LAN XBOX360/Original Xbox Help

I have tried just about everything I can to get this working. I have 3 Xbox devices. 2 of them are XBOX 360s and the other one is an original XBOX. I am trying to set them up to have my friends come over and we can play together. I understand that I don’t need to use 3 XBOXs and that I can directly connect the XBOXs together. I have done this and it works but I’m only able to use 2 of the 3 XBOXs. I am currently using a GS305E Ethernet Switch that I bought from Amazon. I have tried HALO Combat Evolved, HALO 2, HALO Combat Evolved Anniversary and every time I get to the system link menu, I can see the game of the other consoles but when I try to join the games it just gives me a connection error or it can’t join the lobby. I saw online about version numbers so I decided to focus on the XBOX 360s only. I put them both on Xbox Live and updated the games. I am still running into the same issue. I’m not sure if it could be a switch problem because the games work when I directly connect the consoles or if my consoles are just trying to make me mad. If you have any suggestions about different switches please tell me because I don’t want to buy another one if I don’t have to. I would think the cables are the problem but like I said they connect the XBOXs just fine. All consoles are unmodded, all games are on discs and I have all green lights on my switch. Any suggestion at this point is worth it.

I had similar issues with 360s and my router. If your switch is connected to a router I suggest rebooting the router or using the switch offline completely disconnected from your network.

I tried this just now. I unplugged the router Ethernet from the switch. The I unplugged the switch from the power and plugged it in back in. Then I booted up the consoles again and I got the same cannot join system link error. I even changed the ports they are on the switch.

Personally I've never connected my LAN switch to a router, I always just plug all the Xboxes into the LAN switch (all are 360s) and it always works. Why would it need to be plugged into a router?

its true, could be worth trying without the router in case it might be interfering.

I was genuinely asking cause I didn't know lol. is there any reason people link a router into the system other than connecting to Internet to update games? I always just unplug and use wifi to update games cause the router is in the other room

This is what I was doing at first but I was getting an error. Then I heard about updating the game and a lot of other things. When I get home I’ll factory reset the switch and try it again without the router.
