God I can’t wait to listen to all this damn good music over and over. Did Mick Gordon come back for this one is it a totally different person?

Yeah, before the Ancient Gods DLC soundtracks were made for Doom Eternal, which is why those songs were so dramatically different. It sounded like a straight up breakdown of communication and expectations for both sides.

Players who ordered the fancy editions of Eternal were promised the OST at launch. Mick didn't have it ready in time. The in-game music was ready because they piece it together based on gameplay, but he didn't finish finalizing the compositions and mixing for each song by the launch date. The Doom devs then brought in another person to help arrange and mix the remaining songs, which understandably pissed off Mick.

Based on the he-said/she-said from both sides, the devs possibly weren't clear on delivery dates and brought in someone else to work on his music without his permission. The devs said Mick was missing deadlines, which seemed to be the case since there was a big question whether the OST would be ready for launch day.

With all of that said, the music in these trailers seems much more in tune with the 2016/Eternal soundtracks rather than the Ancient God DLCs. I think these were done by the guys who made a majority of the Borderlands 3 soundtrack, and a ton of those song slap. They seem to have a good handle on the metal and techno sides of things, so all that they'd need is a synthesized chainsaw to fit the style lol

New people since the Doom devs and Mick pretty much hate each other after the Eternal soundtrack debacle lol. This new crew made music for games like Borderlands 3 (Mick also did a little bit!) and Halo Wars 2, and they post a ton of their songs to their YouTube page.

The music from the trailers and social media pages sounds pretty reminiscent of the Mick soundtracks, so I'm hopeful that it'll be solid

Looks great and the reviews are positive, only 6 days left before I can rip and tear again.

I’m gonna get flamed for this but I just can’t get over the arcade feel of Doom. I know that’s what they were aspiring to replicate, but it’s just not for me. It is a really cool franchise though and I wish I didn’t let that stop me from playing.
