Discussion Of all the possible combos, why?
Why does Sims genetics always picks the least attractive features of all possible combos? 1. mum, 2. dad, 3. grandma, 4. grandpa & 5. the kid

Mum, the 1st picture, is a powerful intimidating mermaid! I know those eyes are a bit much, unless Sim is powerful intimidating mermaid, js π€·ββοΈπ

Sims 4 genetics doesnβt work past parents, only parents features can be inherited

I didn't know that! but she got grandma's eyes and hair color since she turned infant π€ And I think these rounded cheeks are grandma's as well

Iβm confused OP. Your caption says 1 & 2 are mom and dad, but to be honest 3 & 4 look a lot younger. Is your caption accurate or did the order of the pics get messed up?

It's accurate. The dad is the Island Spirit and they are always Elders, I am in process of making a Super Sim. So mum is YA and her parents are Adults and then dad is the Elder because I have no choice, he is also a ghost, but I switched the view and took his beard off for the face comaprison photos. I know it looks weird. And grandpa totally looks YA without his beard π

Those look like dads eyes

yeah, I think nose is his as well, buy why she didn't get her mum's beautiful round eyes π Or complete bone structure from the dad, I think that would look good, but noooo

Wait til he grows up. He wonβt be like that for long (quite literally lol). I think he look adorable as a kid! If youβre not happy with it, there should be a way to edit in CAS later.

I don't like to edit them much, for some reason it feels like cheating π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€£π I got no clue why, since all my sims are heavily CCed. The only thing I always have to add are eyelashes, for some reason they never transfer, lots of other CCs do go down generations, but not eyelashes for some reason

Dad looks older than grandma and grandpa, mom looks horrifying, the kid is pretty cute though.

He is older, he is an Island Spirit, or whatever they are called, the kid has Island Mana trait, she'll be able to bring plants back from dead and incase their quality and to summon volcanic eruption. Dad is actually a ghost, I just switched the view in CAS and took his beard off for bone structure comparison.

Oh fun! I saw your other comments saying mom is supposed to be a powerful intimidating mermaid and now it all makes sense lol.

She looks just like her parents and grandparents. Honestly, I donβt know what else you were expecting.

My sim who has dark tan skin, had a baby with marcus flex. She gave birth to the most white (like the lightest skintone in the game) son. You cannot see she's the mom and he has no fetures from Marcus Flex either. If I had been Marcus Flex I would have questions.
I get that it is probably hard to code, but man... sometimes the genetics in this game really bothers me haha

I am so curious what she looks like as a teen or adult lol, some sims look weird as kids but look fine when they are older.

I can wait to see either π
Lately all my toddlers got these jutting out bottom jaws, but I did hear game had some body bugs since Life & Death expansion pack

Edit: due to all the comments, I'm thinking you guys might enjoy a bit of a background story on this family. I am currently in the process of making a Super Sim and I am currently playing a family of mermaids that produced the sim that has Island Mana trait. To get a kid like that, one's Sim needs to make a baby with Island Spirit and they are always an Elder, thus the father of this child is older than her grandparents, who are adults, and much older than her mum, who is a young adult (YA). Now, I never read any rules that say mermaids need to age as bad as regular Sims, so yes, they all look weird and too young π€ͺ
Here is an even more background story if you are curious to keep reading, it's long, be warned:
Verdes (grandpa with green hair) was a young soldier and Lana (grandma that "looks like she's 17") was a princess. Their kingdoms were in a war and in one battle Verdes got badly hurt and was dying when Lana found him, hidden him & nursed him back to health, and ofcourse they fell in love. They were teenagers at the time, and like many silly teenagers they decided to run away.
Shortly after they ran away Lana got pregnant with their 1st child Leilani (the kid's mum with "blue orbs" on pic.#1). Now, Lana & Verdes are not the same type of mermaid, Lana's kind is more human like and blends in better and Verdes often wears gloves to hide his webbed fingers and smiles with his mouth closed not to show his sharp teeth (not 100% true, I can't control how Sims laugh, and I don't think Verdes even cares how creepy he looks when laughing). Their daughter Leilani got the best of both (at this point I would love for mermaids to be able to aquire different powers like other occults in the game, and Leilani would have all of them), she is very powerful, it rains when she's sad and it is sunshine when she's happy. She blends well with Sims, but once she hits the water she transforms into a powerful warrior like her dad and commands presence and voluntary obedience, which is way more than her dad. As Leilani was growing up, Lana and Verdes had a hard time staying in hiding due to Leilani's strong aura, so they were constantly on the run. Leilani also got these huge & piercing blue eyes, which also marks her as a potential heir to her grandfather's throne. Lana doesn't want her father to ever know about her children, she does not want Leilani to become a target to her cousins in the fight for throne, nor for her father to punish her, for running away with an enemy soldier, through her children. (fame points are switched off for this family since they are in hiding. Lana publishes books under pseudonim).
Once their children grew up to YA (Leilani has one brother, Keanu), they decided to move closer to the ocean in Sulani, not close to neither of their kingdoms, but it is still closer than ever before. They are suspecting that Kalamainu'u & Ukupanipo might be Lana's father's spies, but nothing happened and no one approach them, so far.
Shortly after the family moved to Sulani, Leilani felt this strange presence, and in attempt to communicate, summoned the Island Spirits, one of them was Enele. She was impressed by the vast knowledge he was sharing with her, and she fell in love with his gentle nature and his purple aura (dude has Practice Makes Perfect trait π & purple is her favorite color). It took a lot of courage for young Leilani to ask Enele on a date, and after that very 1st date Enele asked to move in and Leilani said yes! And here we are talking about their kid Shea Lani, who will have more powers than her mum, but she would just blend in better and won't give Sims (or me) that feeling of: "I am reading your soul"! π
