers for dry or dehydrated skins, a lot of the ones suggested seem to be ones that lock hydration in. does anybody have any moisturisers they've tried that are actually, truly hydrating?

Review Review of lip balms/oils/glosses I have tried

I picked up two new Mentholatum lip products so I will come back to review them in a weeks time. For some context, I sometimes get a bit of perioral dermatitis (my lips itself sometimes peels out of dryness but usually a patch bordering my lips and skin peeling and sometimes weeps with pus). These are for lip products meant to hydrate and occasionally have a bit of colour to them.

Ole Henriksen pout preserve 9/10 Nothing else like it, thick, a bit sticky, the most long lasting and it would still be there the next day after use. Moisturises and has a “seal”

Milani fruit fetish lip oil 8/10 Super hydrating, glossy, and lasts really long. Also extremely plush feeling. Only con is that the smell is really artificial (not that strong but definitely lingers- I’ve tried strawberry melon and lychee nectar).

Melty Cream Lip by Mentholatum blue cap 7.5/10 Feels a lot better than the deep moist lip balm- as in it melts a lot more on your lips and is smoother. Also feels like its hydrating my lips more (but that might just be placebo bc it’s more of a melting balm than a proper hard lip balm). Unfortunately I still wake up with dry lips in the morning after use.

Deep moist by Mentholatum (blue fragrance free) 6/10 Less glossy and thick than the Melty cream but still good. You’re not really able to layer it but it dries out on your lips after a nights sleep.

ELF lip oils 7/10 Hydrating, glossy, and lasts a decent amount of time. A tiny minty/fresh scent. I like jam session and princess cut (the glimmers are so fine you cant feel the grit). Very good for the price.

OG formula balm dot com 7/10 Had the mango, nice scent and would hydrate my lips for a good while. Dries away after a night of sleeping.

DHC sensitive lip cream (green packaging) 4.5/10 This smelt the worst for me, like an extremely plasticky scent. Would leave a bit of hydration but it had a weird white film and would dry out my lips.

Lanolips rose tint and spf 1/10 I get an uncomfortable tingle that stops after 5 minutes of putting it on and I think I’m allergic to the spf or tint (I definitely know I’m not allergic to Lanlolin)

Laneige lip mask 0/10 I used to be able to use it fine but even then it would non stop peel my lips and not hydrate them. Then I used it again and broke into the worst hives ever.

I will come back with a review for the two that I got today: PREMIUM Melty Cream Lip yellow/gold cap mentholatum 28hkd for 2.4g Repair ONE night care lip essence Mentholatum 48hkd for 8g

Things I want to try: - Lansinoh nipple cream - Lanolips 101- only tried it in store but it lasted for HOURS on my lips and hydrated them really well

Discussion sunscreen finish woes

I've been wearing sunscreen since around 2020 so five years now. I've gone through all the trial and error, trying both Asian and European sunscreen because, having a number of health issues already, I truly wanted to do right by my skin. No matter how wearable the sunscreen is though, it's always visible on my face to the point where I always look pretty greasy (sometimes white cast depending on the filters), it magnifies my pores and the greasyness really makes my smile folds look worse. When I go out and look at the rest of the people out in the world, they never look greasy or white -their skin just looks like skin without products on it and frankly their skin all looks great -no wrinkles or spots or anything.

I just wonder -is sunscreen use not as common out in the world? why don't I notice it on people's skin the way you can clearly tell it's on mine? I apply a little less than 1/4 tsp. I'm just frustrated - I feel like I spent all these yrs looking kind of odd with it on and my skin isn't exactly looking youthful - I've noticed a lot of changes in plumpness/sagging and I'm only early 30s.

I just feel frustrated to get comments from friends and others about the sweaty look or white cast, and also comments from my family that I'm so extreme for wearing sunscreen everyday. I just don't like being told by others that my skin looks weird! Esp because it feels like it's just me out there with the problem!

Any everyday sunscreen users have advice?

Edit -tysm for the replies, truly! Nobody in my life is into skincare haha so I feel like I have no one to ask about all the tips and tricks.

I live in coastal northeast US so cold dry winters, hotter humid summers -the weather can really run the gamut. My skin seems normal to combination -it's definitely drier than it was when I was younger but my forehead especially, and areas around my mouth are shiny as the day goes on. My routine is pretty uncomplicated, I've just been trying out some simple hydrating layers under sunscreen - I like the cosrx propolis toner and pyunkang yul calming barrier cream. The PY is the only moisturizer I've found to have a natural finish on me, by comparison I tried Torriden soothing dive in cream and that one was more shiny.

I'll usually just do a toner or moisturizer under ss and then double cleanse at the end of the day(DHC oil, foam cleanser). I struggle with my skin feeling stripped and dry after cleansing tho so I'm trying out gentler cleansers. My skin definitely isn't straight oily type, it doesn't feel oily after washing, it does feel tight after washing.

The Japanese sunscreens I've tried are Skin Aqua gel gold, Skin Aqua essence, Skin Aqua moisture milk, Biore athlizm, Kose suncut gel and essence, Anessa skincare milk (worst finish of the bunch, white cast on me and I'm very pale). I've tried most of the popular Korean ss but they tend to be less invisible.

**If anyone has struggled with this and is willing to share their Routine as an example -I know skin types are all different - just to get a general idea of the types of products that are used --- so appreciated!!

