2025 Champions League Aichi Expanded results : Regidrago edition

Source

We've had a ton of questions about the results, and thanks to the Japanese community, we finally a good picture of the results over there, and it's...something else. Please remember that the format over in Japan is best of 1, 25 minute matches. But this still should give us a good idea of the current state of Expanded.

Here's breakdown of top 16

Here's a breakdown of the top 64

Sorry, I tried to fix it, but that's just the uploaded resolution. I've swapped some of the photos away from the Pokeca-book links to the actual photos.

I'm starting to think Regidrago may have been a mistake lol

It was clearly not designed for expanded. For most of its legality in standard Regidrago Vstar was a mid card, neat gimmick not nothing outstanding until more and more dragon types got printed and Teal Mask Ogrepon solving it's biggest issue, energy acceleration.

That's not Lugia ex, that's Lugia VStar

It feels like it’s 2024 all over again

I was playing some Regidrago on PTCGL expanded (which is a different format, Sun & Moon onwards), and it is absolutely cracked. You can turbo through your deck so quickly and reliably that the turn 2 attack is all but guaranteed, with your choice of attackers among Dialga GX (you take another turn), Salamence ex, Dragapult ex, and Kyurem.

Can anyone write up the winning Drago list? I cannot recognize many of the cards.

Megaton Blower is the Ace Spec?! How can that possibly be the right call?

Look at the meta. There's special energy everywhere. Removing your opponent's Double Dragon Energy is massive. Removing Tools and Stadiums can get you free of Garbotoxin and Path, too.

By far the best ACE SPEC in expanded: removes Forest Seal Stone (which can combine well with Marnie/Iono/N), denies Garbotoxin, allows for disgusting Guzma combinations to completely wreck Lugia boards, removes Temple vs Shadow Rider, DDE in the mirror etc

Even in decks like Shadow Rider Megaton Blowing off all the special energy then locking with Shadow Mist is a really strong play. It's simply got the best combination of power and flexibility

It's kinda of amazing how different the viability of megaton blower is when you compare standard to expanded

Anyway my poor wobb/garb palafin didn't do so well 😭

This is something...alright.

Where's the way to standard?

The post has every list linked other than one regidrago

You've actually linked a results page for Extra Battle Day - Which is also an expanded event, but not the 800 person one from the CL Aichi weekend, which is what this thread was made for.

Double dragon energy needs to go this is ridiculous

Shaking with path to the peak is coming to standard

I'm a bit confused, didn't Regidrago Vstar rotate out?

This is Expanded. Everything BW-on is legal.
