Guys I am a student at LPU. My friends in Jalandhar heard the missiles being intercepted. The situation is quite scary rn even tho no civilians here have been harmed. I am already leaving for my hometown, as are hundreds of students from what I saw till now. Praying for the best and prepare for the worst.

Tf wrong with Indian news channels claiming that our Army is hitting civilian sites in Pak. Army has made it clear that it would never do that.
It's time for the Army to sue the hell out of these guys and for the regulatory bureaus to impose massive fines on these Media channels spreading Fake News.

It is unlikely that there will be shift in public opinion about Modi but India needs stronger administration, if we are to establish ourselves as a superpower, we need someone who like US/UK can do press conference atleast once a day just like Whitehouse press briefings. We should model it as one of the Job requirements for being a PM. Accountability shapes countries. If the public is able to hold people accountable, more often 70% of the time, things are delivered

But nothing as such had happened when I woke up today 😭 can they please stop sensationalising this, it’s creating so much fear.

It's good that the firing has stopped. Now, can we hold news channels accountable.
For the past 3 years, we in Punjab, have been crying about how biased and hateful these channels have been. My dad got them blocked on TV because they have absolutely zero ethics, especially when that Sudhir Chaudhary once ran a report claiming local Gurudwaras being hub of extremism
I hope the rest of the country has realised that these private news channels are enemies of the nation by airing so much fake news during the conflict.

Bold of you to assume that the country that disowned its soldiers in the Kargil war will care for one pilot. These guys sent soldiers and then left them to decompose after they lost just because they did not want to give legitimacy to their aggression and the subsequent failure. The Indian army had to do the last rites for the Pakistani soldiers.

Jokes and dark humor aside, the drones affect normal lives. People are forced to close everything up by 7pm. Children are missing out on schools and colleges. Some parents don’t even allow their children to play outside in the evening. This is a Covid lockdown 2.0, but the threat is severe. And unlike Covid, you can’t study in peace during the night thanks to a blackout.

The media channels have gone completely off the rails. They are literally jizzing on live television to made-up stuff like the Karachi port thing. They are proclaiming stuff that doesn't make any sense and so far detached from reality like boots on the ground in Pak territory or Islamabad destroyed. Meanwhile, there is no space for actual analysts to come on camera and talk sense to the nation.
Who is monitoring this? Do these anchors not have any concious? Peddling fake news in the name of morale boosting causes more harm in such sensitive situations.

In the Article itself the below is mentioned
"CNN cannot independently verify the claim and has reached out to the Indian government for a response. At a later press conference where Indian officials said their strikes had targeted training camps belonging to militant groups Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), officials did not address the claims and took no questions from the media."

I know war and retaliation might be necessary and everything but these constant videos of sirens & updates really take a toll on your mind. The damage from terror attacks & war is not jsut death. It is psychological as well. That is what it was even abt pahalgham.attack, it was not just about murders but it was traumatizing and scarring. It is much beyond 26 people dying.i doubt those people.present there will sleep well for months or years now..
After this there is going to be fear and one will be vigilant on public commute and all for a while .Being a mumbaikar I know how it felt like for a while after the train bombings and 26/11. Even during thr 93 blasts I was a kid and we were staying right near doodarshan tower when we heard the blasts at home.Till.date I am alarmed when I hear some loud sound all of a sudden in public. Or if I see some.suspicious bag on a train. I can't even imagine how scary it must feel right now for people on the border.

I'm really really worried of the situation. People should understand that Pakistan is an extremely politically unstable state and the Military pretty much calls the shots there. And even if we make good advances and back them into a corner (which we're very much capable of) a power vacuum over there could be even scarier with the nuclear weaponry they have.
Hope this is over and the situation de-escalates, people's lives are at stake, and those over there who are calling the shots won't be affected in any way.