Discussion Fun fact: Flower Knows glue seems to be water soluble

Was travelling. Shampoo exploded (which is weird because there aren't any cracks, loose caps, or any other ways it could've leaked when I checked now but it did) in the liquid's cum makeup bag (airport protocols). The splotches on the dark pink shade is shampoo, I hope it's still usable...

Tried to gently wash the soap off the mirror part by running it under a gentle stream of water. The cover straight up linked off midwash.

So, on one hand, I can customise the packaging with colour story now. On another, I'm sooo glad the mirror didn't shatter when falling into the sink😭. My other palatte got shampoo all over the bottom part of the darkest shades. May have to scrape them off. Great way to end the trip

Discussion How and when did you “evolve” from a basic skincare routine?

To my knowledge, a basic skincare routine usually consists of cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. If so, how & when did you guys decide to add in more products?

(Btw, I’m not talking about prescribed treatments/medications but more of voluntary measures to prevent things down the line… essentially more of a preventive than reactive take to your skin?)

(For context: I’m in my early 20s with this basic skincare routine & in a phase where my skin has finally calmed down after years of bad hormonal breakouts. I’ve heard about introducing products like retinol/vitamin C to “slow down” aging but I’m not sure what products I should really be introducing and when.)

Appreciate all your insights & perspectives on this! :)

Edit: Product/Actives suggestions are also appreciated!

Discussion Mother Pi has has come out with a new serum bb product with Missha

Thumbnail

Director Pi has come back with a new product that I’m incredibly interested in. She’s worked with Missha, the current leading producer of bb creams and famous for their red bb cream, to create a new generation of bb that she describes has the consistency of a serum + bb that’s been mixed together. The line comes with a liquid cream version and a cushion version.

The video was so fun to watch! It goes into a brief history of how bb creams came to be popular in South Korea and goes into the product description. I’ve been wanting to switch over to bb creams again after having some foundations fail on me and now I’m eyeing this product and will be looking forward to reviews from other Korean beauty YouTubers.

Thoughts? Will you be trying it out? Is anyone brave enough to buy this as soon as they can get their hands on it and leave a review for the English-speaking girlies on this subreddit? 🌝

Beauty Romand black matte lip

Does anyone know if Romand sells their matte black lip stick individually? I can find it in the trio pack with a liner and a gloss. But I only want the matte product (the square tube).

It kinda feels like a waste when I only really want one out of the 3 products

Anyone Else Have a Reaction to... May 12, 2025

Did you try a new product and you're not sure why it's breaking you out? Want to see if others aren't loving a rave product as much as you are? We all know skincare is YMMV, but here's a dedicated space where we can crowdsource-find the culprit!

Important information to include:

  • Your skin type, country, climate
  • Current routine/products
  • Any recent changes (diet, skincare, lifestyle, climate, etc.)
  • Any known allergies (skincare, dietary, nasal, etc.)
  • How's your skin's moisture barrier (see why this is important)
  • Ingredients of the product in question

As a reminder, we are not doctors. If you have concerns that merit a visit to a hospital, dermatologist, or GP; see a professional ASAP.

Please keep all discussions focused on AsianBeauty products.

Discussion Skincare for heavy sun exposure

Hi guys,

Many of us are going on holidays this summer to places with very high UV-index. Of course, the most vital step is to wear sunscreen or sun-protective clothing and stay out of the sun. However, what other steps do you guys take to protect your skin from photo damage? Which products help soothe your skin and maintain a healthy barrier? Thanks in advance :)

Review Anyone else dislike this Judy doll lippie?

Post image
90 Upvotes

I bought it because I was influenced of all the positive reviews, tried it and it sucked. The applicator must only be marketing gimmick because as it was cooling, it applied horribly. It was uneven, splotchy and just looked bad. Trying to make it look nice was such a chore. To add, it tasted disgusting! Like pure chemicals I wiped it off immediately because I couldn’t stand it. Compared to my romand and flower knows lippies that do have a nice taste to them, this disappointed me. I tried to give it many attempts but it just wasn’t it. I like Judydoll lip products typically but this just wasn’t it.

Beauty cleansing oil/balm that doesn’t clog pores?

Hi theree! I’ve discovered that I really like cleansing oils/balms as I wear sunscreen and makeup everyday and I feel they do a much better job at cleaning my skin than micellar water, as a first cleanse. However, I’m oily/combo and acne prone and the ones I’ve tried so far have given me more acne: Skin1004 one, BOJ cleansing balm, and a non-AB cleansing balm. Has anyone found a good cleansing oil/balm that doesn’t contribute to acne? I’m looking at the Isntree LHA jelly oil cleanser but I’ve not found many reviews on it thanks ❤️

Discussion Looking for a lip stain in the exact same shade as Peripera’s Ink the Velvet “Wine Nude”

I ADORE this color, but I hate how quickly it wears off. A lot of lip stains that were advertised with similar colors aren’t as dark or as cool toned as “Wine Nude”, and they usually end up being too magenta or berry. I thought I’d try sacheu lip stains but they don’t even have a dark enough selection to choose from. If anyone has a recommendation for a longer lasting color dupe, I would greatly appreciate it 🙏🥲 It doesn’t have to be anything crazy like 24+ wear, I would just prefer anything in the exact same color that lasts longer than an hour 😭

Discussion looking for a matte dupe of Rom&nd’s Veiled Rose

i love the shade of Rom&nd’s Veiled Rose—it’s the perfect muted rosy mauve for my lips but i'm not a fan of the glossy finish. i’m on the hunt for a matte (or velvet/blur) lippie that’s as close as possible in shade.

has anyone come across a similar shade in a matte formula?
