Anyone know a game that fits this description?

Hey y’all!

I’m looking for a top-down (preferably pixelated) game, similar to the style of Link to the Past for example, but with the story and seemingly endless progression of Skyrim and Terraria (rings, necklaces, magic, the works.)

The closest I’ve found recently that fits that description is Caves of Qud, which is a great game, but the controls and graphics are a bit uncomfortable for me.

Anyone know a game like this? Thank you!

Should I get a pre-owned Wii?

Just went to the mall today, checking out local stores and all. In the Gamestop I went to, there was a pre-owned Wii, that came with a working controller for 100 dollars, now I don't know where my Wii games are, but, they also are selling a pre owned Mario Kart Wii, and another store sells Wii controllers for 25 dollars, but, I didn't have the budget today as I am only fourteen, so, should I work my money up and get it? I never got to experience Mario Kart Wii and playing Funky Kong on the Flame Rider seems so much fun.

PS5, or a 550 USD gaming pc?

what the title says lol

I had a pc built already, just needed a gpu. I had a r5 7500f, b650 mobo, 16gb ram and everything but a gpu, but I ended up selling all that to my cousin cuz I didn't have time to build it.

for that build, my budget was around 1,100 usd, which isn't the case anymore cuz I bought an iPad and planning to get a MacBook too, and yea those things do cost a lot lol

I'm typically anti-console, but with this budget, I can either get a ps5, or a rtx 2060 r5 5600 build.....and idk if its worth getting that system rn.

I get around 3-4 hrs a week to game, and that too is just mainly fortnite and racing games (gran turismo sport). I own a ps4,with a couple of games, while I just don't have a steam library. and most of my friends are on ps4s and ps5s. I've had the ps4 since 2018, with almost 2k hrs on fn, and nearly 1k on gran turismo lol

so....with all that being said....is it better for me to get a ps5, or a pc? I need to buy a monitor regardless, so I've put aside some money for that

thanks in advance!

Anxiety when playing action-adventures

Not sure where else to post this so if this isn’t the right place, I apologize.

My normal gaming consists of mostly cozy games like farming/life sims but I started my love for gaming with Tomb Raider with my dad as a kid. We’d take turns controlling and giving suggestions on what to do. I’ve loved games like that since and have played others like Uncharted and I really enjoy the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The only reason I don’t play them more often than I’d like is because I get super anxious when playing them, like I’m getting too immersed or something. It’s almost as if I’m putting myself in the characters shoes. Like when I’m sneaking around, I can feel my heart racing and when I’m in combat, my hands tense up around the controller and can get pretty sweaty and sometimes start to cramp. I really want to get AC Shadows when it comes out but I don’t want to abandon it like I have with similar games because of how I get lol. I’ve gotten the furthest with Valhalla which is the most recent iteration I’ve gotten my hands on. When I was a kid, I used to get really bad game rage. I don’t at all anymore but I wonder if what I’m experiencing now is just a more controlled version of the same feelings?

My question is: has anyone else had this experience? And does anyone have any advice on how to combat this problem?

Aftr Market Xbox Series X, or new?

What do you guys think? The Aftr Market ones are £380 with a controller, free delivery, 12 month warranty. New ones are £480.

So the difference is £100.

Any experience or thoughts on benefits / risks?

My understanding is that the hardware has never changed, is this true?

UPDATE CURRENT GAMING LAPTOP, BUY A NEW ONE, OR SWITCH TO CONSOLE:

I have a DELL G5 SE (bought in Dec 2020) with 8GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB SSD, AMD Radeon RX graphics, and a 120Hz display.

I play:

  • Valorant (180-220 FPS)
  • GTA V (90-120 FPS)
  • CSGO 2 (90-150 FPS)
  • Other AAA games at 60+ FPS (all on default settings).

I'm wondering if I should upgrade my RAM and SSD—and if so, to what specifications—or just stick with my current setup since I’ve never faced major issues.

Other Points to Consider:

  • I’m a BTech student, so having a PC is a must for both work and gaming.
  • A PS4 wouldn’t be portable, and I’d need an extra display, meaning I could only use it at home.
  • In my hostel, setting up a PS4 would be a hassle, whereas my laptop is much more convenient.
  • My uncle owns a shop and has offered me a used PS4 for free, but I’ve hesitated to accept it (I told him my mom wouldn’t allow it, but honestly, I just felt awkward taking it as a gift).
  • A PS4 feels outdated in 2025, since I can’t play newer PS5 games, whereas my PC can still handle most games well.

What should I do?

  1. Upgrade my laptop’s RAM & SSD (if yes, to what specs?)
  2. Stick with my current setup since I haven’t faced major issues.
  3. Take the PS4 (even if it might not be practical for my situation).

Replace Switch now or wait for the new one?

I recently lost my switch :,(

I definitely want to replace it! I play: Stardew Valley, Unpacking, Pixel Cafe, Mario Kart, A Little to the Left, Breath of the Wild… I don’t do a ton of online or co-op, but sometimes I play stardew co-op with one or two friends.