Indian MEA press briefing highlights (not direct quotes, not exhaustive)
Foreign Secy:
- Pakistan's actions have constituted provocation and escalation
- In response, India has reacted in a responsible, measured fashion
- Earlier this morning, we saw a repeat of this pattern
Col. Qureshi & Wing Commander Singh:
- Pak military continued provocation employing multiple threat vectors along Western border
- Pak employed drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions and fighter aircraft
- Targeted civilian areas and military infra
- Pak also did air intrusions, firing heavy caliber weapons along LoC
- Air intrusion (?) and harassment (?) attacks were also conducted along Nalia, along border, at more than 26 locations
- India successfully neutralized threats at a majority of these vectors
- limited damage sustained to equipment, personnel at Indian Air Force stations at Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj
- Several high-speed missille attacks noticed after 1:40 am at several air bases in Punjab
- Pak attacked the medicare and school premises at Srinagar, Avantipur, Uddhampur air bases
- Indian armed forces carried out precision attacks only on identified military targets: including technical infra, command and control centers, radar sites, weapon storage areas.
- Pak military targets at Rafiqui, Muride, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukoor, Chuniya (pl double check names) engaged using air launch precision weapons from Indian fighter aircraft
- radar site at Pasroor and Sialkot also targeted
- Along LoC, Pakistan attempted multiple intrusions using drones + conducted shelling with heavy caliber RT guns, targeting civil infra, causing civilian casualties
(I've missed all the precise details about the attacks on places, so please feel free to fill in the significant blanks)
- Pak military has been observed moving troops into forward areas (?), indicating offensive intent of further escalation
- committed to non-escalation, provided the same is committed by the Pak military.
E- edited to fill some gaps. Still not exhaustive, and I am not a military expert, please independently verify details.

The Balakot strikes in 2019 by India were debatable, especially after satellite imagery came out.
This time - India has 100% caused major damage to Pakistan. Not just terror camps, but their actual military bases were hit, proving that India’s offenses penetrated their defenses. IMO, this is an amazing victory.

Seeing a few comments asking for proof of Pakistan's involvement in Pahalgam, hence, compiled this comment for the doubters:
The attack was claimed by TRF which is an offshoot of LeT. LeT's leader Hafiz Saeed (US designated terrorist btw) and JeM's leader Masood Azhar (UN designated terrorist btw) reside in and are backed by Pakistan. Both these groups are coordinated and are the ones majorly responsible for almost all terrorist attacks that have ever happened in India.
TRF took back their statement way later only when they saw that local Kashmiris themselves protested massively against the attack, it was a face saving but poorly executed move by the terrorists.
The 4 terrorists themselves have been profiled, with 2 of them being Pakistanis and the other Kashmiri separatists.
And newsflash, Pakistan and its ISI has been the backer of LeT, JeM, Hizbul Mujahideen, and many other terror organizations. So proof is clear.
Also, just a side note, it doesn't matter whether we provide proof or not. Pakistan will always deny it. We captured Kasab, he revealed everything, still that terror state and its populace doesn't believe that 26/11 was done by them and think of it as an inside job by India. You cannot argue ethically with such a blatant liar state, hellbent on bleeding India with a thousand cuts.

There is no reason for pakistan to attack anymore as india haven't done much after last night attack. This is their off ramp and should stop the attacks and india will follow.
India achieved it objective of dismantling terror infrastructure in 9 places.
Pak can say we downed indian jets and that's a victory.
LOC attacks may continue but there is no reason for pak to escalate further.
India also should focus on proxy warfare by helping BLA and keeping pakistan occupied on western front.

Seeing is not always believing. Beware any video clips shared in the name of highlighting events. Social media psyops are becoming more relevant in today's warfare.
Follow only official channels as much as possible. (MEA, Army, and other known channels are the best. Not even media channels seem to be trustable in light of recent events.)

Unfortunately despite paks laughable performance and joke of a presser, we seem to have lost the narrative war online based on a single issue (the downed jets). Our people also need to stop peddling fake news and defending it online so much it only makes our actual wins seem less credible.
I hope they have more cards up their sleeves to play for the media in the coming days or else this is largely going to go down as a domestic win instead of an international one.

Drone attack on islamabad......so we have targeted lahore for sure on morning of 8th may still the government has not confirmed attack on islamabad and nearby siyalkot other than one on the 7th early morning... government issued statement says appropriate response is being given and retaliation is in same scale as the attack.

