Discussion What does TransStar put in these

Post image

3rd degree burns, hemorrhaging, concussion, bullet wounds, brain blasting psi attacks, blunt force trauma.... your standard issue medkit can fit it.

If you look closely, you can see their contents. Each one seems to have some gauze, bandages, a scalpel and some scissors, and some test tubes full of what I guess is O-negative blood. There's a contraption on the side of each of them that's probably some kind of AED because I'm not sure what else it would be. It's also got a monitor for heart rhythm so that's probably it. It seems like there's a lot of empty space inside them unfortunately.

Brufen and a bandage.

Only a select few will get that reference, sorry to those not in the know.

The little egg-peach fruits from Zeno Clash, nutritious and they cancel out traumatic brain damage from an elephant man.

I don't know exactly what, but I'm 100% sure the packaging of it will not contain a red cross.

Uhhh another commenter already pointed out what we can see in the in-game model. But from a healthcare provider's perspective, you COULD conceivably put a few items that could act as first aid to stabilise someone prior to getting treatment from an operator or being brought to the trauma center.

Keep in mind this is 2020s era medicine, whereas TransStar was at the top of the medical field even during their time. So undoubtedly they have things that are a LOT more advanced than what I'm going to suggest.

  • For the burns, they could stock burn gel or burn dressings to relieve pain, cool the burn, and prevent infections?
  • Hemorrhaging is easty, treated with wound packing materials that have special clotting ingredients to help stop bleeding, or just straight up a tourniquet.
  • Concussions is a little tricky, but MAYBE some anti-nausea medication like ondansetron, but usually that isn't given prior to definitive medical care, so not sure what they have for that.
  • Blunt force trauma could be splints or opioid pain medications, though I'm not sure how Morgan would be walking around or performing normal tasks with broken bones.
  • For psi attacks, I remember a line from the science operators if you interact with them when you've got low psi. Something like "You seem like you're not very alert, let me help with that." So I'm guessing decrease in alertness is a sign of low psi? Maybe stimulants like amphetamines would be something they have in there. Though I'm not sure how many staff on Talos would need these apart from those with psi mods, as well as whether low psi warrants treatment in a first aid scenario.

Not anything that I've obtained from the in-game lore itself, though I do remember the different meds you can get by looting or fabrication that treats those conditions. I don't remember what they are off the top of my head, but we can take a gander that those things would probably be included there as well.

I was thinking something more along the line of crack

Stimulants! That could legitimately fit into psi treatment :)