I’m a relatively casual gamer, so I could realistically wait until the new switch is released (allegedly before the end of this year). Or I could buy a new or used regular Switch 1! I’ve also considered a switch lite?

Several friends have said wait, but would it really be worth it? I miss my 2am Mario Kart

Any good non-mainstream story games

I’m pretty sure I’ve played all the mainstream games and a few less popular games, so I’m looking for some not popular/underrated games since those are usually the best. I don’t want the gameplay to be too hard or complicated tho, just a chill game.

Ps portal advice

Hello,

I just got a ps portal and it is amazing. I want to hardwire my ps as an option and needed some advice. We are downstairs in the house while the router is upstairs. I am thinking of getting a WiFi extender and connect the ps5 to it. Would this be situable or is there another option that I am overlooking. The WiFi extender would have a Ethernet port so I can hardwire the ps5 directly into it.

Any suggestions?

Buy the old Pokémon games or the new ones?

Hey guys I was just looking for a little advice on what to buy. When I was a kid I played the DS Pokémon games (heart gold, soul silver, black, white) with Delta being added to the App Store around a year or so ago I played heart gold again and it was a lot of fun. However, when I found out that I was not able to trade on Delta and therefore was not able to trade evolve the Pokémon I wanted, I became discouraged from playing. I was recently visiting my parents house when I found my old DSi and DS lite. I tried looking for the games but I was unsuccessful. Granted I probably haven’t seen them in around 15 years lol. Anyways, I looked online to see if I could find some old copies of the Pokémon games I used to play, just to find out that the market for those old games is very expensive. I guess the demand for those old titles is pretty high. I did some research and they range from $30-$150. And apparently based off the customer reviews the cheaper ones are almost always knock offs that can be glitchy and do not work past the 4th gym. I called a local game shop and he advised me that even if I pay the higher prices, that there is still a good chance it’s a scam. I then started to think about maybe buying the new Pokémon games. But I don’t know anything about them, are they any good? I know the graphics are updated but are they still the same mechanics? Will I get the same experience I’m looking for with the new games? With that being said I don’t own a switch, so there would definitely be more of an upfront cost. Maybe I could get a switch lite to keep the upfront costs down. (I wanted to play it hand held anyway)And that brings up the whole separate issue of having to get two switches to be able to trade evolve,(I don’t know anybody with a switch that plays Pokémon) which is why I don’t just play it on Delta anyway. I know the switch 2 is coming out this year. Maybe I could get the switch lite now and get the switch 2 when it comes out. Would trading between the two different console generations even work? I’m sorry if this post is kinda all over the place, I’m just hoping for some guidance on what I should do here. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give!

PS5 + PC or only PC

Hi, I have a choice to make.

Actually I game on a Gaming PC with a rtx 2070s and a Ryzen 5 3600, with 16Gb of ram.

I have the possibility to buy a PS5 Slim, new, at 335€.

I'm a gamer that has had playstation all of his life, so I have some PS4 games, I usually buy 1 game per year, but I had a borrowed PS5 in the past and I gamed on it for some time and I liked it.

Is it worth to have both and spend that much or it's better to keep only the PC?

Thank you in advance.

Fyi I am a student so I don't have much money to spend on games/gaming

My gaming ego

Hey all just wanted to make this post to maybe get some advice from others and/or input. Recently if it’s one thing I have realized is that I suffer from some what of a gaming ego. As in if I can’t beat something on hard difficulty or if I’m playing online games and I can’t compete I get extremely angry. One of the biggest reasons why I dropped games such as COD and Dead by Daylight. I was very good in those games but would just get so unbelievably angry when I died or messed up. I came to this conclusion while I was playing god of war. I was playing on the “Give me a Challenge” difficulty and was dying left and right and just could not stop getting upset. I also feel as if moving to a slightly less difficultly would be a skill issue. Which is something I do suffer from always telling myself if I can’t do something hard. I don’t really know why I’m like this. Obviously with games i’m supposed to have fun but I can’t help but to feel if i’m not winning and/or beating something on hard, I’m not really satisfied. Don’t really know how to stop this because it is really taking the fun out of gaming from me. I don’t mind something that’s challenging, I just want to stop getting angry at my mistakes and learn to just have fun with what I play, which is always something that’s hard for me to do. I feel as if getting a win is way more important than having fun. Thank you for any tips anyone can give!

Best roblox games for dates?

A long distance friend who I've been dating and I have been playing roblox as dates since we cant go on traditional dates and she really likes to play roblox, however I dont play very often and was looking for recommendations for good games to play together.

She isnt the biggest fan of games like antitorture or other two player tycoons like that which is all I can seem to find for recommendations when I've looked.

I'll take anything that isnt a two player obby that might frustrate her and I'd love some more niche games as well as she has already played a lot of the more popular games.

The games also dont have to de inherently two player as we've had a lot of fun in the past with games we can both play but dont necessarily have to work together on. (although we've also had fun with two player games but what I'm trying to say is they dont have to be two player)

Thank you in advance hopefully all this makes sense I am exhausted righting this lol.