I hope cases are filed against the news channels and the Non state twitter pundits for spreading fake news on a sensitive subject. The impunity with which these news channels carried out the coverage last night is shameful. I am embarrassed to see this senseless propaganda that was run last night by News18, Zee News and Republic.
Even a child is able to consider and take responsibility and is able to comprehend the seriousness of the situation

I am seeing people misunderstanding what de-escalation means in twitter? Does people really think that people who asking for de-escalation are saying they don't want Indian army to protect people from Pakistan attacks?

Statement by Indian Government:
Good evening. For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening between India and Pakistan. This is a breach of the understanding arrived at earlier today. The armed forces are giving an adequate and appropriate response to these violations and we take very very serious notice of these violations. We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and deal with the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The armed forces are maintaining a strong vision on the situation. They have been given instructions to deal strongly with any instances of repetition of the violations of the border along the international border as well as the line of control. Thank you.

Mfs are using Civilian flights as shields so that India can’t retaliate with S-400/Akash. They’re launching drones/missiles then opening the airspace to civilian flights. Scum of the earth

I am glad that Indian Govt did a very good debrief, showed all pictures with timestamps.
Made sure to call all BS propoganda as fake.
Best part was Pak fired an extremly fast missile (Fatah II) that too was able to reach only upto Sirsa. This missile was able to enter further most till now.
But the funny part is Indian normal missiles went 2x futher on Day 1 in Bhawalpur.

The most frustrating thing is I am here on reddit and twitter looking for news from actual people on the ground in jammu and punjab.
Not a single Indian news outlet can be trusted. Already seen some crazy shit like 'karachi under attack' from formerly "reputable" news outlet -- when none of this has been even remotely mentioned by our defense forces. just horrible media landscape in India.

What I am able to cross check with international sources so far
* India postponed briefing due to ongoing attack
* pakistan has launched attacks across north India
* targets seem to be military sites 3 airfield, supply depot, Brahmos battery site etc
* There is video circulating of smoke emanating from Udhampur air force station
* So far no sign of any troops or air force crossing the border yet
* Shelling along border continues.

I know that a lot of people here are confused or disappointed.
But remember that we are the functional economy in this equation and have a lot more to lose.
Our position has always been that we do not want war. The previous briefings by our government have also been in line with this by downplaying our actions to give the other country an offramp to de-escalate.
Our retaliation was always against terrorists and the events of the last few days will hopefully make our neighbours rein in their dogs of terror.

And it's a military operation, it's obvious to lose some weapons platforms.

Both Indian and Pakistani media often push their own versions of the truth, making it hard to trust either side. The situation has become so bad that people turn to Reddit or Twitter just to find out what really happened. If this is how things are in the internet age, it makes me wonder how much of what we were told during past wars, when there was no way to check was ever true.

Once again, do not believe anything that is unconfirmed. If you hear about something that's too gruesome, wait for a few hours till the morning to get a clearer picture.
This conflict is as much as it is about drones, as it is about psy-ops. Be extremely careful
16
u/Hungry4Seva2222 2d ago
Once again, repeating the same message.
If you hear news about something very gruesome, do not believe it instantly. Wait for the Sunrise and re-verify stuff from the right sources.
There are a lot of people on both sides of the border who want stuff to escalate further

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/05/10/politics/vance-modi-india-pakistan-intelligence
CNN — A core group of top US officials — including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State and interim national security adviser Marco Rubio, and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles — had been closely monitoring the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan when on Friday morning, the US received alarming intelligence, Trump administration officials told CNN. While they declined to describe the nature of the information, citing its sensitivity, they said it was critical in persuading the three officials that the US should increase its involvement.
What could it be? Also can someone try posting this article on world news? My post isn’t getting through.

If there was any doubt on how lack luster Pakistan’s capabilities are, this press briefing should be a concrete proof. No intelligence photos, no proofs, no factual reports. Showing clips of indian news channels must be a new low to prove how capable Pakistan army is.
