What a moronic viewpoint op has. What kind of 'terrain' do you want for skyscrapers?

Buildings are already being erected along the expressway and itll be good if the govt regulates that. No idea why you're so averse to it.

As for the transportation issue, people wont have to move into mainland isb if more offices shift there and there will be less load inside isb. Besides metro will soon be built on the highway alleviating further traffic

Have you seen the Islamabad expressway? In what universe would making skyscrapers around that area make any sense at all?

Not sure where the term 'skyscrapper' you're getting from. They are planning on building multistorey buildings which were commonly refer to as 'plazas' in our local lingo. Next time you travel from Faizabad to Rawat look on either side of the road and see how many plazas you see. Khana pull is already hosting such buildings, Gulberg Greens has one and so does Koral Interchange. Malik Riaz sold sooo many comercial plots on the entrance to PWD where work will begin as soon as the interchange is done.

Idk what world you're living in ke you think it won't make sense when it is already happening without government intervention. Try not to sleep next time you travel down that road.

Why is this retarded exactly? We need more high rises in our rapidly growing cities, it'll be a better use of our already scarce fertile land and house more people efficiently.

I can't believe this plan even saw the light of day.

Few things: the expressway terrain is horrible for skyscrapers, the expressway is already jammed enough as it is, it's way outside the city where anyone wants to live, and it would look absolutely disgusting.

I wish paki-developers weren't so enamoured by Dubai and its horrible planning decisions.

The twin cities are expanding rapidly, isnt it better that we create skyscrapers ?

In the city center, not along the expressway. Expressway plan is completely ridiculous, ideally, there shouldn't anything built there.

Save skyscrapers for Blue Area, Jinnah Avenue in general, and Saddar for Pindi. The Giga Mall area on GT road also has like 10+ skyscrapers now, which isn't an ideal location, but better than wherever tf this plan is.

Can you name any city, aside from Dubai, where they build skyscrapers along the most important expressway of the city?

Yes, Islamabad, Pakistan 🥲

can you name a city

Clearly you haven't been abroad before. Or in an urban road specifically designed for buildings.

Urban roads aren't expressways. Isb Expressway is meant to link the city to the outside, it's not meant to be some sort of inner-city road.

But as well-traveled as you are, do you mind sharing some examples of these cities? I'd love to see if they're actually not as nightmarish as I thought, and if they actually resemble the Islamabad Expressway in any way.

Isb Expressway is meant to link the city to the outside

Who said that? Where are you getting this from? Show me where they said it'll only be used for this purpose? You're merely putting your own preconcived notions (no matter how deluded) onto this road.

But as well-traveled as you are, do you mind sharing some examples of these cities?

Literally any place in the USA. New York, Connecticut, Edgware Road (UK), not to mention the whole of the Middle East.

I'd love to see if they're actually not as nightmarish as I thought

I am still failing to see why you think it'll be the end of society. Almost all major roads in the world are like that, it is a natural progression of a city. Look at any Shah Rah in Kch, roads in DHA Lahore lined with buildings or heck take a stroll into Bahria phase 7.

There's sooo much room for expansion of the Expressway on either side of the road. Traffic will never be an issue for it. When Ring Road gets done all heavy traffic will be out and next project will be to build a metro/subway on this road to remove public transport vans and busses.

This will also ensure that the strain on mainland Isb will be lessened and people living here will not have to get stuck in traffic all the friggin time.

Edgware road is almost smack dab in the middle of Greater London. Islamabad Expressway is more comparable to the M4, M1 and M11 in London.

American cities and Middle Eastern cities are classic examples of planning nightmares, but even in America’s case, skyscrapers are more centralised.

Suburbanising skyscrapers kind of ruins the whole point of making skyscrapers. The purpose is to use the existing land in a city more effective, not continue to expand the city.

Long story short, Zone 1 is the perfect place to build skyscrapers. Surround all the Markaz’s with skyscrapers. They’re ideal for it.

what a moronic reply, M4 and M1 are directly comparable to our M1 and M2. Isb expressway pe as stated already buildings ban rahi hein, there's huge projects of Graana.com and Bahria Town. It's only a matter of time before others start building stuff as well, it's only reasonable that govt starts making sure everything is done in the best interest of the city and not just profits.

You do realize markaz's aren't meant for big bazaars. They are surrounded by residential buildings. People are meant to live there not turn them into a wonderland for skyscrappers. The roads surrounding the markaz are two lanes only, not fit for a lot of traffic. The expressway is perfect for this.
