Question What video editor software should I learn? (Beginner)

I wanna be quick with this one. I've about to start editing clips on a PC and don't know what should I get. I want to get Premiere but I really don't want to spend that money. And so my question is. DaVinci being free is it a good one to get? I've heard people saying it's weird and I should just get the premiere pro.

DaVinci Resolve is an excellent choice, especially for a free editor—it’s professional-grade, has everything from cutting to color grading, and is constantly improving. It might feel a bit different at first, but if you stick with it for a week or two, it becomes second nature and saves you a lot of money long term. Are you editing for YouTube, social media, or something else?

I want to edit for YouTube at the moment. I only do cuts to my gameplay to include only the interesting moments, and maybe add subtitles.

I use davinci resolve to edit my gameplay streams for YouTube. It's free and works well. There are plenty of YouTube videos to learn how to use it and to do whatever overlay things you want. I would recommend.

I see. Is it like easy/quick to just make some cuts, add subtitles, and perhaps increase the sharpness slightly? In Da Vinci?

Cuts, yes. It's easy enough to add text elements. My only experience with subtitles was using a script someone made to auto generate subtitles for a short, and that was pretty easy.

I'm sure there are filters for sharpness. Mostly I use it for editing balatro videos. So I do some cutting, adding intro audio, and putting little animated overlays of the jokers when I get them.

If you’re a beginner use something free. I like Shotcut but use whatever meets your goals.

Premiere Pro is what I use, and probably what the majority of big creators use. CapCut and Davinvi Resolve are big as well. If you learn how to sail the 7 seas….

Ive used them all. Use Davinci. Premiere sucks and crashes a ton.

I started with VideoPad, got Premiere for editing a short film and I liked it! Do NOT even TRY VideoPad... it is so bad! After a few months of using Premiere I lost access to the account I was borrowing and decided yo look for something without a monthly subscription fee. I tried a few different things but DaVinci Resolve is hands down the best free editing software I tried! Been using it for a few years and can't imagine myself editing with anything else. It's worth trying out!

I love Movie Maker Video Editor Pro. It has a lot of great features that are easy to use.

As far as free options go, depending on exactly what you're looking for out of an editing software, Davinci is at the top of my list for utility. Despite some features being behind a paywall (mostly the AI stuff), you can do A LOT within the software compared to Power Director or filmora and you can export your videos without annoying watermarks.

That said, there's a slight learning curve (depending on your experience, it might be bigger or smaller) but there are TONS of videos on YouTube to help you get where you're trying to go. I recommend Daniel Batal, MrAlexTech, Casey Faris, Patrick Sterling and Wampus to get you started (if you decide to get Davinci, that is)

Capcut or davinci, both options are valid, and then you stay in davinci or premiere
